    I appreciate that fully immersive experience of "when the OCD hits." That and I kind of scoffed at the idea of some farrier video titles including ASMR until I saw yours. Thank you, not only do you appear to be a master at your craft but you are uploading it for us all to enjoy, thank you again!

    The horse didn't make a single sound, how long does it take for the animals to get used to this process?

    • @larrybrown6068
      @larrybrown6068 3 роки тому

      You should start when they are young, just a gentle rasping, making it a good experience. Done regularly they quickly get used to having their feet picked up and handled. When the time for shoes is approaching, the feet are tapped round with a shoeing hammer, to get them used to the feel and the noise. The first shoes will usually be just a pair of fronts and if the horse has been handled correctly and it's a happy experience, there is normally no problem.

  • @blizzwing45
    @blizzwing45 3 роки тому +3

    I'm curious, why do you apply the heated shoe to the hoof? Does it harden the newly exposed hoof material?

    • @Joey-cj9to
      @Joey-cj9to 3 роки тому +8

      The purpose is to create a smooth interface surface between the hoof and the shoe and to seal the cut horn tubules, making them less likely to dry out in a dry climate or take on moisture and soften in a wet environment. The intense heat also tends to kill any fungi and bacteria that may cause problems in the hoof.

    Could you potentially harm the horse, by accidentally cutting one hoof too short? And by that I mean would they become off balance and become lame? Or are their legs long enough and hooves short enough they'd overcome a too short hoof job?

    • @jiaswan22
      @jiaswan22 3 роки тому +2

      You would know it if the horse was in pain. The hoof where he is nailing is does not have live tissue. It is like clipping your fingernail. The live tissue is back at the hair line and deep inside the hoof, not the outside where he is nailing. That is all keratin hoof wall.

    First: the work is very good. However, the worker does not pay attention to details, and is somewhat hasty.
    Second: Assigning someone to shoot a video is better than putting the camera on the head

    • @TruthArrows
      @TruthArrows 3 роки тому +1

      I agree. Faster does not mean better. Also dropping a horses foot so that she hits her toe on the concrete is unpleasant for the horse and also could harm the hoof.
      This person could have potential but they need to slow down and be more caring of the horse and be more mindful of the work they are doing.

      Horses can get excessive wear and hoof problems if they are not shoed. Particularly if they spend much time on cement, stone, gravel, and other hard surfaces. This provides a tougher shoe material for horses that are not always in a naturally soft environment. Keeps wear on their hoof in control.
