Summary(Important Notes) of The Stories of The Prophets- 13. The Story of Adam (Pt. 1) - The Meaning of 'Adam' The Term ‘Adam’:- The name ‘Adam’ occurs 25 times in the Qur’an which is quite a large number and in numerous authentic Hadiths. The first name in the Qur’an as we read it now is ‘Adam’(Surah Al-Baqarah. The Prophet(SAW) said, “Allah created Adam in his fashion.” The majority of our scholars believe that the name ‘Adam’ is of Arabic origin and so they say it should have a meaning that can be derived from the Arabic language. This is the opinion of great grammarians like Khaleel ibn Ahmed Al-Farahidi, Az-Zujaj, Ibn Al-Faris, and the scholars of Tafseer like Al-Baghawi and At-Tabari. However, they differed among themselves as to what the origin is and what the meaning is - 1. First Opinion: It comes from “أديم”(the outer layer/a leather skin). The reason is that Adam was created from the outer layer of the clay/upper layer of the dust/topsoil of the Earth. Some Hadiths mention this. However, it does not add up morphologically. 2. Second Opinion: It comes from “أأدم”(to join together). It is as if Adam(AS) was mixed up from different ingredients like water and clay, body and soul, rationality and emotions, etc. 3. Third Opinion: It comes from “أأدم”(same origin). But here, it means “wheatish/brownish color”, i.e, a shade of brown. So here Adam is called Adam because his skin was brownish in complexion and it was a mix of all of the human colors put together. A minority of scholars say that there is no derivation from Arabic for the term ‘Adam’ and that it is just a proper noun. They say it is a mistake to read the Arabic meaning of a name that predates the Arabic language. This is because Allah calls Adam(AS) by this name in Jannah and this same name is found in the Old Testament and the New Testament. Ibn Hajar says that this name has Syriac origins. At that time, Syriac was the standard Semitic language predating Hebrew. Some Hebrew linguists say that the word ‘Adam’ means the skin color which is a reddish or brownish mixture. Another group of Hebrew linguists says that it comes from the Hebrew term “ADAMA” which means “Earth” since Adam(AS) came from the Earth. With the utmost respect to the great scholars of the majority opinion, the opinion which makes the most sense is the minority opinion. Languages are not stagnant, they evolve. Forming a connection between ‘Adam’ and Arabic when the word ‘Adam’ existed before Arabic is not reasonable. There is not a shred of evidence to suggest this. Adam(AS) was created before Arabic was formed. Modern linguists acknowledge that there is one mother language from which every other language came but they don’t know how exactly it happened since they believe in evolution. The Process of Creation of Adam(AS):- The Qur’an mentions 5 terms for the original ingredients of Adam(AS) - 1. ماء (Water): The Qur’an, at multiple places, mentions that Allah created every creature from water - Surah Nur, Ayah 45; Surah Al-Ambiya, Ayah 30. 2. تراب (Dry Dust/Desert Sand): Allah mentions this ingredient 7 times. For example, Surah Al-Kahf; Surah Ar-Rum, Ayah 20; etc. 3. أرض (Earth/Top Soil in which seeds are planted): ِAllah mentions this twice in the Qur’an. For example, Surah An-Najm. 4. طين (Wet Clay/Used in Pottery): ِAllah uses this word in Surah Saad. In Surah Saffaat, Allah puts an adjective for “طين” which is “لازب”(sticky/malleable). 5. صلصال (Dry Clay): It is used multiple times in the Qur’an - Surah Al-Hijr(3 times) and Surah Ar-Rahman(1 time). In reality, there are two ingredients - water and sand. The 4 terms other than water are just different mixtures of water and sand. In تراب, there is no water. In أرض, there is just a little bit of water which is absorbed by sand. In طين, there is a lot of water and the sand is pasty. In صلصال, the water is dried out and the sand is hardened. Some Hadiths of the Prophet(SAW)- 1. The Prophet(SAW) said: “Allah created Adam from a handful that He took from the entire Earth. And so the children of Adam in accordance with the colors of the Earth. Some of them are red, some are white, some are black and some are in between. And also some are easy and some are difficult. And also some are filthy and some are pure and some are in between those two.” (Abu Dawood) 2. The Prophet(SAW) said: “Allah created Adam from the topsoil of the Earth. From all of it, it’s black and it’s red and it’s white. And it’s soft and it’s pure and it’s harsh and it’s arrogant. So you will find all of these characteristics in the children of Adam.” (Sunan Al-Bayhaqi) This ends the entire summary. @@imranamalik8216 See brother ! Allah ﷻ sent Qur'an to our Prophet Muhammad ﷺ who only understands Arabic. And arabic has only certain sounds, For example you can't say " shri " in arabic with it's proper sanskrit pronunciation. Like that the names of the prophets are of various languages so, you can't just pronounce them when your language doesn't have that sound. If you live in U.S you may have noticed that the asian often pronounce r & l interchangeably. It's not limiting him. It shows his mercy that he is not burdening those Arabs with new sounds. Which doesn't exist in their language. He is arabizing the names for their convenience. Just like the Christians have changed the names of every prophet for their convenience. Another example in my own language tamil there is no huu sound, so if we were to write the word nuh in tamil we sould write it as nuhk, do you get it ? It's not limiting Allah ﷻ, it's just the way languages work. Study more about languages you will have more understanding.
@@abdulsubahan5920 but my question stays there. Why not telling the real pronunciation, it's not the heavy point that bcz they use to speak Arabic that is why it's called Adam in this way otherwise in actual Adam is something else. I mean Allah knows the best but to me Allah is perfect He knows what the real pronunciation and name is and He told Prophet Muhammad s.a.w that this is how u pronounce. Allah never says what He don't mean. And I am not brother I am sister
@@imranamalik8216 even if Allah ﷻ revealed the true pronunciation of every Prophet's name, You can't write them in arabic script. For example : the Hebrew name of Jonah is Yonah, How will you write Yonah in arabic. Even if the Arabs knew the real pronunciation they can't write it, cause they don't have the letters for those sounds. So, the name was arabized as Yunus عليه السلام It's simple as that, I don't understand where does the limiting Allah ﷻ kind of stuff get in. Sister !

@@abdulsubahan5920 it then can lead to the bounding Allah that actual pronunciation is not what Allah told in Quran this then leads to the thought that He is bound or kind of weak that He can't tell actual.
@@imranamalik8216 See brother ! Allah ﷻ sent Qur'an to our Prophet Muhammad ﷺ who only understands Arabic.
And arabic has only certain sounds,
For example you can't say " shri " in arabic with it's proper sanskrit pronunciation.
So, the name was arabized as Yunus عليه السلام
It's simple as that, I don't understand where does the limiting Allah ﷻ kind of stuff get in.
Sister !
Next episode, what fruit was it that Adam and eve ate? 1 hour talk. Then next episode " how did Adam look like?" 1 hour talk. Then next episode " how many years old was Adam?" 1 hour talk....by this pace we wont even get to the story of adam by the next century
Adam is not an Arabic word .
Adam was made from water and clay .
Languages evolve .
This is what I got from this 52 min video
This sheikh certainly knows how to milk a point.
Dear brothers while Elon Musks and Bezos of the world are planning to colonize Mars, we Muslims are wasting 52 min of our time listening to this guy who just goes on and on so that he can make few extra bucks . With all due respect sheikh, this is all a bit too much ,
No offense, it just makes me mad to realize that you took 52 min to say 2 sentences.
They didnt even go to the moon, and now Mars??? Its all FAKE.

@@muhammadumer742 That's how intermediate level class is done. All opinions are discussed even weak opinions and he will dive deep in topic. if you don't want this there are other classes but you will never know what is authentic or not or where did the person got the knowledge from. And it is against the sunnah to question someone's intention and also I think he doesn't even get money from UA-cam becoz I've never seen an ad in this channel so what you're saying is not only against sunnah but nonsensical.
