  • Brand new 72' crank up tower, Tashjian Towers DX70. Soon to be vertical with a SteppIR DB36 for 75m to 6m on a 36' boom and a Diamond X300NA for 2m/70cm on top. Getting impatient so wanted to play with it and make a video of my progress so far.

Good move adding the extra rio bars for sure...no brainer looking at it the way it is.

I’ve been driving past your place for a while, I noticed when your tower went up, it’s a well thought out set up.

The rod into the base is not recommended. It there is a lightning strike the base could crack.

I agree its probably better not to run the conductor through the concrete, however, many will argue this point with some good reasoning. In my case, the conductor will be pressed into the dirt wall along side the concrete pour. The rod will be center front of the hole against the wall.

Did you use the Tashjian rotor plate? I’m concerned it doesn’t bolt in, it just lays in there

Yes, and its a design that has been proven for 50 years or more. The weight of the mast, rotor and antenna are not going to lift up, and the plate has tabs that wedge in to the bracing preventing it from moving. Its fine.
