I just purchased one thank you for the review . it looks like such a luxury hotel room compared to the tiny small lunchboxes i saw for small animals by Sherpa.
+Alex Buck When you arrive at the airport, you have to check-in with the desk when flying with a pet. They do not let you use the kiosk. They will take payment for the fee to fly a pet in cabin, and may ask to see how the pet fits in the carrier. Then you can check your bags and head to security check point. First, remove your shoes, belt, keys, laptop etc. Lastly, take your cat out and place the carrier on the moving belt. You have to pass the carrier (without the pet in it) through like all carry-ons. At this time, someone from TSA will direct you past the metal detector. They should help you collect your belongings (if not, have someone you are traveling with watch your things as they come of the belt) then they will escort you to a smaller area to the side where they will swab your hands. Because you have to remove your cat from the bag, you should invest in a metal free harness/collar and leash. I used the TSA fast pass collar and leash (ebay/amazon). If you have any other questions don't hesitate to ask!
Thank you soon much for this Very informative review of this bag. We're hoping to use it for a cat for a 7 hr overseas flight. We appreciate your help!
Fantastic review. I'll be flying with a 12lb cat, so I purchase the small size. My question to you is, did you have to take your pet out of the bag through security? Or did they use the hand wand instead?

Thank you so much. I don't yet have a pup but I am about to. I just had to prepare and I enjoy your videos a lot. So I decided you would be an amazing person to ask! Thank you so much!!
My dog is 6 kg/13lbs, 14 inches tall and 17 inches long. He is very thin, light and flexible so easy to turn around and he likes to curl up in a ball when he sleeps. Do you think L is ok or I should take chance with xl so I can bring my baby in the cabin?
Hi, the XL is very large. I recommend if you can go to Petsmart/Petco and try out the Sherpa medium. It has about the same footprint as the large sturdibag, so if your dog fits comfortably in the sherpa medium, then the sturdibag large should work. Take a look at these links from people who have used the XL sturdibag on flights. www.dogjaunt.com/2013/01/readers-report-update-on-traveling-with-large-small-dog-in-an-xl-sturdibag-carrier/ www.dogjaunt.com/2012/04/montage-monday-an-xl-sturdibag-in-position-under-an-airplane-seat/ www.dogjaunt.com/2016/08/readers-report-the-xl-sturdibag-in-cabin-carrier-for-a-tall-miniature-poodle/
Your pup should fit. To be sure, I recommend going to petco/petsmart, and trying the Sherpa medium. It has the same footprint as the sturdibag large. If your pup is comfortable in that, the sturdibag should work.
Unfortunately we live in Asia and we don’t have petco or petsmart. Most pet shops here don’t sell carriers. We will order a sturdi bag from amazon and just hope it fits. 🙃
Hi, thank you for watching! We flew in the Summer. It was so busy, they didn't. I don't know if that is standard for Southwest and other airlines, but they did not weigh her/carrier.
Yes, for the flight I took (Southwest) it fit under the middle seat. However, all airlines have different restrictions, so make sure to check their website. The sturdibag is designed to have a lot of give in it though, and should work under most seats.
Hi there. If I am correct, bloodhound pups are pretty leggy even at 8 weeks. The max height of the carrier is 12 inches. Try to measure your pup from shoulders down to the feet, if your pup is under a foot, then they may fit. Another idea would be to see if your puppy fits comfortably in a sherpa carrier. They sell them at petsmart. You should be able to try it out in the store. The sturdi bag and sherpa are roughly similar in size. If your puppy doesn't seem comfortable in the sherpa, the sturdi bag may be too small as well. Thanks for watching.
Dog Paw Blog Thank you for the response! I actually sent this video to the breeder I look to be getting my pup from and she said it should work. So fingers crossed!!

Would this be a good bag for Miniature Schnauzer, I was thinking perhaps the Extra Large?
The extra large might be a little large to fit under the seat if you are flying.
Dog Paw Blog What about for a 10 pound toy Miniature Schnauzer I think it would be an okay fit?
Coco is around 10 lbs, so it should work. Just be sure to measure your pup (height and length)

Is there a pet comfort area because my dog when you even open up a carry case a crack he just springs out and is like HELLO
There is a small opening along the top. If your dog is small enough, they could slip out.
Hi, I was wondering if the strap is long enough that you can carry the bag cross the body?
Thank you
Hi. Unfortunately, it is not really long enough. More just for a shoulder carry.
Do you think this would be big enough for a small Shetland sheepdog
How much does your dog weigh, and how long?
15.5 inches Long from chest to base of tail
16 lbs (we think)

Did they ever weigh your dog in the bag ?
Hi, thank you for watching! We flew in the Summer. It was so busy, they didn't. I don't know if that is standard for Southwest and other airlines, but they did not weigh her/carrier.
Is the carrier suitable for carry on under seat storage?
Yes, for the flight I took (Southwest) it fit under the middle seat. However, all airlines have different restrictions, so make sure to check their website. The sturdibag is designed to have a lot of give in it though, and should work under most seats.

My dogs wont even get in it , they hate it 😭
Do you believe an 8 week bloodhound puppy will fit in here?
