Explanation
Takemikazuchi no Mikoto, the enshrined deity of Kashima Shrine in Hitachi Province (present-day Ibaraki Prefecture), surrenders after a fierce battle the great demon that has been wreaking havoc all over the world. The great demon who begged for his life was forgiven and ordered by Takachiho to live on rice instead of people in Takachiho.
Unusually for Iwami Kagura, the performance ends with the demon surrendering and being forgiven. The name of this performance was given to the idea of ``returning'' demons from the middle of the ``path'' without exterminating them. This performance features intense dialogue between the curtains and powerful sword movements.
