Behind the Scenes: UCFD Training

Earlier this summer, the University City Fire Department was given the unique opportunity to train at the old Crown Center building prior to demolition. The vacant 10-story Tallin Apartment Building was the perfect setting for the department to practice rescue drills in real-life settings.
The new Crown Center Phase 1 Apartment Building and Staenberg Commons opened in June 2023. Demolition of the Tallin Building begins later this summer in preparation for future expansion of the Crown Center community.
