Yeah, Sina "IS" awesome, and not just on the drums. She collaborates with dozens of young artists that would normally not get much exposure. Not only does she put them on her videos that her over 1 million subscribers will see, (this video alone has over 20 million views) she also has 3 CD's out that she features a lot of them on. She first came on UA-cam almost 8 years ago at the age of 14, and I have been following her since then. The Wipe Out video was almost 5 years ago, so she was 15 or 16 when she did it. She is pretty amazing.
Thanks, SQ! It's always more fun to see reactions by people who have played the instrument, sung the song, etc. You can appreciate the subtleties that go right over my head. I think she was 17 when this was recorded (5 years ago.) She's even better now, so I hope you revisit her work from time to time. That was her dad on the guitar, BTW.
during the late 60's I was in Europe courtesy of the US Army, saw alot of bands, many where made up of different nationalities. you could tell when the drummer was American because at that time European drummers couldnt get the iconic riff right. Sina is the first European drummer i have ever heard do it right. Dad is pretty dang good too!
Love this! I've been following her a long time and find her absolutely captivating and I don't play drums! Wish I could. It was "a thing" when this song came out for all kids to try to imitate this with their hands or fingers. It's a beat that stays with you forever. One of my favorites of Sina is explaining how Ringo Starr plays and it's amazing how she captures his unique style. Thanks for this and maybe some more in the future.
This music was used in a famous advert on the television for a long time, but i can't recall the product it was used in been advertised now. Good drums and guitar combination.
If you do not know. That is her dad on guitar. She is I think about 15 there. She has hundreds of videos on UA-cam. She does awsome covers. Also has 3 albums out of originals with collaboration from other gifted young artists. Look at all. She can play keyboard, bass and guitar (at least rudimentary) her younger sister is in a few videos and like her her father.
Gotta admit, I can play guitar..My hands cannot do 2 and 3 things at the same time on the drums, then throw in footwork..nope, nope nope ....wow..nice work...really nice work.
Thanks, Charles! I forgot that The Ventures recorded "Wipeout"...but, in those days, it was normal for every good band to do their best imitation of EVERY hit song by ANY other good band. The Surfaris wrote and performed the original and that's the version I remember. Secondhandsongs.com states that The Ventures' cover was released 7 months later. The Ventures were one of my all-time favorite bands, and I'm confident their cover of "Wipeout" was as good as the original.
