I want to say thank you to all who made this movie. I lived this sad story when I was eleven years old, twenty years ago. This movie made me very sad but also very proud of myself.😢
I agree! I just read that his mother did actually die couple of years before A Monster Calls was made. Needless to say, I cried both during and after the movie.
Lewis potrayed the role magnificently, in my opinion. This film became one of my top favorites and he's part of the reason. And no one can ignore Liam. His voice acting was great! Awesome! Beautiful! Incredible! Okay that's it. Anyways Lewis' still young, he's got a bright future ahead of him and i hope he do more good roles.
Lost my mom, who was my everything, just last year. This movie felt like my life when she was in the hospital for a month. I just happened to pick this movie to watch on her birthday today.
I saw him in 'PAN' and sadly that movie didn't do justice. But so happy that Lewis got to be in a better movie. Big things ahead for him. I met the cast during TIFF. Great kid. :)
I'm a person who easily get tear up by the end of a movie. First, The Schindler's List where he played as Oskar Schindler. Then, A Monster's Call. Both movies that Liam Neeson made a great acting, were so amazing. 👏 Plus, I'm his huge fan and adored him so much.❤
I love this movie. A very powerful story with a young man child dealing with the the evil of cancer....his mum suffering with this disease and his saving grace is a special tree.
This little guy - is one of the most impressive young actors I've EVER seen in any film. Good Good movie. I'm intrigued that in the movie - his accent was very limited.
i just watched it today and the first thing i felt was "envy". He has a mother and i have too. But their "bond" makes me cry and that's what made me frustrated. The boy did really get me whenever his tears start to fall. Love this movie😭
I saw this movie this morning! I cried- related to my late mom's dying and what I said out loud- Make it stop! My late mom taught me how to receive death. she looked like she was sleeping and was smiling [after tubes were removed]. I whispered in her right ear "you done good." a tear came down and that was all. most beautiful experience!
My mother died the same way. Same breaking cancer, same failing treatments. This movie was hard for me to watch. I think we all have spoken to the monster in orther to get through something like this.
A cry of hope. I think this book / film should be read / seen by all adults and offered in schools to children from 11 years old. It speaks directly of some essential truths, unavoidable, sometimes uncomfortable but which, if accepted, can be faced and managed even if not canceled. Why is it like this: we are all made of light and shadow, no one is perfect. We can all have "bad" thoughts, we all make mistakes but being able to talk about them, being able to confront each other without fear of being judged is the first step to understand ourselves, others, to change, to forgive and forgive ourselves. So that the fourth story can conclude as often as possible with a simple act of love. And that it is an apparently monstrous looking being that makes us feel so brave and safe as to cry out our discomfort and not a benign and pleasant spirit is a paradox to reflect on in this society of ours so linked to appearances. In this world where we no longer talk to children about suffering and death, trying in vain to protect them, end up having adults who cannot manage difficulties, pain and loss or even what is really important and can make them happy. I recommend seeing this film of 2019 too, delicate and profound: A nice day in the neighborhood Talking about Mr. Rogers
I remember I saw this movie on TV assuming it was gonna be a fantasy film like Lord of the Rings or Harry Potter or something like that. I had to find out the hard way it was a tearjerker. And on top of that, my mom was on the couch practically bawling, and she said at the end of the film, "Liam, you're lucky I watch these kinds of movies with you!" and I felt kinda like an idiot because I had no idea this would be a sad film. I still loved it in the long run, though.
Saw this movie shortly after my mom died after a bout with ALS. It was difficult to watch, but I'd say it was the strongest emotional reaction I've had with a film. Benji the Hunted would be #2. :P

This movie made me think of the film Kes. A film about grief and loss from the 70's.
Saw this movie shortly after my mom died after a bout with ALS. It was difficult to watch, but I'd say it was the strongest emotional reaction I've had with a film. Benji the Hunted would be #2. :P
