Cole is such a fucking badass, it'd be sick to get him as another non-canon Halo Wars 2 DLC leader
HiddenXperia - The home of Halo 5 lore videos! but could it be non-canon he could have survived the battle
Matchstick 7886 Very true, it could be a cool way to announce he survived the battle
HiddenXperia - The home of Halo 5 lore videos! or he could appear in Halo 6 what's a way to announce that a fan-favorite character survived by paring him up with humanity's greatest ship against practically forerunners
Match stick already made a better game than halo 5
Matchstick 7886 Now THAT would be fucking dope - arriving unannounced out of the blue to save the Infinity or something
Anyone else wanna see a massive ship battle in halo 6
WAR PIG imagine a whole game of ship-to-ship combat!
I'd like a space RTS on the human covenant war T_T
Sins of the Prophets you mean? It's really good.
halo wars but with ships, UNSC has a numbers and resource advantage, but the covenant has a damage and defensr advantage
YES, that's what I've wanted to see more than anything in halo is more prominent naval battles
Woah, i though Cole just went down in a blaze of glory, but he took over 300 Covie ships with him. Impressive.
And probably survived, what a magnificent bastard
He didn’t die. In one of the short stories it’s strongly implied that he managed to escape and leave with the insurrection it’s woman he loved.
@@jameswallace7091 Yeah I'd say it's pretty much confirmed. It's way too large of a coincidence that he *probably* pulled almost the exact same trick as his wife did around a gas giant.
@@Ripa-Moramee i believe he deserves it yes he may be a deserter but he deserves to live the rest of his life in peace for all he did for humanity and i hope he did
Cole's balls
I'm gonna go with my gut feeling and say that Cole almost definitely survived and is probably smooching with his rebel lady-friend on some pristine romantic beach at Emerald Cove.
I mean hey, there isn't any actual record of the covies glassing that place, and the UNSC has yet to really go back there, so it's the perfect hiding spot. Assuming it wasn't glassed. Of course.
Rozza he also probably got that farm he's always wanted
The Mute Button it was glassed sadly
What if he hates sand? It’s rough and gets everywhere
Oni did detect a slip space rupture before the explosion reached his ship and the agent surmised that Cole did escape and and actually refused to continue looking for Cole cause he didn't want to assassinate a legend.
emerald cove got glassed
Admiral Cole's Never Die, their just Missing In Action...
Admiral Cole's never die. They're just missing in action. ****
The Turbanator LOL
Every single spartan 2 is just a clone of admiral cole
F
@@oniagent391 shut up past me
So none of the battle is new to me but I finally understand why Cole "ran away." I had no idea he was in a relationship with an insurrectionist. It makes sense now.
He'd also been in war for most of his life and the lives he sacrificed during the Covenant War really weighed on him.
Sven van der Plank Read Halo Legend if you haven't already, Great book with several stories from different authors, Preston Cole's story is among them.
Starfleet HQ Noob-TubeR *Halo Evolutions
Halo Canon Yes correct!!! Halo Evolutions, I LITERALLY just grabbed it off the shelf and dusted it off. RIGHT before I read this response. I'm going to be reading it again tonight :) BTW I LOVE your vids!!!! Halo is my JAM!!!
Cole was also suffering long-term mental problems, partially stemming from his failed marriage and being cut off from his kids, partially from his relationship with Lyrenne Castilla, the following scandal, and her supposed death, and he also began to drink heavily.
Discovering that Lyrenne was, in fact, alive, I think he kind of snapped and had had enough. He was going to win one more victory, make it his greatest and grandest ever, and finally he would earn some peace wherever he went to ground.
Love to know what Cole's total kill count is.
TheWelshmaN I'd say 500 ish
Millions...
TheWelshmaN 300 ships+? He's rivaling John.
Well over 300 ships. That rivals the Spartan-II operation First Strike, which (which was ~500 ships, 488 I think to be more exact), and the Nova Bomb tactic to destroy the majority of the Combined Fleet of Righteous Purpose (I think they said only 2/5 of the fleet survived, so that would be at least be 300 ships destroyed)...And by the time the Jiralhanae had arrived at Joyous Exultation to lay siege to it, both the fleet and the planet as well as its moon were already destroyed (according to Halo Encyclopedia). Some of the surviving ships went to reinforce Voro Nar 'Mantakree's fleet at Onyx, though these were eventually destroyed by the Onyx sentinels. The rest were assumed to go to Sanghelios or other Sangheili strongholds to protect them from potential Jiralhanae threats.
Few, sorry for the mouthful.
they have stated in the books that he has a hire kill count than john
I do hope he survived and lives in a small planet with a small plantation. I do know that if he did survive and is found, UNSC will charge him with treason for going AWOL.
While I do want to agree with you, I not so sure. Especially with some of the stuff I've read from the novels and comics. If they did find Cole, UNSC would keep that a secret from the public and UEG and first conduct a closed door military hearing and investigation.
Like I said, if he did survive his supposed Last Stand, then the fact that he's never contacted the UNSC in any way means he's gone AWOL and in a war that one, they won't look too kindly to that. Hero or not. God knows how different the war would've gone if he was there till the end. Hell, ONI will probably question the strategy he employed in the battle. Accusing that it was set up so he could run without no one being the wiser, sacrificing many ships and their crew all to get out of the military. That is so what ONI would do.
Mecha-san If he did survive then I bet he would be smart enough to damage his communications systems and his slipspace drive so that when the UNSC or ONI found him he could say he was shipwrecked on a planet and they would be more likely to not court martial him
Still questions to be asked but if he does it right, who knows. Assuming he did survive. Though, thinking about it, if he did survive, I think he'd have died already. Especially when I think about all the medical problems he had. Like three heart surgeries before being reinstated to fight the Covenant? Death by natural causes would be a miracle for him. One he more than deserves.
Nah, Cole wouldn't be subjected to a court martial or imprisonment. He was pulled out of retirement to fight the Covenant. He did all he was required to. ONI would likely quietly shoo him off and deny having ever rediscovered him.
If anything, he'll be caught up on the war and given an official-not-official honorable discharge. Hell, ONI might even officially declare him KIA, stating that under careful examination, no slipstream portal was ever confirmed and not enough evidence is available to draw a conclusion.
However, Cole would be kept up to date with whatever is going on and ONI would consult him. I think that somebody as practical as Osman would want his input but not his interference.
Dylan Wight I would like to think cole is in ONI currently watching over everything waiting for a moment to get out of the woodwork and return as a badass
Commander Cole is a FUCKING SAVAGE!!!!
What a brilliant battle plan! oh my goodness!
RebelOfTheNorm242 ikr wow if only he was still in service for the unsc the war would be even more badass =D
RebelOfTheNorm242 pardon me but it ain't commander it's vice admiral cole
I'm a big fan of Halo: Fleet Battles, and seeing the ship numbers and silhouettes in diagrams really gives an appreciation of the in-lore ship combat and and size that the books may not be able to convey without glossing over them as just a statistic.
Admiral Cole is the ultimate badass. Really hope he made it out and will turn up again as a final insult to the Covenant.
god damn Cole destroy the covenant I wonder if it took the covenant long to recoup the losses of 300 ships, they have at least that many ships protecting High Charity I think
Ronald McDonald Trump in the grand scheme of things, 300 ships was a significant loss but not all that devastating at all. The covenant had a TON of ships (to put it lightly)
Ronald McDonald Trump iirc the covenant have battle groups of a dozen or so ships regularly but only fleets like particular justice and the one that protects high charity are so large. and are usually amassed with purpose..
like attacking reach or earth. If the covenant amass fleets of hundreds it leaves them vulnerable in certain areas. Although in one of the halo novels a fleet of over 500 sangheili separatist battle cruisers prepared to hit earth around the same time regret did and they met with a quick end thanks to the Nova bomb. Another large fleet was destroyed while at the massive station unyielding hyrophant. It's been a long time since I've read the novels. but I'm sure that's how it went down.
Humanity was getting its ass kicked yet still tallied more than double their naval losses in kills thanks to blue team, Cole, and grey team
I personally think that war was going very bad for the Covenant, they lost a shit ton of ships at Psi Serpentis, than at Reach, than during operation First Strike and Earth. The loss of High Charity was the final nail in the coffin
@John Doe The covenant space station destroyed was called Unyeilding Heirophant dipshit not "Uneven Elephant" jesus christ.
Really liked the level of detail brought in by the ship silhouettes. Although I read the story about the battle a few times in the books and they tell it very well, seeing it like that really gives you an idea of how the battle played out.
they need take this into a movie 😀
Can't, crash the economy as people pay thrice or more to see the fucking amazing space battle.
Believe it or not, I'm going to work on making a short film on this battle using a sandbox game called "Space Engineers" where I can build all the ships (probably really small ones at abou 1:50 scale as well as 1:10 scale set pieces for closer shots) and make it all work! Working on the screenplay now, in fact.
MrEvan312 did you do it?
Project Halo wars that’d be interesting
While I won't say whether or not I believe Cole survived (it _is_ war after all, people do die, even heroes), if he did, I wouldn't mind him crawling out of the woodwork right now, we kinda need him. Could you imagine him in command of something like the _Infinity_?
KnightRider378 That will be epic! Halo 4 would be "When legends meet each other".
KnightRider378 YOU MORHERFUFKEJSNDBE HEROES NEVER DIE DONT YOU KNOW THAT
KnightRider378 and if he was in charge of the infinity he'd be more than capable to destroy anything that gets in his way
Yeah, imagine if he took command of the infinity, a ship that had only one flaw, it's captain.
bogustoast22 none hey captain Lasky is a good captain but he does tend to go with risky moves
My parents bought me the Cole Protocol book years ago because my name is Cole x'D
*comes out of retirement*
*starts winning every naval engagement he's in*
*refuses to elaborate*
*leaves*
Admiral Cole is a fuckin UNIT
This was interesting, outside of the Halo Wars comic and The Cole Protocol,I had no idea why Admiral Cole was so special.
I love how cole gave the biggest middle finger at the covenant before dying
Fantastic video! Really shows how exciting Halo's space combat is. Spacedock should hopefully gain some well deserved subscribers after this week.
Amen!
Halo's space combat is the best.
Sins of the Prophets I want a game of this like a legit title for space combat not some mod I want a full on title for halo space combat
Skyrim Plays Games k
Fun fact, the same technology that is in the mac cannon, can be used to improve covenant ship weapons. Just ask cortana.
He's the captain jack sparrow of the halo universe
Ultimate combo: Keyes, Cole and Cutter commanding the infinity
AKA
Halo's version of Creed.
AKA "Hurr Tactical Genius"
More or less. Not so much "see that rock? Its actually a baneblade" and a little bit more "Do some crazy shit that may not work but holy shit it did!"
The third of the Great Trinity of sci-fi tactical minds; Creed, Thrawn and Cole.
Aurelius Talis CREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEED!!! Or in this case: COOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOLE!!!
samuel hillman "Outflanking Dwarf Star"
Trollzyn:I want this Admiral in my collection!!!!!!!!!!!
Man, I would love to hear more descriptions of Halo fleet battles like this.
I'd like to say he survived, but slipspace made by the shaw-fujikawa drives (as far as I remember) had problems when activating while there was a considerable gravity pull nearby.
Very interesting. I'm not terribly familiar with the Halo comics and other extended media (special edition content etc) but this was cool to see.
Some of my favourite stuff from Halo novels are space battles, which I really think are not given enough importance and are underused in the games which I why I got a real kick from Halo Reach's space segments and the Halo 2 remastered cutscenes involving spacecraft. The In Amber Clad chasing Solemn Penance through the in-atmosphere slipspace jump being my favourite followed by the battle near Cairo Station during the battle of Earth.
I would love to see a Halo Novel or collection of stories focussed entirely on the activities of an important or famous ship and its crew in any era; pre, post and during the covenant war.
I heard Preston J. Cold was so bad-ass, he went double platinum with no features
this is great! i would like to see some ground based battles in this format
This vídeo resumes pretty well what has halo Lost with halo 5. The dread, a sense of sadness impregnating It all. No Hope yet still a dimming light on the Horizon to catch to.
Nos, go to A, kill the warden.
Go to B, kill the warden.
warden, warden ,warden...
MoppyPuppy "I can't wait for halo 6 where we can kill cortana and restore humanity's internet"
I freakin died LOL
MoppyPuppy LOL
She took away the porn!! Lol
complain, complain, complain
complain, complain, complain
This should be a movie.
What a fucking badass!
Oh my god... I have never realized how much of a badass person Cole was. I only knew he was a hero of war, a genius who praised Jacob Keyes, and the creator of the Cole Protocol but this was incredible.
(THANK YOU VERY MUCH *HALO CANON* ! I'm glad to be a subscriber. )
A wonderful and tidy coverage of Cole and his last stand, you hit all the main points on the head and still made room for the subtleties as well. Awesome video Toa! I love the ship silhouettes and the overall diagram of the battle, it really was visually pleasing to see. Can't wait for the next parts to come in this series!
he is not dead but I think he is working for ONI we need this guy to defeat cortana I'm missing cap keys man
Bet he used the same calculation cortana used on the ascendant justice to make an in atmospheric jump.
My favorite non-game character in the halo series!
Mine was Kurt-051.
1) I love how Cole made a gas giant go supernova. I had no idea something like that was possible.
2) where the insurrectionists part of cole's plan or something?
3) Shame about his "Cole protocol" however. After halo 2 the protocol basically was useless. I wonder how he would have reacted to that.
Actually it was "just" a nova. Which in this case means that the gas giant ignited into a star.
No the Cole Protocol was not useless, there was still human colonies that had to be protected.
2. Yes. Though never directly stated, it's implied that he somehow contact the Bellicose and her captain before the battle.
3. Technically yes, but as IsoDidact said, there were other colonies out there to protect.
Even if a large portion of his Fleet was destroyed, he still ignited the nearby Gas Giant to destroy the Covenant’s Fleet. 😂
HOLY SHIT! We *need* a Blur cutscene of this battle!
That was one brilliant use of a three dimensional environment to use a defeat in detail style doctrine against half of the covie fleet.
I've got a fan theory about Cole.
Cole disappeared in 2543 at the age of 73 (could be younger due to years in Cryo though). Throughout Halo initiation and escalation, we keep hearing reference to an insurrectionist Admiral Drake in 2553 and 2558. It could be that Cole escaped the Battle of Psi Serpentis, met up with his insurrectionist lover and was turned against the UNSC by her and is operating under the name of Admiral Drake. He wouldn't be that old (remember Hood is 68 in 2558) so it is possible he could be still active.
Just a theory
+MoppyPuppy I know it may be stupid, but TRUE LOVE makes men do stupid things. Once someone has experienced TRUE LOVE, they do crazy things that go against their principles. They may even go and kill the children of 100 planets just to see their beloved lover's beautiful smile.
I like the ship visuals! They should remaster Evolutions and add those in
Gave me nostalgia hearing and watching this. Made me remember why halo was such a great outlet of storytelling and sacrifice.
What would fit better?
“ I’M READY, HOW ABOUT YOU” or
“ sent me out with a bang.”
You've got a movie right there.
Cole, you cheeky bastard! Well done my good man! Well done indeed!
Happy Thanksgiving everyone! :D
When they first announced the Halo show, I was really hoping they would use it to tell stories like this. Always wanted to have a live action/animated retelling of Cole's Last Stand, but unfortunately, that didn't happen.
I reallywant to believe Ad. Cole survived but not to see another battle, another ship and soldier's life lost, but more like to have a better life; also, we "could" have him back on Halo 6.
And as it was said on Gladiator: "Its easier to wash dirt from hands than blood".
There needs to be a game about Admiral Cole.
Really enjoyed this, it was fascinating!
Cole is the Thrawn of Halo and I love him for being it.
I'm out of words.....
I did the math
Cole's kill count is About 572,862 covenant deaths
03:35 on the screen I counted 174 Corvettes with 268 crew members each, 57 CCS class Battlecruisers with 7,290 crew members each, and 48 Destroyers with 2,457 crew members each.
So 147 corvettes x 268 = 39,396 crew, 57 CCS class Battlecruisers x 7,290 = 415,530 crew, and 48 Destroyers x 2,457 = 117,936 crew,
39,396 + 415,530 + 117,936 = 572,862 crew members.
I've been waiting so long for this
Fother Mucker! Cole is the man.
Halo Evolutions introduced me to this character and I've loved him ever since. I read his story so many times. He's my favorite character this far. I still think about how heroic he was and then how he was forgotten only to be asked to come back later on and how ever then, he read books and stayed sharp. It may sound stupid, but although he's just a fictional character, he sorta shaped me.
Thanks for the animation! Good video too!
Dang! Causing the planet to go super nova to wipe out the covenant fleet. I feel that Cortana would love Admiral Cole. She like's crazy.
I wish there was a halo ship game like Star Trek online and halo infinite combined meaning you can be boarded and fight yourself, or request ODSTs and long swords to prevent it and etc.
I like how Halo Heros be like he was outnumbered but then he blew up a star a everybody died lol
Holy crap. I was planning to do videos like these after watching Roman formation and battle videos.
Plot twist: Cole took his own protocol far too seriously, and is still engaging in a random series of jumps before heading back to either Reach or Earth.
So this son of a bitch turned a planet into a a fucking star and destroyed an entire covenant fleet? That's pretty badass.
Cole vs Thrawn - No winners.
Holy shit, what a badass. I don't remember reading about Cole in any of the Halo books. I must have missed it.
It's from Halo Evolutions, the short story "The Impossible Life and Possible Death of Preston J. Cole"
He certainly went out with a BANG.
Great video, needed a refresher about this battle, thanks!
My man pulled a Dash Rendar. God damn I love halo lore
so Cole is essentially the Master Chief of space warfare?
Outstanding video, thanks.
I came here purely because I heard the Insurrectionists helped here and if I’m honest this was awesome, he literally called up fucking terrorists to get assistance, I need to get the source
367 likes, 0 dislikes... What, a few hours after posting? Great job, my friend!
When you’re so awesome that you put a new star in the sky.
Hey toa happy thanksgiving
Likewise, Happy Thanksgiving!
They should definitly bring Cole back in one of future games! He is darn genius.
COLE LIVES!
YES YES YES YES THIS WAS MY FAVORITE STORY FROM THAT BOOK I LOVE YOU MAN. I WISH THEY WOULD MAKE THIS A MOVIE
Absolutely LOVE your content bro!
it would be so fucking sick if Cole made a cameo in Halo 6
cole totally ditched the UNAC in an act of total badassery and that insurrection fleet cant be a coincidence.
Gotta love how a insurrection just flys right through a covenant fleet relatively easily
What a legend
I don’t think it was an overly massive blow to the covenant but it was a surprise and and a setback. Plus a large moral booster for the unsc and all of humanity. So this was definitely a significant battle.
I think they should really make a video game about this moment. Like you play a solder who is under Col's personal command and you play campaigns that helps this moment and justify his plausible desertion.
I love halo space battles
this was awesome.
Wow, this all started on my birthday
Holy fuck that was ridiculous
I really reckon that he escaped after the detonation. If he makes an appearance in future halo games, that'd be amazing.
It would be awesome if it's revealed in one of the next Halo games that he survived and maybe just maybe he's in a cryo pod and is used to help fight Cortana
It would be beautiful if the Infinity found Cole and his ship in Halo 6.
Love these videos! Keep up the great work!
He who fights then runs away, lives to fight another day.
Cole didn't flee , it was a "Strategic Withdrawal"
👽💚
Viperidi is 10-20% larger than the sun.
I wonder how many different covenant ship classes there were I saw CCS and CPV’s but the little covenant ships what were they
alright 2 things, 1. talk about going out like a badass! and 2. it would be really cool if he comes back in Halo 6, like the infinity finds his ship floating in space and they find him and his crew stuck in cryo sleep
Cole is a major badass.
been as smart as he was i do see him making another return in halo 6
I want to have only a ship battle game Shipmaster or Captain Lasky to be in the game along with the Bloody Cole never forgotten
