R4T...can you get this to work for a 2003-2009 Toyota 4Runner? The width of the GX470 is nearly the same. 4th gen 4runner is 73.8 inches wide, and the GX470 is 74 inches wide
Is that hitch tow rated at all or is it primarily only good for recovery at this point? I like the look of it completely but I need to be able to tow a travel trailer
It looks cool! You should design a bumper that has towing in mind. Something that utilizes all the factory bolt on points of the OEM GX470 hitch. PT22860540. That way you keep the 6500LB towing capacity and have the high clearance. I'd buy it in a second...
This bumper appears to have the proper amount of attachment points to the factory frame just like the OEM tow hitch. This should in theory be capable of towing 6500lbs, they just don't say it for liability stakes.
Looks really good, been waiting a while for one of those. How much space is between the edge of the new hitch receiver tubing and the rear frame x-member? Running a tire carrier like a RigD can stick out a little bit past that inside edge. Also, what's the approx weight?
It does. Bolt holes are identical to the Lexus. Something to think about though is the rear bumper on the Prado breaks up into 3 pieces. I've done a bumper cut like this and it works, just a little bit more work than the GX bumper. A lot more screws than what they demonstrate. I'm Currently making my own, like the one in this video. It's such a great option as a lot of companies have stopped making/ suppling rear bumpers for the 120 in my country. This is largely due to a) demand and b) the rear bumper on a prado is chunky and it hides a lot of weird crap which made it a bit complicated to mass produce.

Most aftermarket companies aren’t going to officially rate their bumpers due to liability

I don't think we will be doing one for the 5th Gen because there are so many great companies out there that make cool bumpers already.

You dont keep the 6500lb towing capacity if you lift the vehicle anyways.

Looks sick! I have a full rear bumper from metal tech but my exit angle is nowhere near as good as this low profile bumper.
Love the look, but would probably prefer something with a way to mount a spare tire. Going off-road with only four tires makes me nervous!

It looks like the light pods are in a pretty vulnerable location. Any plans on adding protection around it or alternative mounting locations?

They are pretty exposed. We are thinking about adding tubes around it.

GX and 5th Gen share frame, that cross member looks exactly the same, anyway this would fit a 5th gen with some modification, or the bolts wont align?
The bolts and also the bend on the tube will not line up.
