I was watching QuintenReviews do a mega deep anaylsis of the show where he points out something I never realized when I was a kid - that the writers made it certain that Cat and Tori never sang at the same time because of the talent difference between Ariana and Victoria Justice. To the point of giving Cat "laryngitis" at one point.

If Ariana ever decides to take a break from music I really hope she does some more comedy acting, she’s honestly one of the best comedy actors ever to grace Nickelodeon, but no one even remembers that anymore because she’s (rightfully) become so famous for her musical talent. As amazing of a musician as she is, her genre isn’t really up my alley, but I absolutely love her comedy style!

She's actually close to all the main cast except Victoria Justice. Bec Victoria had a lot of projects during the show and she never get to hang out with the main cast. Ariana was expecially still close with Matt Benett nd Liz Gillies. Avan Jogia was her ex so they're just not that close anymore but still interacting.
Edit: The actor of Andre is also especially close with her. He often help wrote songs that Ariana sings and puts in her album.
