    The vowel in "the" is only pronounced as a schwa before words that begin with consanants. Before words that begin with vowels, it is pronounced as a high /i/ sound

    Hi! Liza” So stunning your new look.!!I’m just wondering if you can do a video explaining the pronunciation in details of this vowel “3:” so many words also have this sound, example, bird, word, world, and if one add S” like birds” how does it changes the sound.

    In the Pacific Northwest we say [thee] as an article when the next sound is Ə -- "thee other" -- "thee underground." Sometimes I hear someone say "Thuh underground" but it marks them as a stranger.

    It's a bit tricky. No one says that some unstressed syllables still have long vowels, not shwa. Like in "cartoon" or "participate".
    Sometime I think there's a socondary stress and again no shwa like in "platform" or "hamburger".

    And all unstressed vowel plus r endings are the syllabic /ɹ/, better /bɛd.ɹ/, we may use ɾ instead of d

  • @danidejaneiro8378
    @danidejaneiro8378 3 роки тому

    I'm curious why you have added W and Y to your list of vowels....? Native speakers definitely treat these sounds a consanants, which is why we say _a waterfall_ and not _-an-_ _waterfall._
    This phenomenon even affects wors that are written with a vowel but pronounced with a Y: _a university_ and not _-an-_ _university_

    Haven't you heard? Caret is the new Schwa.
    /ʌ/ is the new /ə/.
    The only difference between the two sounds is what you imagine. It's the kind of unbridled pedanticism that only matters to phoneticists. It matters not at all to spellers of English words..
