Man the way you talk about Higurashi and Umineko; with such passion, depth and insightful intellect, truly show how much I have yet to learn about their worlds. One day I hope to get around to finishing Umineko and most/all of the higurashi VNs. Still feel like such a surface dweller even after over a decade has passed since discovering the series.
Thanks for the kind words - I try my best! There's a wealth of incredible overlooked material in the WTC lore and I'm hoping videos like this help get them the exposure they deserve.
"but what about the world we leave behind rick?!" "what about the world where rika leaves the village and let everyone becomes monsters morty , you just dont think about it" There are discussions about a character saying that any kakera the isnt the one they choose has the same value as a dream or delusion so whatever happens there doesnt matter but the reality is ,the world keeps going even after rika dies so most of them have at least one survivor that has to live with the aftermath and the trauma until the day they die.
I read the Yoigoshi manga relatively recently after hearing about it from your release history/arc videos and really enjoyed it! Love to see that you've covered it a bit more in depth here
I went and read the manga arc today once I watched the beginning of this video and it was honestly really good! Some of the ending was a little cheesy for me but I'm really glad I read it. I never would've know of this without you since you're definitely my main exposure (for lack of a better term) to the when they cry series
Glad you enjoyed it and thanks for watching! The VN tones down a lot of the cheesiness - it adds a LOT more backstory and context that makes the struggles of all the characters feel considerably more authentic.
I reread the yoigoshi arc every now and then. I've only read the manga version though so the extra insight from the ds game is much appreciated. The higurashi manga is probably going to stay as one of my favorites for a long time.
I highly recommend the VN version for manga readers. There are tremendous additions to Towada and Otobe's backstories that make their journeys far more tragic. Miyuki is also a great addition to the overall dynamic.
@@WarudoChaos I've read the first two arcs of the original VN on steam. I hope theres a chance we'll be getting the side arcs like yoigoshi too. The VN has a different atmosphere but I've enjoyed them so far. I love your videos. They're fun to watch.
Thanks for watching! I have a video covering my thoughts pre-Sotsu and post-Gou that covers my thoughts on how Satoko has been handled so far. In short, I'm iffy, but optimistic. Sotsu so far has not made me shift my opinion. As for Sotsu in general, not enough of it has aired for me to form a fair opinion.
@@WarudoChaos I’ll give it a watch! Personally, I’m sad that Satoko became an antagonist but can see why she’d go down that path. I’m itching (hopefully not on my neck lol) for a redemption arc for her and Rika though.

There's an error in the time line of Yoigoshi-hen, this arc happens when Keiichi follows Chie to find Rena; so Keiichi wasn't one of the hostages and survived the explosion finding Mion's head in the ruins of the school
That arc not is Yoigoshi-hen, is an alternative arc of the visual novel but not is the same arc that in the manga and the principal line although have the same name.
Hello, I don't know if you will read this, but I hope so. I am starting to read Umineko after watching all the available animes of Higurashi no Naku Koro ni, unfortunately I have not read the manga or the sound novels. I'm really enjoying the beginning of the first episode, unfortunately I've already taken some spoilers of deaths and other things, but I don't really care, after all I didn't get any spoilers about the mysteries themselves ( I think, if I did I don't remember ). I don't know if I can call it "fear" or anxiety, but always when I'm going to read something big I'm afraid of forgetting to finish or not succeeding, or if I do I don't understand a lot of things ( Which has already happened, I was younger. ), This always leaves me with "one foot behind" to read something and bothers me a lot, because knowing that it's a wonderful universe not understanding it is a little frustrating, do you have any tips on how not to call this "anxiety"? I would really appreciate the help!
Just finish it regardless if you forget things along the way or don't understand everything, then use wikis to fill in the gaps. In the case of Umineko, you can read the manga after you finish the sound novel since the manga clarifies and gives concreate answers to A LOT of the stuff that the sound novel leaves ambiguous.
