Oh, I was delighted to watch this video! I used to own an old house (100 yrs) that had the ugliest bathroom. The original woodwork had multiple coats of paint, the walls were mustard yellow, and the floor had old cracked linoleum. I stripped all the woodwork, painted the claw foot tub, much like you did, and updated the tub fixtures much like you did. With the new fixtures I had to take off the original overflow piece. I kept it though. It says Powell Hardware - St. Cloud, MN. The house is in St. Cloud, MN. I almost teared up watching this video. Thank you so much for honoring your house and keeping it true to the vintage era.
You’’ve done it again! What a perfect room! Victorian houses in England used to always have, if the house was large enough, what they called “The boot room.” They used it much as you use yours, for arranging flowers from the garden, remove the muck of the outdoors, etc. of course, they probably would have given away one of their children to have the washer in there in Victorian times! I adore the sink unit! I’m loving everything you do to the house so far. I live in a tiny social housing flat, because of my disabilities, but live vicariously through your work.
I'd love a video on your laundry routine. Laundry is a beast in a larger family. I feel like we are always drowning in laundry. I'd love to hear if it's realistic to stay on top of it, and am curious about your tips and/or tricks.
I started teaching my children to do their own laundry when they were about 11. That brings its own issues about logistics of when each person washes their own laundry, but it helps a lot as well!
I grew up in a family of 10. We children were added to the chores roster at about age 5, with simple tasks. I remember we had to hang up/take down/fold/put away washing on a rotating roster...it never seemed like a big deal - just part and parcel of being a family, and learning valuable skills for future adulthood. I have five children under 8, who are responsible for putting their dirty clothes in the wash, and putting away their folded clothes (the older ones, anyway). My husband regularly helps with the washing - or any other household chore that needs doing - without being asked. I am very blessed...but I do cut some corners!! My favourite is to hang wet shirts straight onto hangers, so that I rarely need to iron them.
@@cynthiafisher9907 Yes, same here. Even with everyone helping, laundry always piles up. I guess it might just be the reality of a large family to always be drowning in laundry. I'd love to know Lisa's approach.
@@jaimemorgan5323 Hanging shirts up wet, hmmm🤔. There wasn't issues with mold and mildew that way? Currently 11 kids in our bunch, many involved in chores. Thanks for the input.
@@The_GreenBranch I keep a bunch of clothes hangers on my washing line, so that I can put the wet shirts on them and hook the hanger on the line with the rest of the washing. They air-dry like the rest, but without the wrinkles, usually. I find they take up very little room on the washing line on their hangers. Then I can bring them straight in on their hangers and transfer to cupboards. Anything that's still a little bit wrinkled, or that needs a bit more 'polish' (like clothing with pleats), I transfer to the laundry hanging rack for a quick press when I have time. Some families just don't fold the kids' clothes. A hamper for each room serves to sort dry clothes into, and those are taken to bedrooms and sorted into drawers by the children. Minimal clothing can also help. If you live rurally, though - or your kids do lots of grubby outdoor play or sports - there's not much you can do to reduce the overall volume, I guess!
It turned out great ! It is a part of your age of the home, which makes it fun. A bath tub is what every mothers needs for babies baths. You need a soap dish that hangs over the tub. Other wise there will be soap all the way down the wall. So pretty. You have a artistic mind. Thanks Joyce
The perfect transformation. Keeping the integrity of a home is the best way to do a renovation and this is a classic, timeless, beautiful bathroom. Love it. ❤️ for the little linen closet door, maybe make it a wavy glass door. It’ll add an element of texture, keep things slightly hidden, without being heavy.
I always thought it was a good idea to combine a bathroom and laundry room and you’ve made yours so serene! Thank you for showing us your creative ideas. 🥰
Love this makeover! I personally really like the cabinet area with out the door, so what if it’s a little messy. Y’all did a great job matching the trim and adding pieces to blend the look with the rest of the home! 💗
Lisa, I used a lot of beadboard in my home on my very first remodel; my husband and I did the rosettes and and fluted molding all over the house. I know shiplap is the thing but was so excited to see beadboard!!!! I adore the color of your pantry, as I collect lots of copper as well and thank you for sharing the color, which is stunning with copper. Last year, I remodeled my utility room, floor to ceiling beadboard as well as beadboard on the ceiling, along with an antique fixture. The Balance Beige is great. I painted mine Navigo White, Ben Moore, and the cabinets are done in black. I came so close to painting my cabinets in a teal very similar to yours. I kick myself for not going with the teal. Of coarse, the black is still nice with the chrome knobs, but not nearly as complimentary to copper. So, now I do think I will change it eventually. I also have a ball and claw foot tub in my Master Bath, with gorgeous black and white Carrera marble, very much representative of a vintage bathroom. It’s stunning. They are super easy to keep clean. I love that tub!!! I love your taste, as it’s so similar to mine. Although, I am a designer, I am an old soul, so my homes have always had the old moldings and are full of antiques. My clients are people who have either an eclectic taste or appreciate all things with a history to them. I certainly can create a “cookie cutter, Trendy” look but really shy away from those projects. Seriously, I WAS EO EXCITED TO SEE BEADBOARD! I also, have my great grandmothers old iron bed, that is now at least 150years old in the garage. I’m going to beadboard one of my guest rooms, and paint the iron bed with a fresh coat of black paint, and accent with all things colonial in that room. I am a huge fan and as always, the end product is STUNNING. You will very much enjoy your new downstairs master bedroom. Fantastic idea. Looking forward to more content on that project! CONGRATULATIONS on the upcoming arrival and God Bless You my dear. Sincerely, Lisa from Dallas
I have never been able to NOT GIVE my kids a bath every night. Life is dirty and I like to sleep CLEAN. I have heard this idea from many others who only do a full bath twice a week, many other large families. I can't do this. If you're in the bath tub why not clean every surface especially the areas that get most dirty and I'm not talking feet. So to each his own and whatever works for a family. Your channel and your work is beautiful. Baths must be my soapbox lol ❤️😆😉 completely loving Lisa and her beautifully designed home and life. Awesome cook and beautiful meals thank you!

Fabulous! Very Victorian as well as functional. The laundry room works seamlessly with the rest of the bathroom with the beadboard. I love the contrast color.
I live in an apartment, but it’s a building that was built in 1866 and has sat empty for quite some time before my landlord and his company purchased it and restored it. All of the electrical, plumbing, drywall, etc are brand new but luckily, they decided to keep the original fireplace and hardwood floors. Some of the windows are from the early 1900s. It’s been so nice sifting through vintage and consignment shops for decor to help the original features really shine.

Love the way the bathroom came out! We have a similar setup in our house and after a few years, I finally got a new washer & dryer. I got the front loading type and then my husband put a butcher block counter over it. I am so happy to have the folding space and tons of space for storage baskets. You do have to cut a hole for the hoses and electrical but it’s small and I just put a basket in front of it. You both did an awesome job on your bathroom!
Beautiful bathroom! You all did a great job. My husband did our kitchen sink in Ekopel 2K Bathtub Refinishing Kit. This stuff is amazing. I was really nervous because Paige at FV said not to do it. I already had the product and paid $150 for it. My husband was going to do it. Well, it turned out beautifully. Very happy we did it. My husband did research how to do it well before he attempted it. He was nervous too. He’s happy with it and he has been doing home improvements and worked in the field for years.
Lisa looks gorgeous!!! If you want to hide the laundry area and nook contents, I’ve used tension rods and a pretty shower curtain, sheet or fabric. Thanks for sharing these! 💚
Absolutely beautiful! I have some shelves behind by washer/dryer. I put a rod close to the ceiling and hung pretty curtains to cover my ugly "stuff". The curtains come about a foot above the machines.

Love the color you chose!
Lisa looks gorgeous!!! If you want to hide the laundry area and nook contents, I’ve used tension rods and a pretty shower curtain, sheet or fabric. Thanks for sharing these! 💚
Love your bathroom, it is gorgeous. The color of the tub is so pretty.
So so beautiful!!! You did not let us down with this reveal!!
ABSOLUTELY stunning!
Such a good call painting the bottom the same color. I love the way you think through things to keep the original character. It looks beautifl
Thank you so much!
Absolutely beautiful! I have some shelves behind by washer/dryer. I put a rod close to the ceiling and hung pretty curtains to cover my ugly "stuff". The curtains come about a foot above the machines.
It turned out absolutely lovely! Good work!! ❤️
So gorgeous. I literally love everything Lisa does! 👏
