True. The speed has to be good. It could always add no new features and keep the bare minimum HD display like Apple with its 720 so it could be as fast as the latest iPhone, but some people care about more than just speed.

well it depends on a number of things the type of processor the OS and the screen used
a faster processor means it will be faster
the OS needs to be supportive of the processor and so on as IOS is not open source and they have different processors to other manufacturers their phones run really really well
and increasing the screen resolution means you would need a more powerful GPU to process the images

If i want a phone i look at many brands and look at the pros and cons of them (LG, Google pixel, Samsung and even apple). That thing about phones getting bad over time happens to apple too. My mom bought a apple (because they are not as komplex and a bit easier to understand) and she have taken care of it really well so it looks like a new one after 2 years but but now it's lagging very much and is becoming unusable. People can choose whatever phone they want but they have to understand that apple is not the only good option.
You will look at pros and cons because you like technologies. alot of people dont care and just want a decent phone. and iphones are really good at this field at making things easy. they also optimize features better, that is how they got their fans. All technologies are garbage without proper marketing. Steve Jobs understand this very well and is able to market their product amazingly, and when people bring the products home they face very little to no hassle. Versus Android which have way more features often bring tons of problem to the people who doesnt care about smartphones at all. not only that because you have so much freedom you will mess too many things up too easily which is why alot of people dont want to deal with it. And when the majority of the people uses iphones, Apple knows if they make iphones work well with others who uses iphones they will be able to retain their customer base really well. Which they again complete aced it in keeping their customers.... I am not a fan boy but apple is such a genius company at its comeback versus other competitors which their competitors should learn something on. And Samsung? meh, alot of users are dipping out because of how shitty their business strategies are. only the fan boys are still loving it so much.

The Note 7 was a spectacular phone despite the battery issue. I know a lot of people that kept the phones up until 4 months later because they didn't want to give the phone up. I owned one and can tell you it a was a beast of a phone.
