There have been so MANY SpongeBob SquarePants video games in this franchise’s life. Not many people have the unfortunate distinction of playing most of them, so, hot off the heels of The Cosmic Shake, let’s rank all of them!

@@404Errored he needs money, no matter how much.
Wow someone else actually played obstacle Odyssey, loved those as a kid
You're not the only one Nathaniel. Outside of Battle For Bikini Bottom, Lights Camera Pants, Revenge of the Flying Dutchman, Creature from the Krusty Krab, Operation: Krabby Patty, Employee of the Month and The SpongeBob SquarePants Movie Game since I had those at the time(BFBB is the only one that I decided to get again since the 2020 theft of my 1st PS2, Wii, and my hard-bought games), I played Obstacle Odyssey, Diner Dash, Monopoly: SpongeBob Edition, Pizza Toss, Krabby Quest, The SpongeBob Movie 3D Online Game, and Trail of the Snail. (I'm only counting the early to mid 2000s SpongeBob online games) (It was in 2006) In fact, I played every single SpongeBob game that I had. Again I have Battle For Bikini Bottom.
Ain't u Nathaniel B?
I liked that game but it was hard for me when i was small
Same here! Really loved that game
I wasn’t sure if I dreamt that game’s existence until this video
I like how Antdude has kind of become the "Spongebob video game guy"
The irony is, Spongebob's best friend is a pink starfish named Patrick Star...
And Kirby, also heavily linked to Antdude, is also pink... and a Star Warrior...
It's fate, I tell ya.
It is his right and privilege
The Romhacks guy, the Kirby guy AND the SpongeBob games guy.
I wonder what weirdly specific UA-camr gamer titles he'll scoop up next!
Don't type cast him.
He'll try a risky rebrand and become the gritty 3D shooter game guy for a bit.
Its like caddy is the cash banooka video game guy
Cosmic Shake has so much of the DNA of previous SpongeBob games in it, beyond just the Movie game and BFBB. You have elements from Truth or Square and ROTFD, LCP, and KFTKK. It’s wild just how much it is a love letter to the old games
Does ROFTD stand 4 'Revenge of the Flying Dutchman'? Because if so, it should be ROTFD with the F and T swapped around.
@@themascotwizard5267 no, the game is obviously called revenge of flying the dutchman 🙄🙄🙄
@@themascotwizard5267 D’OH! At least I got most of them accurate
I'm sorry, kreature from the krusty krab, don't you mean breature from the krusty carb.
Haven’t played it yet but is there anything specific it pulls from kftkk?
After playing through so many of the games, it’s nice to hear finally Ant’s two cents about how they stack up.
Of course, he probably lost his soul when doing so, so it’s more like his sixty-two cents.
I see the clever 62¢ reference you did there
Do you think he could've gotten more?
He makes money to play games it ain't that hard to be honest lol
@@jameslawrenson1208 Not if he sold us out first.
lol
_Battle for Bikini Bottom will always be my favorite, but I can't deny that _Cosmic Shake_ is more than a worthy successor. Glitches that may or may not get patched out aside, It's vibrant, beautiful worlds with so much to do in them, it perfectly blends elements from the classic and modern eras of the show, and best of all, Mr. Krabs actually sounds like Mr. Krabs! I'm glad AntDude loved it, and I'll be enjoying both _Cosmic Shake_ and _BFBB_ for years to come.
I agree, I was really surprised that Cosmic Shake was this good, but now, it's currently my favorite game of 2023.
@@waterbullstudios9195 Same here.
Agreed; the most obvious one for me is SpongeBob in the end cutscene of the Renaissance world.😊
Battle for Bikini Bottom is my favorite too.
Cosmic Shake isn't even a successor, it's just a game that uses the same gameplay elements as Rehydrated/OG, the game is definitely good, but it's really not a spiritual successor
What I loved about Lights Camera Pants on console was how after you finish a round, you get to see the finished "movie" with all the characters playing the roles for the minigame batches they won. Gave the game some replay value that a lot of minigame collections are lacking. Each scene is different depending on who has the acting role and, from what I remember, all of them are gems (or at least much better than expected).

A real one
Yellow Avenger is underrated as hell. For the time, the exploration and aesthetics were super immersive, it was able to give off the same feeling of immersion that some of the better PC entries (like Employee of the Month) had. I felt like that was pretty ambitious for a 2.5 sidescroller on handheld hardware. The OST is also pretty great.
I never would have in my life ever expected anyone to rank every single Spongebob game out there. Even less so, I never would’ve expected one to actually be this good and accurate. Can’t thank you enough for making this Antdude! You really are so coral. Rock on freaky bro!

ROCK ON FREAKY BRO
My favorite SpongeBob games are battle for bikini bottom, creature from the Krusty krab, and lights camera pants. Those were the 3 I played all the time as a kid and I love them all so much. Fortunately my GameCube still works and I still play them
I was surprised to found out so many people hate creature from the krusty krab. I'm currently replaying it since it was also one of my favorites when I was a kid, I think it still holds up. only downside is that I'm playing it on the Wii so the controls are iffy.
Hoiminoi
I think the only spongebob game I ever played was that DS beach party cookoff one, but I was surprisingly in love with that game as a kid.
TBH I loved PS1 Supersponge as a kid and still have a big soft spot for it to this day
I remember playing that. It was kinda fun for me too.
Same here! It was quite fun
Creature from the Krusty Krab console version is my favourite spongebob that I've played. Something about the crazy tone, the crazy overlapping story the crazy level deigns all just clicks with me. This is just a crazy game and I love it for that.
I genuinely think this game was what gave me my love for horror into adulthood
The anticipation of getting to Drawn to Life SpongeBob SquarePants Edition was quite a moment for me, but once it was next in line. I got really excited… and yes, it’s because I’m a big fan of the Drawn to Life franchise
I am genuinely stoked that the console Lights, Camera, Pants! made it into the top ten. I have a lot of nostalgia for the game, and I will fight that it is very solid and very fun.
Yes! Deserves the rehydrated treatment
You have no idea how happy I get from seeing Atlantis squarepantis for DS in the top 5. That game was literally my childhood, and I had so much fun once I finally figured out how to actually play the minigames. I also was happy that when I started my second playthrough, suddenly I had squidward despite not having him for the entire first playthrough. My child brain couldn’t understand completion bonuses at the time.
The things he'll go through for content, respect the grind
LS Mark would like to have a word with you.
Loved the spongebob movie game as a kid, and still love it to this day. As weird as Creature from The Krusty Krab is, I really do love it. The music in the game is so unexpectedly jamming, especially the Alaskan Bullworm sections!
Loved the video as always, Antdude!
Super Sponge has one of the best level themes in Lava fields and I loved the game based on the first movie. The first movie game really reminded me of Super Mario Sunshine with all the bonus levels. It was lots of fun.
Ok

AntDude, you have no idea how much I love you, I have been searching for this game for years. I used to play it all the time as a kid and I could never find it. Thank you

1: Cosmic Shake
Great video and I respect the grind since I've been playing through all the games myself and sometimes it's really too much.
I definitely think Cosmic Shake is an improvement to BFBB. I think everyone kinda has their rose tinted glasses on that prevents them from admitting that Cosmic Shake is obviously better in almost every single regard, even though BFBB is still amazing. But still, Spongebob’s move set is super expansive and really fun, the visuals are gorgeous, the music is amazing, there’s an actual story, inclusion of more characters, it’s just a romping good time!
I actually went through the grind to not only do the first ever full longplay of Surf and Skate Roadtrip on Xbox 360 Kinect, but also the first to 100% it on UA-cam. Definitely deserved its spot near the bottom of the list. It was exhaustingly repetitive and the kinect controls definitely screwed me many times on those gate levels. Twisted my knee a but while playing it as well, but after a lot of icing and grinding the levels I pulled off the 100%. Great ranking list overall Anthony.
I was legitimately unaware there were this many SpongeBob games. I know of the obvious ones like Battle for Bikini Bottom, but holy mackerel there are a lot of games based around this I.P. And with Cosmic Shake coming out, the games are becoming like the show: never ending. 😂
Edit: Also, I had to do some research into this because I never actually knew the details. Clancy Brown (Mr. Krabs' voice actor) did not provide his voice to the character in Battle for Bikini Bottom due to scheduling conflicts at the time. Clancy Brown was voicing the notorious villain Baron Praxis in Jak & Daxter 2, so a different VA had to be chosen. Enter one Joe Whyte, who provided the now somewhat infamous yet fan loved new voice role for Mr. Krabs in Battle for Bikini Bottom.
After the Rehydrated remake was announced, fans actually provided heavy feedback to the developer -- THQ Nordiq -- to keep the voice unchanged, even with Clancy being available. The dev team responded in kind, and so Joe Whyte reprised his role in the Rehydrated version, much to fan appreciation.
Even with Joe giving Mr. Krabs such a different yet iconic voice, Cosmic Shake goes back to the man we all know and love as the character, which is why he sounds so familiar. 😉
Thank you for providing this detail cuz holy crap!
As someone whos SpongeBob game was truth or square for the ds I see this as an absolute win.
Fun Fact: Spongebob SquarePants Employee of the Month & the Original Battle for Bikini Bottom on PC was what introduced me to Spongebob in the first place. Good times, good times!
I just wanted to say my nostalgia goggles burst at those PC point and click games. I absolutely loved them growing up and still have some of the dialogue stuck in my frontal lobe. Seeing them get a shout-out warms the cockles of my cynical old heart. Thanks, Antm'n.
Anyone wanna dance?
@@mr.goodboi2780 Are you insane?!
It is genuinely so nice to see Supersponge GBA get it's dues here! It was actually the first real video game I ever owned, for the first ever system I ever owned, and I loved this game as a kid! Even as I got newer and better ones, something about Supersponge always made it a fond memory. Probably mostly nostalgia, but the game itself is still genuinely decent beyond that.
So I guess that means there are now 2 people who would praise Supersponge GBA this much.
So... anyone else notice he called Mystery "Destiny"?
24:08
*confused wee snaw*
I never thought I'd see anyone ever mention Krabby Quest ever again. God, I loved that game as a child, I basically lived off of niche PC games that I don't think anyone else has ever heard of from Big Fish Games and that was one of them.
I’d like to thank WildTangent and Windows Vista for introducing me to all those endless games of varying quality
Cosmic Shake had me smiling the entire way through. What an amazing, incredible game.
I'm genuinely surprised that the DS version of Atlantis Squarepantis is so unique and actually good. It's the only version of it I played as a kid and I'm so glad my nostalgia is actually warranted for once
Heck yeah the last two DS games being 4 and 5 are so worth it.
Truth or Square actually had GOOD usage of the touch screen too, with different, quick motions allowing you to use SpongeBob’s three different moves, particularly the gum shot in any direction you want, not just aimed at the nearest enemy or in one of eight directions.
I played Battle for Bikini Bottom and the Cosmic Shake both within the past couple months and I thought the Cosmic Shake was not only quite a bit better, but a for real genuinely excellent 3D platformer, no caveats.
Anyone notice how in the BFBB GBA section he calls Mystery “Destiny”? Guess that’s the new version of “Maleficent from Cinderella”.
I noticed
Yeah i noticed that too
The love and effort that Purple Lamp studios put into Cosmic Shake far outweighs the glitches and occasional bugged line delivery for me. Modern games are constantly getting patched so I don't see it as a major strike against the game, and I still was able to complete it 100 percent despite those bugs. I'm actually hoping that they stick to their guns and make more SB platformers like they said they want to, the quality can really only go up from here.
Also sidenote: Employee of the Month (as well as the other PAC SB games) hold a special place in my heart, that was the first PC game I ever played ❤️
I've played a fair amount of the SB games (even Altron's SB DS trilogy of Atlantis SquarePantis/Drawn to Life/Truth or Square, those are kinda overlooked tbh). And I'll admit I even like SuperSponge a fair amount. Though the one SB game I've had the most experience with was BFBB Rehydrated, mainly because I modded it a lot (it was the first Unreal-based game I modded)
I literally just finished rewatching AntDude's whole Spongebob retrospective before this. Talk about perfect timing! xD
So I actually played the older point and click and adventure game Employee of the month on PC, alot. I specifically have the phrase "Sublime Seafood, Taste like Chicken" stuck in my head since I was like 6.
I truly feel like the "SpongeBob The Movie" on console was the best. The mini games were challenging and soooo fun. The levels felt like I was in the movie. I always felt like battle for bikini bottom never felt as complete as this game felt. I felt like the spongebob movie game added to all that was great about the other game
BFBB lacks the upgrade feature and mini games which makes the the movie game feels better
Creature of the Krusty Krab is the only game I grew up with, is so nostalgic remembering it, except for the fact it was in English at a time I didn't know any English, Patrick taking too long despite being too fun, how I couldn't beat it because the final race made no sense, and how annoyed I was as a kid for not being able to play as Sandy.
On the topic of SpongeBob games on PC I will say the one that stands out for me is Atlantis Squareoff.
It's a Fire Emblem styled strategy game and as crazy as that sounds it was actually pretty good. It technically centers around cards but it doesn't play like a card game. The cards are more just like set dressing for earning more powerful moves/abilities.
This. I absolutely adored this game and wish it was on the list. It was shockingly good and really interesting.
Yellow Avenger was always one of my favorites as a kid. The backtracking can get a bit tiresome, but I just loved exploring the world and still making progress at your own pace. If nothing else, the soundtrack fuckin SLAPS
Me too! I had it growing up and I honestly really enjoyed it.
I wish The Spongebob Movie game had a remake, it was my favorite game for so many years
*Bro I grew up with Return of the Flying Dutchman!*
I remember seeing a game trailer of it on a SpongeBob DVD and begged my parents for it. I played it everyday when I got home from school, the only thing I truly hated about the game was that it took forever for an area to load (took around maybe 1 or 2 minutes). I had trouble trying to complete it so everytime I got stuck I would restart and play it all over again, eventually I beat it and then finally stopped playing it.
Had my sister not given my PS2 as well as my games away I probably would've given it another go.
Cool list, Supersponge on the GBA is a soft spot for me. It was my first ever GBA game and I loved it so much! Sadly the game got stolen by some random kid on the airport. I miss that game (I know I can get a new / used one, but that particular cartridge was special to me).
Superspong was my first GBA game as well! I’m still surprised how good it is… I think it should’ve been higher
"Whatever doesn't kill you, may do so on the second attempt."
Of course I started violently choking when I went back 10 seconds to hear that again...
You sir, are a legend for this!
Haven't played a lot of SpongeBob games, but as a lifelong fan of BFBB, I honestly never thought there'd be a SpongeBob game that could ever outshine it! But Cosmic Shake (which I also received early) knocked the Sponge clear out of the water for me! It's a great PS2 era platformer that evolves what was established in BFBB, and I was pleasantly surprised at every turn!
Granted, it's got a couple, tiny issues here & there that can be patched or improved in a sequel. But otherwise, Purple Lamp did the impossible here! And I can't wait to see what else they've got in store!
I LOVE Employee of the Month. So many good memories from such a simple point and click game.
Cosmic Shake is Pretty Good, but Battle of Bikini Bottom Still a Spongeful Masterpiece forever.
And only the original
@@barofsoap3795ok buddy get the rose tinted glasses off
@@AJotasticGamer the remake is rushed trash. acting like it isn't would be wearing nostalgia goggles because the only reason people excused its flaws is because it's riding the wave of the original game
Man the nostalgia in this really punched me in the face. Those point and click games were my childhood. And Lights Camera Pants man me and my friends still play that. And were 20.
Can't play as Scooter, 0/10 won't play ever
Those Spongebob PC games like Employee of the Month and the Movie (which I also owned on PS2) were my childhood I played them so much, and then Creature from the Krusty Krab took the spot as my favorite
Wow Ant I'm surprised that you knew about Disney Universe, I've got mega nostalgia for it 😄
15:26 Krusty Cook Off is actually very similar in gameplay to a Flash/HTML5 game called "Spongebob, You're fired!". You just make different variations of a certain food depending on what the customerks ask and between every round, spongebob gets fired and needs to find a new job, making something different everytime. It's not totally the same, but if you ever played it, you can see the similarities.
The seahorse’s name is Mystery, but maybe it should have been named Destiny… or Debbie.
I just need to say this, even if it doesn't concern Spongebob: The same people who made Battle For Bikini Bottom, THQ and Heavy Iron Studios, also made a 3D platformer/metroidvania for Scooby Doo called Night of a Hundred Frights and I love it. I know you're more into Spongebob but I would love to see you go through the ton of Scooby Doo games out there just like you did with Spongebo. And Night of a Hundred Frights would be a perfect starting place. Gotta love PS2 era platformers.
I stand by my opinion that SuperSponge has one of the best OST's in gaming
I also genuinely think that Sakurai should look into referencing licensed games if he wanted to break the video game characters only rule. Mainly because I want more people to experience the SuperSponge OST which could use some remixes.
I agree! I absolutely love the soundtrack of that game
Until you got to the final 5, I was confused about why Atlantis Squarepantis and Truth or Square DS hadn't shown up, but it makes me genuinely happy to see them so high since I had played them growing up (though I never finished them because I was too young and stupid to understand how to beat certain sections).
Thank you for your sacrifice. I appreciate you subjecting yourself to so much torture. I had forgotten so many of these games existed, then your video reminded me why I had placed them out of my collective memory.
24:08 you also got *destiny* the sea horse
*what*
I played Krabby Quest and Obsticle Oddyssey as a kid SO MUCH. I used to go to my Grandmas little apartment and stay the night, playing on her computer with the few games I could find that had to do with Spongebob, like those ones. She passed away earlier this year, God rest her soul. Bad games, maybe, but lots of nostalgia. Thanks for bringing those to light
Anthony, the Spongebob flash games were actually S tier on average. One of them was a Pokemon Snap clone based on a series of special episodes and it took a good few hours to get through and it featured secret paths and an upgrade system.
Yup, like a lot of Flash AND Dreamweaver games (remember that plugin?) are pretty iconic IMO, with very quick gameplay, and some even going 3D - Sponge Shuffleboard and the Caveman Bowling game are nostalgic to me.
Before I watch this video I’ll say that my two favourite SpongeBob games were absolutely “curse of the Flying Dutchman” and the game for the SpongeBob movie. I never played “battle for bikini bottom” until the remake came out and I know my two favourites aren’t everyone’s pick, but I have a lot of fun memories with them.
I always loved the downtown setting in “COTFD”!
Rough as SuperSponge on the PS1 was, the music was certainly top tier, and I'm glad it was getting a lot of love in this video, with Sandy's Treehouse playing before the sponsor segment and Jelly Fields in the half-way point
And of course there was its music when it came to talking about the PS1 and GBA versions, but I'm extra happy that Cavernous Canyons was the one picked for the PS1 version's bit, because that song gives me a major dopamine hit every time it pops into my head
Almost makes me wish that the Big Wheel/Tunnel of Love theme was played for the sponsor bit, as that's always felt like a nice theme for shopping, but at the same time I think Redial is always the theme for Ant's sponsor bits, so eh, it is what it is 乁(ツ)ㄏ
The music for SuperSponge is incredble for sure. The GBA may have a worse sound chip, but it's crazy how good it is as well
Employee Of the Month and the GBA version of super sponge were such a huge part of my childhood.
Sir, its MYSTERY the seahorse. Not destiny.
YES!! Drawn to Life was my favorite DS game when I was younger, I adored it! Same with SpongeBob SquarePants Movie game for the GBA, adored them both as a kid. Super glad to see others talk about them
Mahoi nanoi
Oh I’m SO glad you went over BFBB Gameboy and Drawn to Life. I spent COUNTLESS hours with those games as a kid and I was worried they wouldn’t even show up on this list, much less be so high up on it. I’m VINDICATED
5:20 the gunstringer, it's the one kinect game that's actually really fun and interesting
Good video. Spongebob, both the show and games, played such a big role in my life. It was THE show I watched as a kid. Watching this made all the memories come flooding back. Thank you for the upload!
Purple Lamp is really coming into its own. They started with a damn good remake of a classic, and then improved on that in just about every way. I'm certain they're not going away anytime soon. Their next game could definitely give Nintendo a run for their money if they keep improving at this rate
18:57 so it WASN’T just a dream I had once! I knew I remember seeing videos of this game once.
As someone who never even knew the cosmic shake existed, I'm very excited by this. Finally feel like there's something to go back to
Some of the levels on Creature from the Krusty Krab were genuinely really difficult.
Avoiding those trains as Hero Patrick took me forever.
20:06 I can relate. I was playing the PS2 Version when the loading glitch happened. It happened 19 years ago and I have not played it since. RIP Revenge of the Flying Dutchman PS2 Copy. 2002-2004. My copy didn't live this long.
Employee of the Month is probably my favorite, big sucker for early 2000s point and click games. That one and the Bionicle Mata Nui Online Game hold a lot of good childhood memories
Atlantis SquarePantis DS was my childhood, I played that over and over bro. I've been trying to remember what it was called when your video came up, thanks so much 😭💛
this video almost made me tear up, this is so nostalgic
In creature for the krusty Krab’s defense, it was probably supposed to feel like a fever dream because the game’s entire story was that it WAS a fever dream.
24:08 - ah yes, DESTINY the Seahorse - and my I introduce you to the new multiplayer shooter MYSTERY??? xD
9:58 imagine you’re playing some big open world 3D action game. You get to a computer terminal, log in for the inevitable hacking minigame, and said hacking minigame is a level of Krabby Quest. The game never has had anything to do with SpongeBob before this moment and he only shows up in the hacking minigames because they’re levels of Krabby Quest…. That would be hilarious.
I'm not gonna lie, Creature From The Krusty Krab is in my top 3 favorite Spongebob games ever.
There is so much personality, style, and love put into the game, and the gameplay is just pure fun. I love the ethereal dream-like quality, and vibe the game has, which fits because everything is in a dream. Lol
I could gush about this game for too long so I'm gonna cut this comment short here.
Thank you for bringing up the Didj! That was actually my first video game platform, and I played that thing so much!
Boating Bash is probably my favorite Spongebob game, I remember being around 11 and seeing it in the Walmart bargin bin and convincing my dad to let me get it because it was around 10-20 bucks and I ended up loving the game, definitely an underrated Spongebob game
I never thought I’d see the SB games ranked, but man am I glad you did!
The fact that the Epic Mickey remake is being done by Purple Lamp who did Rehydrated and then Cosmic Skake gives me lots of confidence. They're growing and improving.
Drawn to Life was the Spongebob game I've played the most in my life. Honestly a really fun game - little charm, but it's captivating, silly, fun, and even the soundtrack is a bop.
I have to admit, I was surprised to see Cosmic Shake as number 1, I mean I have seen A LOT of people say things like "This game still has problems unlike this game from the past," or "This game doesn't capture the spirit of the series like this one" or whatever, but I am honestly glad that Cosmic Shake didn't fall into that category.
I remember playing Atlantis squarepantis on my ds when I was younger and it was a blast, I’m glad you’re just as fond of the game as I am
i kinda love yellow avenger for the ds. such a nostalgic ds shovelware game xD (love the soundtrack and the weird 2D/3D worlddesign)
Obstacle Odyssey unlocked a memory, holy jesus I had one of those as kid and I completely forgot about it, I remember playing it on my moms laptop, I don't think I was very good at them though...
when you said fists of foam i was shocked. it wasn’t a bad side scroller game but very mysterious game for a very mysterious handheld console. i think i still have my didj
18:58 OH MY GOD is that a reskin of the 2002 game "Best Friends"???. Damnnn it hit me in the nostalgia feels hard I didn't know there was a SpongeBob version I used to play that game all the time as a kid wow
Hey if you think about it the SpongeBob games have a lot in common with crash bandicoot. We got some 3 really good games for each being Battle for Bikini Bottom, the movie game than Antlantis Squarepantis DS and after a decade and a half we got a fantastic remake followed by a great original sequel.
As a kid, I absolutely loved the spongebob flash games, pc games, and the jakkspacific plug and play. I probably played any one of them individually more than I played BFBB. I also always prefered the movie game to BFBB too. Still, BFBB is amazing and still a game I enjoy today. Glad to see with the cosmic shake they're still doing *some* good things with the IP.
My biggest problem with cosmic shake aside from inferior bosses to BFBB is that you dont just get new moves but also NPC sidequests as you do the main story so unless you wanna go back into the levels multiple times to 100% them you have to finish the game first then replay the whole game again anyway to do the side quests. Oh and if you accidentally go into a boss fight when replaying a level the game doesnt let you exit the damn level or pick a new mission you HAVE to finish the boss fight.
