IMS made some oversized tanks, but I personally like stock. The obvious places like ebay or craigslist, but when searching for craigslist, I have had the best luck looking for parted out bikes rather than specifically listed parts. Be cautious though as the tanks are very year specific. I made the mistake of purchasing a 95 rather than 96 thinking it would fit, but it was quite different. Luckily I found a 96 tank on ebay that was brand new and still wrapped. It had been sitting in a warehouse.
Good looking bike!! I have a 94 klx 650r and was thinking of getting the pro circuit pipe. Does it mount up pretty easily? I like your skid plate, where did you get it at?
well, a lot of the parts were actually first gen baja design, so it may be tough to find direct placement at this point, however, I recommend joining the klx650 yahoo group. There are many knowledgeable guys there and a ton of resources. Some have put together a nice interchangeable parts list too. I am actually thinking of switching everything to LED because I don't run a battery and don't want to cut into the airbox for less flow.
nice machine! I have an XR650 with countless engine mods and although i have it street legal, i use it as mainly my offroad bike. been on craigslist looking for KLX650 to convert to supermoto to ride on the street.
Killer bike, done right! What/where did you get that tail-light off of? DR650? I'm looking for that exact setup for my CA plated '94 & '95. I want to retain the KLX/KDX type fender.
I had actually just pushed it back several miles because I threw a spoke a popped the tube. I don’t have the bike anymore, but after this video, had laced all new hubs with 17” Excel wheels and sport tires for supermoto, then replaced the front fender with a green shorty, and the seat with a black one. It looked nice.
All good mate! It is a nice bike. And i know what its like to push them thru the bush broken down. Not a klx though but im actually looking for one to buy. They didnt sell huge numbers over here. The honda xrs, dr650s were prefered. Reliability. And maybe the graphics put a few punters off aswell. Still looking for one though.
tim venters Here is a photo after I changed the wheels. imgur.com/gallery/m55eMFj It was a good bike and ran strong after I set the valves and replaced the auto cam chain tensioner with a manual one for reliability. Prior to this I had a street legal KX500, so my hope is to get a KX500AF. Either a 250 or 450F frame will work well. Good luck on your hunt.
Ever have any issues with the proximity of the pipe to the air box? I have a '95 klx650c with the t4 slip on but the exhaust is so close to the air box that it keeps melting it. I recently wrapped the pipe with heat tape but because of how close the gap is I'm sure the air box will melt again.
I have a 1995 klx 650c with the procircuit, love it.
Very Nice bike. Looks good in green.
Just ordered this for the klx650 i just got. Can't wait. Hope its not draw too much attention loud lol
Thanks. Wish I knew where the plate was from, but I bought it with the plate.
yeah, the pro circuit pipe was an easy fit. The pipe sleeve (wire/carbon mesh) was the only pain of the install.
This bike must just fly remember seeing 1 for the 1st time in 95 when they came out seen 1 in a show room floor at a dealer and it even looked fast
I have one definitely not slow.

No, it was still kick. There was a KLX yahoo group a while back that was very helpful. Not sure if they are around still, as I sold the bike since.
2t or 4t?
Para mi gusto la prefiero con el escape original sacándole la sordina.
Keihin fcr?
That was the next step, but I ended up selling it.
