    Just purchased this followed instructions to the letter and it works fantastic after years of multimeter and voltage testers had 4 bad bulbs on 2 C6 sets and fixed them in a half hour. Great video great product, highly, highly recommend.

    Can you use this for outdoor lights? If it pierces the insulating plastic wont that cause the wires to rust?

    • @ronmuzzi3597
      @ronmuzzi3597 11 місяців тому

      The plastic insulation almost completely closes after it's punctured. Even if you did get some corrosion it wouldn't keep the set from working.

    I've had a couple of problems not addressed here.
    1) I had a failure at one socket that had one wire in and two wires out, so I wasn't sure how to address that.
    2) I've had, on more than one occasion a section of lights that just get dim but still light.
    3) She addressed this but it seems that there are several different types of socket bases and what you need you often won't have on hand.

      I totally agree!
      I have the Noma C9 lights, which are supposed to last a long time. However, half the strand won’t light in one of my strands, & this is my 2nd season using them. They have 2 wires out & one wire going into the bulbs.
      Even in her video, she shows a bulb with 2 wires going in the bulb & one wire out. But in the next part, she shows 1 wire going into the bulb & never addresses the wire not going into the bulb. 🤦🏻‍♀️

    It took a couple of tries to insert the wire properly into the slot, but I got it working and it found the bad bulb. The light remover was also a little tricky. The key is to make sure the light remover metal slot is in between the gap on the light bulb. This video glosses over removing the light bulb.

    OH BTW. Your Light Keeper Pro is an ingenious product. I was very impressed with it when I saw it. Very creative use of piezo technology. Love the way you consolidated all the other features into a single handheld device.

    When I pull the trigger, with or without a wire being tested, a red light illuminates near the bulb tester. Significance? Does that mean the 9V battery inside is low or is something defective? I just bought this days ago.

    • @LightKeeperProTool
      @LightKeeperProTool 3 роки тому +1

      The red light means the battery is good to go and ready to get to work.

    My unit is no longer working. It illuminates nothing. The 9V battery is good, the bulb tester socket still works. But the tester won't light when testing a string - I tried it on a known good string of bulbs. I can see the pin piercing the wire. Any ideas? It worked last year.

    I tried it on an outdoor set and the pin piercer gave out after just one string. I flipped the pin and that too only lasted for one string. It did ID the faulty bulb, and I used the enclosed pod to seal the defective bulb I removed, and it worked, but the tool is now useless unless I buy replacement pins. No thanks.

      The colour code on the resistor is orange-orange-brown gold. This would make the resistor 330 ohms with a 5 percent tolerance.

    Check to see if you can find replacement LED lights. I found burnt bulbs . But can't find replacements. You can not just use any LED. Each string is bulb specific.

      Better late than never. But always start on the bottom light of each section. If all the lights on that line light up. Move down further. After that its process of elimination. But starting at the bottom of each line is the fastest way .

    Safety is you main concern??? LMFAO. That is why you intentionally turn the insulation into a Swiss cheese thus breaching the integrity of the insulation on a 120 volt mains powered device. Good luck with your future lawsuits.

    • @LightKeeperProTool
      @LightKeeperProTool 7 років тому +4

      The LED Keeper has been on the market since 2012 and we can assure you it is safe. We would not have a tool out on the market that could pose any danger. The insulation has a healing method to its makings considering the material expands and if you consider the minuscule hole the LED Keeper leaves behind, there is no concern. Luckily, with the LED Keeper, you can tap into the wire with ease, avoiding continuous/repeated piercings which would result in the swiss cheese analogy you have used above. We would be happy to speak with you further if you have any additional concerns as we are here and happy to help! If email works best for you, we can be reached at inform@ultalit.com. Thank you and happy holidays!

      Considering how cheaply miniature Christmas incandescent and LED light sets are made they are inherently unsafe. The pin holes made by your test tool is insignificant compared to the other crevices inherent in the manufacturing techniques use to make the lights. These deficiencies are far more likely to allow moisture and electricity to sneak in and out respectively. If they were built to strict electrical code requirements they would not be affordable. Merry Christmas to you also.

      You might be able to "paint" the pierce with some of that "liquid electrical tape", I forget at the moment what it's actually called, but it's in a little container about the size of cans used for plastic pipe primer and solvent (it's not plumbing chemicals, just similar sized container).
