  • 2.5 years in the planning, an 18-month build, captured in 15 minutes. In March this year, Liontown Chief Operating Officer, Adam Smits, took us behind the scenes for an in-depth look at the construction of the Kathleen Valley process plant. You will discover what makes it different. This is Ascendant.

It would appear to be a very well “thought-out” design with a focus on the longer term productivity not just short term quick buck making. Well done team!

well done for having the guts to put together a video like this going into this level of detail. all too often, this stuff is a big secret, when we all know, despite how much we all pretend....it isn't actually rocket science. its all about the application of smart and thoughtful layout and a great met test program and flowsheet. good job, wish you all the best and hope the flot plant works. we all know lithium flot can be the challenge compared with good ol' base metals.

Smitty is not just a process engineering pro but has always had his eye down at the gut level of operators and maintainers. Fricken legend.

Great to see the equipment and hear of his high opinion about it.

That's what "lessons learned" put in practice means. Great attitude that should become a benchmark for all operations: keep operability and maintainability in mind when designing the plant, optimize the design for commonality in terms or spares and wears, take wear patterns into account (the mentioned rock-on-rock method here), get the trusted and proven engineering partner and acquire best in class equipment.
As a non-engineer by education (rather by a mind-set), but someone who has been working in a minerals processing area for many years, I am truly impressed by the work done! All the best to you in the operations and potential expansion project!

As an investor and a mechanical Fitter. I'm bloody impressed. Your really speaking my language here. If you need a maintenance fitter I'm very interested.
