28:45 in the original show, Megatron did what was known as mass shifting and transformed into a handgun that the other transformers could hold. This has since been abandoned by most modern iterations because it makes more sense for him to stay the same size and also because they can’t sell a toy gun without an orange tip. Shockwave did this as well
If i remember correctly, in the original cartoon "transforming"was invented by the Autobots to fight against the Decepticons, since the Autobots were moreso physical labour while the Decepticons were military hardware, so by transforming they could take their enemies by surprise. In other continuities, such as the Alligned Universe, the original 13 Primes each had a special ability, among them being Amalgamous Prime who was constantly shifting and changing. Eventually the Primes each entered the Well of Allsparks, in which they each put a part of themselves, which future generations could inherit. Transformation became a base gene basically, while others were randomised (Beast Forms, Minicons) Also fun fact, they did originally start off with more mechanical face designs in mind, but when none of their concepts seemed to work, they went back to the original G1 cartoon for reference

Paramount failed this movie, the marketing made it seem like a kids movie full of goofy jokes. Please tell everyone about this movie, buy it digitally and/or physically. It needs all the help we can get if we want a sequel
In the g1 megatron was a pistol. In the Michael Bay movies he's been a cybertronian jet, a culybertronian tank, a water tank truck, a semi truck as galvatron, and he was gonna be a dragon in the last knight but they changed it last minute to a be an aircraft (which is why his transformation doesn't really make any sense)
Megatron was a gun in the original cartoon/comics. He has been both an aircraft and a tank since then, even in the Michael Bay films (Jet in the 1st, Tank in the 2nd etc)
In the original G1 cartoon, the Cybertronian race was created by the Quintessons for use as either labor or soldiers. Cybertron was a planet sized factory. (Primus appeared in later continuities, but I've always imagined him being the computer that controlled robot production.) Eventually, there was a robot rebellion, and the Quintessons were forced off Cybertron. From an engineering perspective, transformation would be a useful attribute for a robot to have. They could change their shape to fit the task at hand, sort of like a Swiss Army knife.
Initially, the Transformers were from Japan and to launch them in the US, Hasbro commissioned Marvel to make a basic lore for these toys to make an animated series. Megatron was in the "Destron" toy line and was number 16 (D-16) and transformed into a gun, in the original series he had the average size of a transformer but inexplicably shrank when transforming into a gun, then over the years they began to make the stories before the toys and Megatron would not have a definitive alternate mode, sometimes it was a kind of jet, other times a dragon but what was most repeated was a tank (even in some modern reinterpretations of the first generation of transformers they portray Megatron as a tank instead of a gun)
The Transfomers transform into vhicles because in most continuities they were 1. Created by the Quintessons, who used them as a slave workforce, 2.Their 'biology' was meddled with by the Quintessons, who used them as a slave workforce. This is why they have humanoid faces too. (because they were created/transformed by an organic race) Also idk if you watch series on this channel or just movies, but if you liked this movie you could give a chance to Transformers Prime pilot episodes. TF One took a ton of lore elments from TFP, and form the continuity TFP takes place in.

In that continuity the Quintessons created the Transformers who were the slaves of the Quintessons (the Quintessons also took some of their cogs, to keep them weak). Later the Transformers rebelled against the Quintessons and kicked them off of Cybetron, earing their freedom. Daredevil is such a great show. :)

I just don't like the rushed ending, they should've slow cooked Megatrons turn more and made it happen in the second movie cause him droppin Optimus is unbelivable to me tbh
Bro why would they span the origin over the course of 2 or more films...ask for a series to do that for you. Not a movie. Especially not a movie that had bad marketing like this one did
Honestly, him snapping for the third time when Orion got in his way is reasonable because Orion was trying to stir him away from that violence since they found out the truth. Orion went to far in D-16's eyes by getting in line of his shot and getting injured.

The Quintessons creating the Transformers was really only in G1 and maybe Bayverse. Every other version that addresses their creation uses this lore.
