Well, maybe if they cast real dancers they would have had a shot...if I danced like that when I was a soloist, my dance instructors would have removed me from pointe and made me take a beginner class with the 5-7 age division (that was a real punishment 17 years ago).
That wasn't even a dance. And I don't think many of the performers were dancers either! They couldn't point their feet! So disappointing. I really like the original Center Stage.

Massive is a polite understatement. That was kind of you. I can't imagine how hard it was for the real dancers from the original movie to be filmed sitting in the audience, acting like they were watching something 'amazing'. LOL. They should get some type of award for that!
Wow you guys missed the point about this movie they're added modern dancing to it. I love this dance but I've been a dancer and I love modern dancing to. I like the fact that they're mixing different types of dancing and makes it interesting and unique.
To me it looks like they decided on the song for this scene after they had already filmed it, so they had to slow down the footage to make it match a 'popular' song. Because music is what drives choreography and it should be designed to fit a specific piece of music that's why it looks so strange. I noticed that with a lot of the dance scenes in this movie, I understand adding the track after filming so there is no background noise, but it seems like they changed songs in post production which is so weird.
I thought this was really cool and exciting and kind of frenetic, and I was impressed right until I realized that my youtube player was set to 1.25 speed.
As being educated in Ballett and contemporary and theatre dance I know the differences. But this is just nothing, some Brown mixture of trying to get a connection. Neither balletish, nor expressional, nor surprising new movements. It's sad to know so many amazing dancers that won't get a job but than having a movie where they take so bad dancers / choreographys. Also still having this seperated Woman-man thing - that's just not modern at all. But actually, most dance movies don't show the reality of the dance world anyways

Feet straight outta Sickled City here. I've never seen this show, is this supposed to be a kids' showcase? I really hope they weren't trying to pass this off as a portrayal of an actual ballet company.
It just seems as if this very unentertaining, actually kinda boring dance was choreographed to a different song. The music seems so random with the movements. I also don't understand why they used those slowmo shots because they just drag it all even more.

And when they were dancing they were doing two different types of dance, it was modern dance and ballet. So yes there are going to be times where they don't point their feet cuz I did the same thing when I dance to dance modern dance and ballet altogether.
