We live just above sea level in a swamp. What do they expect? Move. It's hard to feel sorry for those millionaires.
These homes had been there nearly 70 years. This kind of flooding is a relatively recent phenomenon.
Why build or buy there? Its mind boggling.

Do they get a discount for living in that area? Are houses cheaper or are they just the same
When I was shopping for homes, homes in flooding areas were cheaper to buy, and non flooding areas were considerably more expensive

All the mentally challenged people in the comments don’t understand that developers are supposed to build retention reservoirs because urban sprawl results in flooding. The counties and cities that approved these building plans are responsible for approving plans that created this problem.
No one is forcing people to buy homes in flood prone areas.

Well all then need to be denied financial help because of the fact that they keep rebuilding their it should be on them not tax dollars to rebuild their after using the money for the first time they should have been told to go buy a new house outside the flood zone not to rebuild and have it happen again and again matter of fact all those houses in the floods on should be knocked down just like I used to do the old abandoned section 8 homes does places need to be taken away by the government so we don't have to continue paying for them to rebuild
