Fished roaring fork river one winter while wife was skiing, I waded from wilton park all the way to aspen. I have never seen so many fish. That day was 100 fish or more and all on dry/dropper. Fishing west branch delaware and then fishing this river or after this some Montana rivers you get spoiled. Do not get me wrong I love West Branch Delaware but fishing can be reaaaal tough lol

The downside is the length of the season. I was able to fish WB Del. no kill section 9 months out of the year. Colorado creeks, you got 3 months. Run off ends mid July and then ice in October

Did you end up going up independence pass and checking out the headwater areas up there? Also, FYI the reason the fishing was like this was because there was almost no snow in 2018 winter, so the season that followed was a real bust overall. Reallly early season fishing, even in some cases before melt out, was fantastic, but this year will be WAY better. Its going to be a phenomenal headwaters year actually.

I know the flow was low but the fish just above the pond were full of energy, just not these guys in the pond. I fished the headwaters too. Lots of small brookies.
