@@platinumtreasure He was auditioned and signed as a dancer. He learned to rap after training with so many rappers at Big Hit. Originally BTS was planned to be a pure hip hop group so in the beginning (2010), the trainees were mostly rappers (such as Supreme Boi). The vocalists joined as trainees after BH decided to make BTS as an Idol/Hip Hop group.

Yes, Yes, YES! There is absolutely nothing better than hearing them singing in Korean. It is just so much *more*, for lack of a better word. I can't even explain it. It just hits in a way that them singing in another language doesn't do. Even when they have songs that are put out in Japanese, the Korean versions just have something that the Japanese versions don't.
Also, thank you for this video being Spring Day. I think of my mom when I hear it. I've been pretty down lately, and I didn't even realize I needed to hear this song until I saw this video. Reminds me of all the good times we shared and that someday the spring will come and I'll get to see her and hug her again.

King of hidden vocal, for sure. Spring Day is one of the best examples as he sings 'underneath' the main melody to flesh out the overall sound of most of the song.
The importance and sincerity in this song is so moving and seeing this dance and performance really makes that resonate. This performance for me really made RM's words sink on when he talks about music having no barrier. On February 12, 2017, BTS released “Spring Day”. Three years have passed, but this song still reigns supreme on the music charts. ARMY calls it the *"QUEEN"* .

I don't remember if you watched the explained videos to the actual MV, Nico. But if not, make sure you guys do. As the song is connected to the Sewol Ferry incident (hundreds of school kids drowned in the ferry cuz authorities made them stay inside the ship instead of evacuating) and even tho the boys never confirmed that it indeed was connected, the MV, the lyrics as well as the choreo (intro formation looking like a boat with Jimin being a passanger who can't get off and then being swept away by waves) heavily suggest that it's about the incident.

@@WhatchaGot2Say Keep in mind that despite all appearances, the connection between this song and the Sewol incident was never stated or insinuated in any way by BTS, and the song has a completely independent explanation given by the boys as well as an MV with a storyline that can also be explained in a self-contained and unrelated manner.
That's not to say an additional inspiration _wasn't_ the Sewol incident, but it cannot be stated as hard fact the way other things can. It's a common mistake in this fandom, and it's often not considered a big deal, but... fact is fact and conjecture is conjecture. It's a very important difference.

I think you guys should really watch "when Hobi switches to "dance teacher mode" by SugArmyy. It really showcases how Hoseok helps them learn the choreography but also how hard they work even right before the show!

The content is more extensive and comprehensive of Hoseok’s functional role as BTS Performance/Dance Leader. He takes this role very seriously since their beginning. Nowadays that some question or deny his role, it is something all ARMY should see to understand his professional contribution and how he has dedicated himself to help make the group the best they can be together.

It wasn't because of that, they never explicitly relate it to that but there are theories about it being a tribute. But let's not assume that it was made for that incident
My favorite part of the choreography is the absolute precision between J-Hope and V at 3:21 - 3:22. It only lasts less than 1 second, but maaaaaan. That is so freaking clean!

i might be way too emotional for this cause one: that comeback stage is my first ever stage by bts that ive watched and i didnt stop watching for weeks bc it was mesmerising, two: spring day is my first song by them and the fact that this song is about missing lost friends so much (and a tribute to the tragic ferry incident) is still to this day touched my heart, three: i feel nostalgic bc its my first exposure to them and this just revives back the feelings i had back then brb imma just sob real quick bc i got thinking about how far theyve come

This has always been one of my favorite dance routines and this Queen of a song always has a special place in my heart! The dance routine is absolutely perfect for the song.
This song and choreography is talking about the sewol ship incident where it took a lot of students lives that's why you can see them standing like they hold on handle and shaking (like in the bus) they even made the replica of a ship and showing the goodbye of the student who's save and died in that incident that's what made this song so much beautiful

I so agree. They wouldn't be BTS if they did everything in English. So many interviewers have asked if they're going to do an album in English. But listening to their music in their native language is so poetic to me. It's angelic, flows beautifully, and touches my soul like no other music has in my entire life.

There is something so special about this dance. AJJ, you are right on the money when you say that even the smallest, simplest moves are packed with passion; all seven boys really came together and fully physically conveyed all the pain and longing in this song in the most beautiful way possible.
When you guys say there's "just something different" about this choreo, you might say that because this choreo has a lot more influence from contemporary dance (Jimin's specialty) than it does from urban dance, which is unusual for BTS. It's more flowing, lacks aggression, and most of the time it has the boys maintaining a higher center of gravity than usual.
The biggest thing that sets it apart from other BTS choreo, though, is that it's storytelling choreo. There are only a few other songs in their catalog that get this treatment: "I'm Fine" is probably second place to "Spring Day" as far as how _much_ of the message of the song is conveyed through the dancing, while "Fake Love" and "Not Today" are also very complex and illustrative. I personally find BTS's storytelling choreo to consistently be not only some of their most emotional, but their most challenging. "Spring Day" may not be as challenging on a technical level as those other three (...except the whole sliding-onto-the-floor-and-getting-back-up-with-no-hands thing), but it requires a whole lot of expressive skill, more than any other song they have.
I'll never forget the first time I watched the live stages for this song. I had no idea Hoseok was going to sing in them. In the studio version, as you may recall, he has no main lines at all; he only sings background harmonies (which are beautiful). I was basically okay with it, mostly bc Jin got so much time, hahaha. But when Hobi came out on stage before anyone else and started singing, I couldn't believe it. CANNOT even tell you how many times I played that back. About broke the back button LOL.

Spring Day will forever be my favorite song. It's the song I put on when I feel sad and alone and need someone to comfort me. The choreography only enhances that--it's so expressive and gives all of those middle-of-the-night melancholy feelings physical form. Spring Day is an old friend.

The person who captures my attention most during a dance practice always fluctuates but I always focus on J-Hope at least one time through each video because he's the one performing it exactly, precisely as it's intended to be. He executes every single small detail--like with the fingers. You guys know, in a choreo, there are so many little steps and intricacies but these guys are also singing and trying to focus on being in sync and having stage awareness so the little things sometimes get a little less sharp. But J-Hope doesn't let anything get less sharp ever. It's so impressive. Really, he's just astounding.

If you haven't watched an explained video for this song...you HAVE TO. There is so much to this song and it is about a Korean national tragedy where many young people died. Ask Charlie. It brings a whole new light to this song and the choreo and why they are always reaching for one another but never can quite get to the other person. It's deep.

Honestly forget about how awesome the practice video is, but to me what’s more amazing is how genuine those 3 guys on this channel are. Watching them you can’t spot them or feel like they are being fake for one second and you can tell how comfortable they are in their own skin, and it only takes real men to be and do that, not to forget how you get a sense of how real their friendship is which is now a day that’s hard to find! So honestly, it’s so easy to like those 3 guys, because you can never hate realness even if you wanted to.

This song is the queen on MELON chart. Never out of the chart since it was released. According to the compilation of netizens, they noticed that the song was first released on Feb. 13, 2017 and since then, it has never been out of the “Top 100” chart.
‘Spring Day’ had also received lots of awards such as the ‘Year of the Song’ during “Melon Music Award (MMA)” in 2017.
I could analyze this choreo over and over again!! There’s so many small details. The big one that relate to the theory of this song-
-when the boys come together the form that V shape it’s like representing the bow of a boat!
-the fluid and group movements across the stage is like waves.
- Jimin and Tae are most likely representing the victims of the incident and the loneliness and separation from life and loved ones
-Jin and Yoongi are like the survivors longing and reaching out towards those they have lost.
-they do small moments that mimic being on train like holding their hands up on the “bars” and bouncing slightly.
-also there is another beautiful live performance of Spring Day where the entire stage is set to the images of being underwater. Which is both beautiful & tragic.
-literally there’s so much!!!!! I could keep going.
