The mission board refreshes every 10 minutes. 12:00, 12:10, 12:20, etc. Navy missions can change with a quick board flip. Well detailed explanation, Saturated Giant!
Nice tip: you can filter missions by factions by clicking on the factions at the top. You can select multiple ones as well, so you could very well just select all factions that are from the Empire only.
I didn’t come for the tutorial (already there thankfully) but stayed for the Goose. My seven second rule is six seconds. Decelerate around 12 seconds then throttle down to just below halfway. 6 seconds is the fastest you can go without your speed running away. I do still use 7 seconds sometimes because it’s easier to keep on vector. Excellent content m8.
Another handful tip: if you are on PC, set your game to borderless, bring up a video (UA-cam for example), and pop-out the Picture-in-Picture mode. Now you can watch your favorite UA-camrs directly in your ship! (and don't forget you can readjust the size and position of the video to your liking)

So 19:30, 19:40 etc. And if you want a different mission for your rank up, just exit the menus until you're back in the ship, then go to Mission board again. Repeat until it has picked the mission you want.
If you set your thrusters to 75% at 7 seconds, it'll be easier to not do the loop of shame. Just go into game settings, controls, thrusters and set up a hot key for 75% thrusters. Fly dangerously Commanders! o7
You can actually wait till 6 seconds using this method. This is very efficient but The Geist does not like to be educated by mere viewers. He does not care.
I'm not sure if the odyssey update gimped this, but grinding for duke took roughly 10-ish hours from when I'd unlocked the clipper. It's fine at first giving you 15+ missions, but about 2-4 runs around the circuit I was finding I only got roundabouts 3ish missions. Note this it relying purely on data courier missions, if you bring a medium/small ship that can do combat and/or delivery missions, that'll help. Just my experience though
I just couldn't bring myself to do the grind this way. I just went to imperial space, made first Cubeo and later the Flagg Dock my home, and gave missions preference whose "quest giver" has the imperial eagle next to her/his name. I'm new in Elite Dangerous, I've been playing for about a month and I'm Viscount in the Empire without any deliberate grind.
FYI for anyone trying to do this. It will take about 5 or so hours to get the clipper from 0 rep. the cutter may take 15+ so be prepared to waste a shit ton of time.
I actually find grinding Federation rank is much less of a grind than this. However, I did grind imperial first, and have attained Imperial Cutter ownership :D So my grind for Federal rank is Exphiay to Canopus Courier and Delivery missions with a 600+ cargo space in a manouverable trader. Flying up.

I was doing this then did a few spec ops “wet work” missions. My rank ended up going to hostile with one of the other factions and now I can’t dock at the outpost because I’m hostile so I can’t collect my reward for the spec ops mission
you really only need the first 3 minutes of this video, the rest is just repetition. that said, the first three mins are bang on so thank you. just don't stretch out needless videos.
Some of them do. I've noticed the receiving-station faction has given me federation rep while doing empire missions, etc. Or sometimes it's just a random faction on the remote station: maybe it's whichever faction has control there, which isn't always the same as the mission-giver. Noticed that effect doing deliveries, that might not apply to all mission types (bounties or couriers, etc) but the trading ones can help both station economies.
I only have two cutters but watched the whole vid, I gotta say spatchula ghost is great teacher and his jazz intro always hits different. This was not a scripted comment no matter how scripted it sounds, with the voice in your head.
I'm glad he made this video but my imperial rank is bugged so even when I do rank up mission it tells me I've ranked up to knight but it still displays squire and continues giving me missions for the knight rank
I don't want to play this game right now, maybe a year or two after the patch patches and Fortnit em bases is not for me. Nice vid so teach them how to make it easy. eheheheh

Grinding Elite while watching The Expanse is the way to do it.
The rule of 6: there's a command in control settings to put speed at 75%. That fkg changed my life.
Not the sequel we needed, but the sequel we deserved.

there's a third place to goto for a a triad and that's Aitvas. my trip gose from Mainani to Ngalinn then Aitvas and back.
A tip for an another variation of the 7 second rule, i just set it to bottom of the blue bar at 7, it may not be faster, but it is easier

A few CMDRs had the rank bug for a while where it wouldn't update past Squire and the Fed equivalent - I think that's been resolved now last I read.
