I still use a Cyclone seeder my father in law had in the 1980s. Had to patch and reinforce a few places with gorilla tape over the past years. The canvas bag is like me, getting older and more fragile.
Looking fwd to plow day!! Things went well with your Rye!! I wish I had a nickel for every hopper full of seed I have sown with a seeder identical to that one!! The spring shut off is amazing!! Prayers for all the hurricane victims, thank you Joey!!!
Hey Joey, good video! I like those old bag spreaders. If you see a zipper on the top you can put more seed in it without dropping it on the ground. Keep up the good work!
Soil improvement Rye. Nitrogen for corn Crimson Clover. Look into it. I could be wrong.
Right! Rye grass & Winter Rye are completely different animals. I warned you last year and you said oops! Other folks just joining, this is an important point. Annual Rye vs. Winter Rye = Lawn vs Cover crop.
Yes! To winter Rye. No! To annual Rye. If you terminate it correctly you'll gain much soil enrichment from the deeply tilled & plentiful roots. Could do Crimson clover, nitrogen fixing legume that is easy to know when to terminate. Enjoy the flowers for a couple days then mow, strictly speaking about the clover.
Are you still planning on planting the plow day field on plow day? Makes me wonder if anyone else would bring a disk too 🤔
Sure is fun watching the 140 my favorite small farm tractor go through the field.
