- Welcome back for another Game of Thrones and House of the Dragon video. In this video, I will be talking about the reasons why HBO's Game of Thrones series is still relevant to this day. As you all know, Game of Thrones had one of the most controversial endings in television history. After the show's final season, millions of fans not only signed a petition to have season 8 remade, but they also canceled their HBO subscription. This had led to hundreds and even thousands of fans saying Game of Thrones' IP was ruined. I can't even tell you how many times I have seen people say, "no one talks about Game of Thrones anymore. That show is dead."
Well, some of the statistics and analytics would say otherwise. In fact, Game of Thrones has remained as one of the most popular television shows in the four years since it went off the air. The final season of Game of Thrones might have been bad, but it hasn't stopped millions of people from watching the show. HBO recognizes this, and they know there is still a hunger for more Game of Thrones and A Song of Ice and Fire. That's why House of the Dragon has been so incredibly successful, and it's also why HBO is still developing more shows. Regardless of what some fans may say, Game of
Thrones isn't going anywhere anytime soon.

Maybe the “ending disenchanted” could pool $30-40 million to restart and and make their own ending episode, maybe collect another $5-10 million per “lead up to ending” episodes after that. That might not be enough, but should be a good start. Would I have liked more episodes and maybe a few changes? Sure. The fan base is likely unaware of forces behind the scenes that dictated the way it ended but is the rectal agony worth it?
I just couldn't help but think Jon's ending was devised from the politics of the day. People say "Jon becoming King, ruling well, and everybody living happily ever after" isn't the type of show GOT is. However how else does one end a show? Having the characters all miserable and worse off than they where at the shows start is dangerous. I want to walk away from a show In a good mood with the characters existing at the dawn of a better age for their world. No I don't exist in that world but seeing characters overcoming obstacles in a fantasy land, and finding peace at it's conclusion leaves me hopeful in overcoming my own obstacles and finding my own measure of peace. There is a difference between subverting expectations, and intentionally trying to antagonize your viewers.
It's unfortunate, but we DO have to judge the show in the entirety now. But the fact that we all still love it so much is a testament to how good MOST of the show was.

Season 7 was bad, but only the final season was unbearable. The rest of it was exceptional
Honestly only season 1 - 4 are amazing. 5 was mediocre for half of the plots and 6 even more so. 7 was bad and 8 was truly awful.

After All these years We R still Salty over the Ending. When discussed it’s like pulling a Scab off a healed Wound.
Dany was foreshadowed to go bad from s2 in The House of the Undying (snow in the throne room). Jon was pitched as the tragic hero from s1. Tyrion shrinked but threw his Hand of the King emblem at Dany's feet which was fitting of the character. I lowkey thought they should've made Robin king. He was the only character besides Brienne that never lied or betrayed anyone. Every hater wanted Dany/Jon to be queen/king which was never gonna happen, and the nobody actors before this project, got a swole head and helped poison the well in the final season cuz their character didn't end up on top. Actors..
I'm still loyal to this franchise, the main show may be over, but I still want to see more especially after House of the Dragons blew my mind

I’ve been a massive movie/tv show guy since a kid, I have a lot of knowledge of actors/directors/cast. Out of the 29 years I’ve been alive Game of Thrones is by far the best of anything I’ve ever watched movie or tv show. I know they had some plot holes and stuff was rushed toward the back half but even with that considered it’s still by far the greatest!!!!’

I liked the Entire Show... I will always be a fan of GOT...
Me and my wife still go back and revisit GOT we never get tired of watching it.The richness of characters starting right from season 1 and on is what we love and the contrast and humor some characters have.Yes we both didnt really like the ending all that much but it doesnt ruin all the episodes before that for us anyways.
I recently rewatched the official season 8 trailor. Honestly, it still excites me. Like muscle memory, the anticipation and sheer joy I felt when I first viewed it still lives within me. Reading some of the viewer's comments, I noticed how many were recently posted. Many binged GoT during the pandemic and some were now age appropriate to finally watch it. GoT's is here to stay. The 10yr olds of today will be watching Thrones in a few years from now. I've binged the show 5 times and IMHO, not only is GoT's the greatest show ever, season 6 finale 'The Winds of Winter' is the greatest 60 minutes of television I've ever seen.
I could see them doing a do over of season 8, slim possibility but I could see it.
The teaser that they did before that had Jon, Sansa and Arya in the Winterfell Crypt was phenomenal.

D&D legit make me so mad, F-ing quitters man. Phoning it in doesn’t even do it justice. What they did at the end, inexcusable in any profession.
They have one hell of a setup for exploring the Jon/Azor Ahai arc. I think theres a bigger bad/ AKA Sauron has Morgoth. Night "King" has a Night Emporer hanging out in Winter Wonderland. It could even be a Bloodraven/Bran plot, kicking Jon to the margins while the rolling weirwood rules Jon's kingdom, maybe he even warged into Drogon and burnt down Kings Landing then melted the throne to make room forTreebran's wheelchair....who knows, but theres a million good ways they could drive the story. GRRM always said there was enough material for up to 11-13 seasons...

Even if you look at your UA-cam channel you can see the growth after the serie ended. Thats also a indicator of how big this show still is.
I'm proudly obsessed.... books, series, spin-offs. It's not dead. A lot of us are still desperately waiting for the next season of House of the Dragon, the spin-off Snow, but ESPECIALLY the next book in the series. The whole GoT world is extremely fascinating. I know im not alone in this opinion.
I’m new very to the show… I’ve watched it 3 times in the last year!!! I was kinda mad that I never watched with everyone else & was one who thought it was overrated but I was wrong!! I really appreciate all of you who have reviewed the show… the videos have given me a lot of insight because I didn’t read the books either! It was obvious that immediately after the S8 finale interest died off a bit but in the year leading up to House of the Dragon, views of anything GOT-related on YT started to surge again. People love the overall story.

I wasn't pleased about how Jon's story ended. But it wasn't the end of the world. When House of the Dragon was being released I rewatched games of thrones and enjoyed it until the final episode. 1 episode out of all ain't bad. I'd really love to see Jon future in some kind of show in future. What is dead will never die GOT 😅

GOT is far from dead. I' m doing a got diamond painting as we speak and keep rewatching on a regular basis.
Every time a new season came out, I used to watch all of the previous seasons over again to get back into that world. I would always notice things that I had missed on previous watches. After watching season 8 and realizing that all of the mystery and lore meant absolutely nothing, I lost all interest in watching even the earliest seasons when the show was arguably the greatest entertainment vehicle of all time. As far as HOTD goes, I watched the first 8 episodes but realized that I didn’t care about any of the characters. Any one of them could die and I wouldn’t care even a little bit. If the Jon Snow comes out, I’d be very excited and give it a shot but HOTD doesn’t interest me at all.
There are very few shows where people looked so forward to the next episode that they had to be home during a specific time slot just to watch it and GOT was one of them. We all wanted more because it was exciting with great storytelling.

That's the reason my heart beats faster every time I hear the show's opening music. Game of Thrones Forever. I don't remember how many times I have streamed GOT from the start to the bitter end. I still love it.
I am still waiting for the final books to be done. If that ever happens perhaps then we can talk. If he had finished the story before the tv show did we could have had a little less rushed ending to an incomplete story. And maybe even a much better one. In the future I hope they never make a tv show off of a book series until the author has finished his work.

The GOT universe is fine. I'm sure HOTD was awesome, I didn't watch, I read the books they are based on. That being said, I just want GRRM to finish ASOIAF.

I didn’t care to much for the last season but I have to admit this is the greatest series I have ever seen in my life and as bad as the last season was it’s still better than the majority of show out there 💯 there’s a reason so many fantasy shows now try to capture that feeling of game of thrones but they don’t come close

I just spent the last 2 weeks rewatching season 1-8 probably for the 4th or 5th time since the show ended and the nostalgia , the stories the foreshadowing Easter eggs you catch and the imagination of all the ways so many of the characters dead or alive could go still mesmerizes me!! @@faithli2131 give or take yes it was 2 -2.5 weeks , have been having issues with sleeping and ending a 15 yr long relationship so yea had some extra time on my hands , my heads in a place trying to piece itself back together, hopefully being able to prioritise more productive and important things will come into play soon, but then and now I’m just trying to function day to day . Everyone’s fighting some kinda battle we know nothing about 😘

House of the Dragon is nowhere near as good as Game of Thrones, I don’t think anything can ever be as good as that show, it’s truly incredible
Game Of Thrones is forever. Nothing will reach the level of intensity it reached. The end is completely understandable. The HBO guys had some big shoes to fill and they were not professional writers.
The colossal failures of season 8 killed my interest in ever watching the game of thrones series again, and I'm not the only one. I did watch house of dragon out of curiosity and enjoyed it, but it will never tempt me to start game of thrones over again
HBO should announce that the world is to collectively act like the last 3 seasons of Game Of Thrones simply don't exist...and then re-do 'em.

I went to the Superhero Comicon and Car show in San Antonio and met both Emilia & Kit for a photo op- I can tell you by the photo op/autographs/cosplayers that attended just for them, that this fandom is FAR from dead.
It took me longer than it should have to get over S8. I realize how silly, of me personally, to be so upset over one season of a TV show because I loved every season but 5 and 8. I can now look back with fondness again. I have no doubt i will ever love a tv show that much again nor the sense of a community of people that i felt a part of with other GoT fans. Fun times for sure.

I loathed the ending like most fans BUT time heals most wounds. I think the best thing in the Game of Thrones universe is the potential Jon Snow show where Kit Harrington could fix the show's story line and how it ended and give it a future for sequels. There will always be a market for prequels, thankfully the one prequel so far has been decent, not great but at least decent. The Game of Thrones IP is in FAR better shape than the virtually destroyed Star Wars or Star Trek IP's and probably in better shape than the Marvel or DC IP's.
The worst are the people that say the whole show sucked just because of the last 2 seasons liked they were obsessed with the everything else.

The thing about Fandoms is that they never truly die out. There will always be a fan remaining even if something hasn't been talked about for a long time.
I think the thing that pisses me off the most about Dan and Dave is that they let their ego's get in the way of providing a satisfying ending to the fans. House of the Dragon has already proved that new writers could have done a good job on the ending of the original series. But instead of passing the baton off to someone else so they could do the extra seasons that were needed (since D & D didn't want to do anymore seasons) to end the show in the way that was deserved (even GRRM wanted to do more seasons), they decided to rush it instead so no one else could have their names attached to it, screwing over the fans and tarnishing their legacy in the process. The whole thing still makes me sad. But no, Game of Thrones is not dead, the massive amount hate for the end of the original series is because of how many people who are passionate for the story and who will always be. And I suspect a lot of fans were like me and just spent the last couple of years re-reading the books to get the bad taste out of our mouths.
I've watched it 5 times and didn't even get into until shortly before the final season as it was being hyped up on the radio and they said if you watched 2 episode's a day you could be caught up for the finale so I took on the challenge. GOT, vikings, and the last kingdom are my go-to rewatch programs. I've seen them all more than once
I just went to Dubrovnik for my vacation, and the first thing I did was take a Game of Thrones tour! Whenever I re-watch the show, I stop at the episode where Arya kills the night king. I'm still waiting for the Jon Snow show.

There's also a lot of UA-camrs that make their living off of a show that ended four years ago, and have a vested interest in keeping up the rumormongering and talking up the spinoffs.

Game of Thrones will never die ❤ one of the best shows in history, could had more seasons for sure , my hopes now are in The Snow series, I can’t wait . I also love House of the Dragon but that we already know how it ends 😢 what I really wished is that GRR Martin finish the books so we can know how his story will ending, the books are different from the series in many ways so would be very interesting to get to read that . I am currently in the “ last” book , reading slowly cause , still no book after that 😢

I thought the last season was rushed and I didn't buy Bran being able to be king when he couldn't be Lord of Winterfell due to his Three Eyed Raven status, but I was a fan of the Starks from day one so with them coming up on top I was happy with the ending.

I didn’t dislike most the the ideas they had for the endings of characters (except Bran) however how they got there was rushed and often times didn’t make sense. Mainly because the writers wanted to be done with it

I think the problems with Game of Thrones writing started in season 5. For the most part, I liked s 5 and 6. But in seasons 7 and 8, I think Dan and Dave started phoning it in. There were moments in seasons 7 and 8 that I liked. But overall, the flow of those 2 seasons and decisions made by the writers just failed just failed. They needed at least 10 full seasons to tell the story correctly, in my opinion.
Having said that it is very hard to adapt that which hasn't been written.
HBO is moving way to slow with making these shows… The Jon Snow show should be in production by now

I just had a friend watch the whole series last year. Make me go back and watch some of the best episodes, then do a good church of one of the season. It didn't end well because they rushed it, but it was still a great show overall.

Thank you for this video! I don't care what people say, although I felt betrayed by what happened in the last episode, I keep watching Game of Thrones. They started their anual rerun on HBO and it was like meeting an old friend, episodes from season 2 with Hot Pie and Arya, Tyrion - the best hand the seven kingdoms ever had!, Stannis, Jamie and Brienne. And just like that, I binge watched seasons 2 and 3, up to the Red Wedding which I avoid at all costs.

Bad endings typically ruin shows for a large amount of people. Though, there's still interest in spin-offs in hopes they redeem themselves. However, not as many compared to if they stuck the landing.
I'm not quite sure I could watch GoT again after the disappointment of the last 2 seasons or so. Mostly the last.
The journey was too good. All of it. Loved the whole. The fact that so many people react and build their channels on Game of Thrones. Proves it still is the best show ever to grace our screens. I loved the ending bittersweet but perfect for each character. Nobody is ever happy . The wanted a utopia that even in the real world is impossible.
Now if they redo the ending, just imagine the views that they will get. HBO make it happen. PLEASE!
Game of Thrones isn't dead necessarily but man, those last two (maybe the last) episodes ruined it for me. The Song of Ice and Fire universe (like House of the Dragon) and books are alive and well though! I still like GoT series but the last episode hurts in the feels because the landing caused a crash.

My biggest gripe in the show was how the white walkers went out. No learning anything. No ambiguous story to even guess what the motivations were.. I absolutely despise when shows base so much on certain plot aspects, then just drop the story off a cliff..
It's the greatest show ever made. Period.
I just finished watching GoT on MAX. I am so impressed I bought the DVD so I could rewatch in detail without commercial interruption. This show is quite an adventure. I was satisfied with the ending.

Hi, I think that this is a great report to a point. G.O.T. was an awesome show until we got to the end, and even the last episode had a few good scenes in it. So yes, it's pretty hard to ignore G.O.T. because of the rest of the great episodes besides the last one.
I'm not going to complain about the end, S8.. The show led up to two major events, The Long Night battle and the The Bells.. I was surprised they killed-off Dani, but... what is dead my never die.. a lot of my favorite characters died .. Long live GØT 🐲🐲🐲
