Hi again, Sarah. Jane here to let you know how much your detailed videos are appreciated. You are so talented, and it seems there is nothing you can't do, Wonder Woman!! Thanks for all of your hard work and making it appear effortless when it takes time and energy to share your gifts with us. Take care and God bless.
Hi Sarah! Years ago I attended a Martha Pullen School of Art Fashion. It was there I was first introduced to heirloom sewing. I had an amazing week there and learned so much! I learned how to do the shadow sewing there. This is a fantastic refresher for me. I am so honored to have found your channel.
Thank you Sara!! My first time watching and I will be watching again (and again!) Your very gentle southern accent just makes the entire video all the more pleasant. Excellent close ups and hints and tricks for this classic heirloom look.
I am so happy and grateful to have found your channel. I do have trouble understanding you though so is there anyone in UA-cam world that can tell me if it’s possible to turn on captions? These videos are amazing and Sarah is fantastic with showing us what to do, I just need to be able to understand as well
I can see that future overtime will be buying me that pressing board, I hope I can make some of the printed lines work for larger sized doll clothing. I already know i will be adding to the neck/bishop neck sizing to go down to necks for dolls!
Sarah Classic Sewing I will have to look, I can go down from there, I’m currently sewing for older Sasha dolls, older Gotz dolls that were part of Silvia Natterer’s Fanouche dolls, my smocked dress turned out a bit big for the doll I though I was sewing for. But it’s all finished except hem, I cut the skirt very long, and the smocking.
I have been heirloom sewing for many years and I wish I had had video tutorials that are a simple to use as yours are. I need to replace my heirloom blocking board and would like to know what brand blocking board you are using in this video.
Thanks so much, you're too kind :-) I'm mostly self-taught using resources like the A-Z book series, old AS&E magazines, and others' blogs. I've taken a handful of in-person classes; one at Farmhouse and the other at Sewing at the Beach. Both were taught by Cindy Foose and I highly recommend her. Additionally, joining a SAGA chapter can be a great resource. I'm an hour away from one since our move and haven't attended a meeting here yet.
Thank you again for the helpful video! Hey- do you have any help you can show on how to do a perfect Peter Pan collar? And possibly with piping or lace ruffle? My skills in that area are pretty hit or miss.
+Sandra Delvecchio I think I mention it in a CV Jamie version, but I can't remember off the top of my head. But I don't have a detailed video on it yet. Try googling Gail Doane's peter pan collar. I recall her having a blog post about it. I've never taken a class from her, but I want to badly. Her method is quite precision. She does the piping before cutting out the collar. Hope that helps.
hmm sorry to hear that... and no, at least I haven't heard of people using stabilizer or anything. You can use cording/gimp to make them extra full, but they should perk up on their own. Make sure you are using the same thread all around (tops and bobbin), increase the tension on your top threads until they pop up.. swiss batiste should work just fine. what is the problem with them? laying flat? twisted?
Sarah, love your videos, you are a great inspiration for me to do some beautiful dresses for my granddaughter born ladt Valentine's day. Can you show a picture of the completed Madeira hem dress?

Hey there Maggie, I think I saw a new one recently that had an 18 inch doll neckline already printed.

I'm trying to find the link for the guide you used for drawing the scallops onto your fabric but don't see it.
Thank you Sarah this is so beautiful. Where did you learn all your techniques from? You are a wonderful teacher! xxx

I think I'm going to try this stitch on some dinner napkins.
That would be darling, great idea.
Sarah,
