Just beautiful,no matter how many times I listen and watch... if only more people could see it. Maybe would be more of us who aren't afraid to say- free Tibet, finally. Let it heal. And let it blossom. Let us all enjoy.

Many thanks for this wonderful gift, again and again and again showering us with absolute grace.
For those who want the Tibetan text (standard Buddist prayer, melody composed by Yungchen Lhamo):

I need this song tonight. My 13 year old dog passed away today. After losing my wife in December, my father in law in January and one of my favorite singers who helped me heal the last 9 months I am a bit lost tonight. This music is so beautiful, healing, calming, and the mountains I love so.

+lurking0death I would love that very much. Perhaps some day i will be able to do so. I have not traveled out of US since I was a child and my father was in Germany. 1964. Now I have a couple trips I dream about. Thank you for your comment. I have had 2 CD's of hers for over 20 years. This song is one of my favorite of any type of music I have ever heard. The video makes it even better and she is so beautiful.

I saw this video back around 2001 give or take a year and had it DVR'd for replay, but when I moved in January 2004 I lost it and only a few days ago discovered this here on UA-cam. Oddly enough as I looked for it here I could not remember the name exactly and the name that kept popping up in my head was Aum Shinrikyo -- the Japanese terrorist group that dispensed Sarin in the Japanese subway. Somehow I managed to find the name Younchen Lhamo and that wrung a bell. Then I saw the song name "Happiness Is..." and that brought me back. Lastly, it took a couple versions of this song to reconnect with the video I'd seen nearly 14 years ago.
This song and this video are pretty amazing in the blending of eastern and western musical influences and beautiful by any description. Yungchen's voice is amazing and the music is serene. Glad to have found this piece after so long.

These false criticisms are nothing to do with the song, but I'll answer anyway:
    FREE TIBET!
    My sentence says it all.
Tibet must be a free nation because it's a pacific people.
Respect and long live to his holiness the Dalai Lama and Yungchen Lhamo.
    Long life to all Tibetans.

your comment ist absolutely justified. but: does the fact that the former feudal regime tortured the tibetans permit the chinese government to do the same now? imho it does not. tibetans are peaceful and they do earn everybodys respect. they have the rhe right to demand their own government. there´s no way back to former feudal structures, but the current heteronomy and genocide has to be stopped.
    peace

@02iva Lol. Dalai Lama is a politician he is having meetings with Obama, going to UN assemblies. You only made this youtube account to spread misinformation about Dalai Lama, calling me a liar. I don't claim to know everything and I would never intentionally lie. "Even if you madly insist to substain the contrary, your violent policy in Tibet is clear to all the world." wtf, are you talking to me? I have policy in Tibet. I'm in Croatia commenting on a youtube video. Nice little fake account

I first heard this on Nat Geo and I must say.. I fell in love with this RIGHT AWAY. I wish Nat Geo would play music from around the world again. Its always nice to experience entertainment from another cultures' perspective. We don't have ANYTHING like this here in the U.S ( atleast not in mainstream music). Which is SAD! This is so beautiful.

So, should Tibet remain locked in the past? Perhaps even the Tibet of one hundred years ago is 'too modern' for you... perhaps Tibet should really go back a thousand years to its 'authentic Tibetin' past...?
Fusion and melding are part of human experience; when two cultures are joined and the best influences of each annealed into the collective memory of the people, sometimes a stronger national character is annealed. Tibet should welcome modern instruments and ideas, yet retain its character

@dankcro I defend H.H. because he is my Guru. Like for a million of Tibetans. This is the only reason why I wrote. But, why you are here? If you are not chinese (and nobody can be sure about this...), I don't really understand why you are telling all these things against H.H. Maybe you are a pratictioner of NKT or WSS. If not, again I don't understand why you are saying those things. Maybe it's because compassion & wisdom are rare in this samsara. Tashi Delek.

  • @02iva
    @02iva 13 років тому

@dankcro You are not a Master. It isn't you that you have to tell people what teacher they have to follow. His Holiness has 7 milion of devoted followers only amongst Tibetans. I advice to you they are able to resist also to tortures rather then disclaim him. So try to convince everyone of them with this video...

amen! It is a great travesty how the world has ignored the Tibetan situation and turned a blind eye to the Chinese torture and repression in Tibet!
If there was oil in Tibet, maybe it would be a different story! How sad!!!! We need to inspire the free world to take action and free Tibet.

  • @02iva
