    a tip i have for artists wanting to accept payment through paypal is to make use of invoices!! they can help protect you from scammers that’ll abuse the chargeback feature, and you can add a terms and conditions note onto the invoice itself stating that by paying the invoice, you’re accepting all of those terms!!

      @@nearyyin5648 Its like a bill. Its a commercial document the seller gives to a buyer, relating to a sale transaction and indicating the products, quantities, and agreed prices for products or services the seller had provided the buyer. Payment terms are usually stated on the invoice. There's losts of templates available as examples, and there are billing apps available that have invoice templates for you to customize and easily track and send to buyers.

    YES absolutely please make a video on ToS details! I've done so much research about some people needing to sign digital documents for formal agreements and etc and I just wanna know where and how to make them as concise and safe for me as possible. Like what are the best sites/forms to make the terms, what exactly is this written agreement as "proof that your client agreed" etc etc.

    I recently worked on a large commision where the commissioner paid 80 dollars as a deposit, and three weeks later after I finished it, the person emailed me “I’m going to cancel my order and I want a refund”. She acted as if she was canceling an order at McDonalds lol. It was so frustrating, because I spent over 60 hours on it. I didn’t give her a refund, and she spammed my Instagram that I was a conman. The entire situation was horrible. But I’m happy to say that I’ve learned from the experience, and it hasn’t happened again. I charge more for a deposit

    A guy wanted to trick me into getting a full body(!) portrait of himself done with oils(!) for free and he thought he would convince me that it was an equal exchange because he would be providing his time and body as a model(ugh) and I would be getting practice. The problem was that he is a creep that I was afraid of being alone with. If that's an equal exchange then build me a house and I'll tell you how tall I want it, it will be good practice for you.

    Elephant in the room (I'm sure many have heard about this by now, especially to those who are fresh at their journey). Would you say Fiverr might be a good place to start?
    There are several videos about people hiring different price range and getting mixed results. Some quite impressive, but many crap. I would imagine we'd experience dealing with a lot more shit than having our own websites or social media in Fiverr?... I mean it is a solid existing starting point than building our own website or building our portfolio.

    • @ahlehp

      Mr. Maxibillion, I think it honestly depends on how much you make per year? As far as I know, if you make above the minimum amount, you do have to pay some taxes. Sadly, I'm no accountant, but I would do some research in case you have to include a sales tax in your area. If you're old enough to file your income taxes, ask someone for specific financial advice for commissions if you can!! (:

I don't want to price it higher, bcuz i'm pretty sure that the ppl from my country won't be intrested in it much bcuz of the price. And i rlly do feel like my art is worth that amount of money, bcuz it provided a lot to my country's bucks. What do you think abt this?

    Is it necessary for me to have some licsence or some kind of permission to receive money through online/selling stuff online?
    Also am I supposed to be at a certain age before I sell anything online?

    • @savagefoxdesigns6692
      @savagefoxdesigns6692 2 роки тому

      Yes you need a DBA and a registered business title. I believe you can get one at age 13-14 if you have working papers and a guardians permission. You might be able to get away with selling traditional art on Craigslist under the table to local buyers. Of course if your young please get some help and supervision from your parents or an adult you and your family trusts. Honestly if your that young though it might be better to work on your craft & start studying the business side of being a professional artist. Work on building your social media following & getting your art recognized by as many people as possible. Do commissions under the table until you've laid down the foundation for your business & you will succeed! Becoming a successful professional artist is a marathon journey. This is something that on average takes many years of grinding and growing before it takes off. Some get lucky & many fail & give up. Not every artist is destined to be professional artists & that's fine as long as you love what you do that's all that matters.
      I'm currently in the process of establishing my own art business, currently centered around Stylized portraits & character design. I've spent the last 2 years laying down the ground work, improving my skills & building up my portfolio & social networks, learning about the legal & business aspects of running my own company. I have been periodically been getting more requests & commissions letting me know that my art skills are desired & marketable. I plan to officially launch open commissions in January 2022, a little over a month from now.
      Anyone interested in checking out my art can find me @
      instagram.com/savagefoxcoe/
      www.deviantart.com/savagefoxdesigns
      Professional website coming next year.
      Will follow for follow if your an artist. Any skill level, any medium! I don't follow non-art related pages unless its friends or family. I love discovering new inspiring artists & watching artists grow! I do appreciate everyone who takes the time to appreciate my work from the bottom of my heart! I just don't want non-art related posts filling my news feed, I hope you understand.

    I have a question: minimum wage in my country (converted to dollars) is ~$1,50. It is not that much, internationally speaking. I can’t charge $7,50 for a 5 hour digital painting because, as you said, it would cause harm to the art community business. Should I charge an international price average then? I don’t know, it sounds weird.

    • @snowshower4415
      @snowshower4415 2 роки тому +2

      I would maybe try to base it between how much time, effort and supplies are needed? That's what I've been doing w my planned prices. I've not done less than $10-$15 USD since that's around the min wage I believe, and hike it up by $5-$10. So like 10 for headshot lineart, 20 for half body, 30 for full. Then for ever colored version of them, i added +5
      Don't be afraid to fluctuate your prices depending on the complexity of the designs. That's also what I've seen/heard

      Use minimum wage from another country, particularly one with a large online population, like the US, UK, or Canada. The minimum wage recommendation is based on the assumption that your country's minimum wage has decent international buying power, and if yours doesn't, use another.

    do you have any ideas on pacing yourself work schedule-wise? i do the 2 person payments at a time like you said (thank you that tip helped a ton!!) but i still tend to get overwhelmed knowing there are more people waiting for me. it just hangs over my head so i just put everything else in my life on hold until i’m done with all 10 and then never want to open commissions again lol. i felt too guilty any time i wanna take a break to play a game or relax.

    Is it ok if I use a PayPal for commissions? I want to start commissions soon and I just want to make sure on what app I should use and how commissions work first!

    when it comes to safety, when receiving new email how do you know the email is for a possible commission and not a scam or a virus? I want to start doing art commissions but I am nervous about having my business email out in the open for potential viruses. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you, and have a good day!

    Would offering headshot sketches for 5$ be considered underpriced? I wanted to start off doing that but now I dunno it takes me less than twenty minutes to make them so I think it’s ok in terms of minimum wage but I’m not sure

      Nah you can always raise them if you get a lot of work. Nobody can tell you what to do with your work and your money

      @@ohno-wx6jz You do realize that a lot of people (artist) would be affected by the person decreasing the price, right?

      @@feelings298 if your art isn't good enough to deal with a little competition then maybe you should consider lowering your prices💕 plus people have low prices for different reasons, not just for profit but also to lessen the pressure a more costly commission would bring. Again, what other people do with their own money is none of your business. And 5$ for 20 minutes of work is 15$ per hour like... idk about you but that's way above minimum wage in my country.

    • @feelings298
      @feelings298 2 роки тому

      @@ohno-wx6jz yes I agree with you BUT it is also quite unfair for other artists because commissioners will only pay for low prices putting other artists out of business. I know it is none of my business what prices you charge as long as it doesn't put other artists who relay on the pay e.g me

    I don’t like pricing should be based off of time because when you become more skilled the time becomes less so the better the art could be cheaper than ass
