These two kids could greatly profit by collecting all these golf balls from the ocean, and re-sell them. They clean the ocean...and make lots of money. Win win solution.

Most big/popular golf courses have contracted professional divers who are exclusively allowed to collect the balls from the lakes and streams on that course. These guys apparently don’t have to pay for the balls so it’s all profit if they re-sell them. But, Yeh they prolly don’t need the money.

You guys should set up a ball refinishing shop in that garage and sell them. Just advertise “1$ per sleeve goes to clean up our ocean” make it a brand, people out there will love it, print a tiny logo of george costanza pulling a golf ball out of a whales blow hole. start a business, money doesn’t grow on tree it rolls around on the bottom of the ocean. 2 birds with one stone, clean it up, cash it in!

As an avid golfer, I always knew I was participating in something that wasn't always the most concious of taking care of our planet - it's no secret.
From the bottom of my heart, thank you both for taking the initiative and keep us old privileged folks in check.
The burden is unfortunately on your generation now to clean up the mess we made for you. We need more leaders like you to give us a chance.
This is beyond inspiring. Thank you once again.
Truly hope Pebble and other ocean courses around the globe take this problem seriously and most importantly, take REAL action + responsibility.

Yes, it is sickening, but many, many thanks to Alex and her friends who have brought this issue into the public sphere, and brought it to the attention of the overseers of the golf course. It's disturbing to reflect on how long this has been going on with no one even aware of the consequences to marine life. I'm sure that none of the golfers on this course did deliberate harm. They just weren't thinking. Too often, we go about our daily lives without considering our impact on the environment. Kudos again to Alex and friends!!

This makes me feel really good but at the same time really bad. Carmel beach in my favorite place in the world, as a kid I would spend entire days playing in the sand and the ocean, as well as playing golf. I never even knew the impact golf had in the environment. I almost never played in Pebble but I play in MPCC where we have two ocean courses where probably many golf balls have ended up in the ocean and it gratifying to know that there are people who care about the environment.

Put a vending machine at the tee box on hole 8 with bio degradable golf balls in it, when they check in the get a “token” that’s good for a golf ball on the 8th tee that is required to be used unless it’s tournament play.

Resell the good ones you dorks. That's what they do around the world. Put up a road side stand outside the golf course and sell bags of the good balls. Recyle/reuse. I live in Asia and I only buy used golf balls, because soon enough I'll just send them back into the water hazard.

Everyone saying re-sell them may have a a point. But from a golfers perspective, water logged balls are not really any good. From a tree- hugging greenies perspective manufacturers should be making eco- friendly -biodegradable golf balls. With the USGA considering a change to the ball for sustainability of golf reasons now seems the perfect opportunity to push for an eco ball without the toxins, heavy metals and plastics going into the waterways of the world. A win for the planet, a win for golfs image and ‘distance problem’ and a challenge for the manufacturers chemists to meet. What a legacy the golf establishment could leave with the happy side affect of me not feeling quite so bad when I slice one in the water.
