Mixxx is a very powerful piece of software, this video barely scratches the surface of what its capable of in the right hands.

because this programme wasn't directly about mixxx, but rather an overview of how the sound system works/behaves and flowgraph design.

The lack of preparation for this presentation shows. When there are only 30 min. available, time is of the essence. The setup needs to be thoroughly tested beforehand.
While timecode vinyl is cool tech to make vinyl DJs feel more at home in the digital world, it's just a too complicated system to setup and debug quickly. Instead of two turntables, a mixer and an external audio interface, I recommend just using a single DJ controller with a built-in audio interface. Something like a DDJ-400 would work. Way faster setup and less points of failure. It would also help to show the features of modern DJ software and explain MIDI functions. Btw, those entry level DJ controllers cost way less than the turntable setup. They lower the barrier to the DJ hobby to just a few hundred bucks.
DAWs have a lot of interesting features. Why not showing any of them? The LMMS window did not show anything interesting.

there was 50 minutes allotted. the setup was tested thoroughly but moving stuff around when your audio interfaces are not guaranteed to enumerate in the same way and have no good way of querying their uniqueness was unavoidable. this also wasn't strictly a rigid talk.
as mentioned in another comment, the point of this programme wasn't about showing every little detail of the programs themselves, but rather a technical overview of how the operating system's sound stack works/behaves and flowgraph design. please consider who the audience was.
you are more than welcome to make your own programme featuring your recommended setup consisting of a controller. but with me, i use vinyl and thus demo vinyl, because despite the higher barrier to entry, i think it is the right way to learn.
