During this period, he faced a daunting challenge when he was under threat from the underworld. Karan Johar flew off to London with his parents. He recounted talking to producer Aditya Chopra from a telephone booth, who advised him to return to Mumbai and purchase the most extravagant house, since 'Kuch Kuch Hota Hai' had become a massive blockbuster.
