Actually you should see the Dance.. Kecak Dance. And the view from the upper seat is amazing. You cannot miss that one

I had the opposite happen. went to the first 6pm show and thought we could look at the temple afterwoods as we had booked the queue jump ticket and thought we could watch the sunset during the show but unfortunately by the time we found our guide, sarongs and entry tickets the arena was already nearly full so thought best to get a good seat. We were front row but then coming out afterwards the temple was closed so only saw it from a distance and didnt really see the sunset from where we were sat. Still an amazing show though

While you're in Bali, why don't you both go to see the blue lava crater in Banyuwangi. It's the only one in the world. You can ask around how to go to Kawah Ijen.
