When people have been telling you that this woman can sing literally anything, they’ve probably seen this as part of the evidence. She can rock it!!! When she did KOMS she was having a real crisis in confidence thinking that she wasn’t good enough & that nobody wanted to hear her sing. She said that doing this show with the comfort of been anonymous behind the mask was a halfway house on her introduction back in to the world of performing. Obviously it went amazingly & the rest is history. Unlike your initial thoughts, the audience & the panel made up of other famous singers didn’t know that it was Sohyang, even though we just think that her voice is very recogniseable. When she did this show she was very much just known in the CCM world & not mainstream in Korea. I watched all her performances & most of the film that ran after the performances with subtitles & the comments from the distinguished guests & they were continually flabbergasted by her vocals. Some of the guests said they had wanted to come on the show just to see what she sounded like live in the studio. I will send you the link to the video that shows sohyang’s journey on KOMS which contains some of the comments etc for each performance. She set a new record for the show because after the initial round of a couple of performances sharing the stage, she then went on to win & remain queen for an unprecedented 7 continuous weeks. Her character by the way was ‘spirited old lady’ & if you watch her performances carefully you can see that each week her costume changes slightly to match the theme/genre of song she is singing, hence in ‘mona Lisa’ she is wearing a pink leather biker jacket because this is more of a rock song. You now have a whole new Sohyang ‘rabbit hole’ to go down & let me tell you, she will not let you down
