    Am I the only one who cleans my Beauty Blender before EVERY use??? I have NEVER used a dirty one. I bought a double pack with the blender cleanser liquid like 9 months ago and I rotate between the two B.B.'s... I figured since I use it damp, I might as well just clean it right before I use it. I am barely now just running out of cleanser after daily use for 9 months. So it really does last a long time AND it works really well, It gets ALL the makeup comes out every time. Takes me less than 90 seconds to clean. They're still going strong after 9 months (4.5 months each, I guess?) and I've never had a problem with them smelling.... But I will definitely start using this tip Tati, thank u! I still feel like I'm the only one who cleans it every time......

      I do that, too. I just clean it with anti-bacterial dish washing soap before every use and it has never gotten stained or smelled bad.

      Me too. I'll never put an unwashed beauty blender on my face. It's disgusting when I see video of girls putting on their foundation with a dirty ass beauty blender. Like you can't take 1 minute out of your day to clean that!?

      I'm sooo glad I'm not the only one! After reading countless blogs and watching MANY UA-cam videos, I've never heard anyone talk about how easy it is to just clean it before EVERY use.... IJS :)

      I'm the same with brushes. I used to spot clean my powder brush with alcohol after each use, and only washed it at the end of my work week. I used to constantly have blackheads and clogged pores no matter what pore clearing skincare I was using.
      But now I have 2 powder brushes on rotation and each night when I remove my makeup & wash my face, I clean the brush I used that morning with baby shampoo. Then let it air dry for the next 32 hours. Over the past few months I've been using a clean brush every day, and I have not had one blackhead or clogged pore! And all the ones I had, have cleared up.
      Upping your brush & sponge hygiene game will really help your skin, people!

    I know this video was a while ago but I just watched it and tried it. TATI.... you are a lifesaver. I just put my sponge in a bowl with an inch of hot water, put it in microwave for 30 seconds, held it under the hot water, got soap and started washing it... OMG the makeup came out like nobody's business. I struggle with a lot of acne and redness and I didn't even begin to think that dirty sponges could be one of the results of acne and breakouts. It truly did clean my sponge and I will definitely be using that technique more often. Hopefully it will help my skin improve a little bit. Thank you!!!!

    I'll tell you, this works! i use my real techniques sponge (different sponge) but make sure it has alot of water. I go for 1 and half minutes and it didn't melt my sponge. :) It's a great way to disinfect your sponge because heat kills the bacteria :) but don't try this with brushes

      Beauty blender wants to sell you the expensive cleaneser from their brand. They will tell you that nothing works as good as their cleaneser. Well, they are lieying. You can use baby shampoo or any cleaneser. Nothing will happen if you put your sponge on the microwave. Worst case scenario your beauty blender just gets hot and no bacteria is killed.

    Oh my gosh! I just went on a make-up brush cleaning spree including my beauty blender and I thought they were all clean. Was hesitant to try this trick but I thought I would after I thought I had cleaned my bb well and gotten all of the foundation and concealer out of it. I was quite disgusted with how much more make up came out of my "clean" bb it was feral and appeared like it had never been cleaned before, will definitely be remembering this trick and using it often! Thanks Tati :)

    That is a brilliant tip Tati. I have had radiotherapy recently so have to be scrupulous about what I put on my skin. My brushes get the whole rubbing alcohol treatment after each use and this is a great way to make sure there are no nasties lurking in my RT beauty sponge (I don't have the actual BB, it was a little too much for me!).
    Thank you very much for this one - I can use my RT sponge after I have cleaned it properly now! It won't just be sat on my dressing table looking all pretty and unused anymore.

    It takes a very short time to clean the sponge after makeup application. It's laziness when people don't wash the sponge. You don't need a microwave if you wash it, squeeze excess water and lay it on a towel to dry- daily, no exceptions.

    • @MotheWitch
      @MotheWitch 9 років тому +4

      You can't possibly clean the middle of the sponge. This kills bacteria in the center.

      I'm not going to argue with you, but if you understand how to wash something properly, it becomes clean and free of bacteria. Go ahead, microwave your sponges lol.

      Glitter Nails
      Washing does not kill bacteria or remove growing colonies, that's incorrect aseptic technique. Washing in conjunction with microwaving the sponge will ensure that it is not only squeaky clean, but free of potentially harmful microorganisms.

    I love use the makeup sponge. I clean this but have nothing to hold it, still I have this tool-makeup sponge holder. And I never worry about my makeup sponge will growth of bacteria that cause my skin problem. I love this little thing. It is cute and functional. It also helps me keep things clean! You can search this “Sunmore Blender Drying Rack” and try this beauty holder.

    That's a great tip to use for your beauty blender! I just got mine yesterday and it works so flawlessly! I'm so impressed by the results! Before I bought it I did research about it and looked at other videos on UA-cam to see if it was a good decision to purchase it or not; and it was! I have a question though, When purchasing your new beauty blender, Do you have to wash it before you use it? I didn't do that but others say that you have to, just for the safety from it because it's new? ..

    I don't have a beauty blender, but I am going to do this with my kitchen sponges from now on :) I change them every other day, which gets quite expensive, so time to save my money for beauty and fashion...jjaaayyy for that :D

    When I use to do makeup and hair I would go through many sponges The salon I worked in a lot of the girls reused them over and over which bothered me but I bought them out of pocket After I used the sponges on a client I would give it to I think them so they could take home. I never liked sponges even when washing dishes, Im a germa phobe for sure!! LOL!! Thanks for another great tip Tati!

    Ever since I found this video I do this everytime I’ve used it and this has never failed me (I’ve never tried it on anything other than the actual Beauty blender) I just put enough water in the container to where my sponge/s can soak up most the water and leave atleast an inch left and then I microwave

    Why didn't you wash your bb before popping it into the microwave to kill off bacteria? It's kind of like disinfecting it while it's still dirty so you should probably clean it first.
    Also, how often do you recommend that we do this trick? Once a week maybe?

    Pretty sure you can put in the freezer as well. Like after you clean it first then pop it in the freezer after it dries. And if you leave it in there overnight it should kill the bacteria. Should work in theory but idk if that might damage it somehow???

    • @skullsimmer5614
      @skullsimmer5614 8 років тому

      the freezer just slows down the bacteria growth but it doesn't kill them where as heat kills them completely
