Thanks for the review, AMD's new CPU naming convention is confusing indeed! I purchased the Beelink SER6 Pro 7735HS (prebuilt 500GB / 32GB), mainly with help of your review of the Beelink SER6 Pro 6800H model (the CPUs are almost identical from my research), but then Minisforum announced this model a week later, so was curious to see how this one performed. Been really happy with my SER6 Pro, even more so that I got it before they increased the price (by a good £140 GBP). Keep up the great work, you're helping thousands (hopefully one day millions!) of people like me making the right choice for these mini-PC purchases =)
Thanks for the review and great to learn thermal throttling is still an issue! Yeah, I wish AMD could keep a consistent naming scheme for more than 2 generations.
Sounds like drilling a bunch of holes in the bottom of the plastic cover is what it could benefit from. Someone could make a killing with a custom cover that gives the needed extra ventilation With the stand, I'd mount it in the stand or vertical anyways.
I had a 690, It would randomly crash, I ended up sending it back to amazon and got the Beelink gtr6, I still recommend the amd ryzen 6900 for gaming, because the integrated GPU runs at 2400Mhz, in comparison to 2200Mhz on 7735hs.
Wow, this is the most detail comparison for small pc form factor. Thanks bro for info and benchmark data. I subscribe your channel for more video. Keep it up 👍
GREAT REVIEW as always man! Just so you know, the NPB7 just released from Minisforum which uses the Intel 13700H CPU, and it would be nice if you could review it! It looks very nice and sleek and comes with 5200mhz DDR5 Ram!
What is overheating is the ram it gets really hot and the mini pc start to throttle down I try with diff ent rams already and same issue my only fix was opening the case and putting a fan Were the ram is. That fix the issue from 80+ degrees to no more than 60 from the point on the performance is stable I connect the fan to in external cable but I see 3 pins in the motherboard i have been trying to figure out if that is for a fan do you have any idea about It?
Vous jouez à quel jeu ? Cela tourne parfaitement bien ? Je souhaiterais l'acheter mais je ne sais pas si il ferait tourner tout les jeux... principalement Asseto Corsa... Merci
Nice to see an honest review, instead of an Every Thing is Awesome paid promotion like from some other "reviewers", or should I say promoters. I was wondering if you have any idea when the 7040 series with RDNA 3 might be coming to minis? I'm guessing since it's only now just being released on laptops then it'll probably be another 6 months till it's in minis. But you're the pro so your guess is better than mine!😉
Thank you for the very detailed review. I saw a GMK brand with the same CPU a bit cheaper like 368usd barebone. I hope you inlcude dota 2 on your next mini pc review as im looking very badly for a good mini pc.
I'm looking into getting the sakura edition of this (I live in Tokyo rn) but I'm a complete newb for mini PCs When it arrives I have to add things myself? Those components, ram and storage, do they come with the machine? And do I have to separately buy Windows etc? Basically, how much does the user have to do once the machine arrives before playing. Is it not like regular laptops with evertthing ready to go? Apologies if this is a silly question, I'm trying to learn.
If you buy it with memory and storage it comes with Windows 11 Pro and is ready to go, like a laptop. So for you, the basic option would be 16GB RAM + 512GB SSD. Or if you want more memory and storage you can select those.
@@Robtech thank you so much for replying! If I can be cheeky and ask a other question: can this play triple A games, like Hogwarts Legacy? Or do you recommend something like HX99G? Which was recommended to me as another option. I don't need perfection and max spec settings, but playable and enjoyable
When your mini is drawing almost a 100W, I see no way to cool that effectively in such a small formfactor without a lot of noise. I see that as a problem of current mini manufacturers not choosing the AMD U series for their minis. I am curious if ASUS will also put their custom AMD APU for their Ally handheld in their next generation minis...
Thanks for this excellent review ! I'm interested in buying this mini-Pc (after the EQ12 with a N100 wich is a very good 24/7 Plex Server ;-) ). Do the thermal problems appear only during games or are there present during a video conversion with Handbrake for example ? I would use it for working, a very little gaming and video encoding. I was looking also for the Beelink SER6, but there are no barebone, less ports and no 2.5Gbps, and I already have the SSD Nvme and 2,5" SSD... Or an Intel I7 1360P Nuc ?
Hello ,what would you recomend for mostly browsing and office use? also a future upgrade of parts? i thouge about beelink eq12 n100, maybe the n305, also the beelink ser5 max 5500h or the morefine m9 n100? considering low noise ,good cooling and good performance.
I got this and I really love it but the performance loss after several minutes of high load is so annoying. Any solution . one moment you're happy @60fps the next it dips to 40-50fps and the only thing you can do is reboot the to get the 60fps. I wonder if this box can be undervolted I think it might help in keeping the performance at high levels much longer.
Thanks for your review, it just make me happy again on my purchase decision of this mini pc. I would like to have your advice on whether I can directly upgrade this mini pc's cpu with the newer and more powerful Ryzen 7-7840hs without other modifications, thanks !!

It really depends what you're using it for. For gaming at this size, the only option is one with a Ryzen processor that has Radeon 680M or 780M graphics. And for a better gaming experience, something like the Minisforum HX80G or HX99G
I've been looking forward to this review, but I'm not sure why (other than liking Rob's reviews) as it sure feels like the 7735HS is a marketing gimmick, and it's just not that different (and in some ways it looks like a slight downgrade from the 6900), and they make no effort (oops, I forget the heat sink attached to plastic) to cool anything but the CPU. To be fair, they have finally learned to glue the damned silicone thingie to the metal stand. I keep hoping that for other than the very low end mini's that more of those little 40mm fans in the SSD/RAM space will appear.
Great video! Intel NUC just can't compete for gaming on a consistent basis. However, I like the Intel NUC easier setup and Office 365 use. Examples: Outlook, Word, Excel, Power BI, and PowerPoint. Gamers should only consider AMD unless they want to sell a kidney to get Nvidia GPU.
If you have a UM773 dont add heat pads under the heatsink. Makes performance even worse. Also you can add a fan at a cost of a SATA drive if you want to.
Minisforum really needs to dump this ugly plastic box. They had a great metal design in the HM80, with much better cooling. This latest gen case is a big step backwards.
8:48. Dont give me ideas. I have a dremel on me Also theres a 3 Pin on the back of the pc. Hope its for a fan. lemme double check. On multimeter says 5V. I dont have a 5V fan. Has anyone tried?
Thanks for bringing up the overheat issue! Hope minisforum will finally take a note and fix the flaw.

Surely using the same case as previous models must contribute to keeping the cost down because of not spending money on tooling
Yep, and now they have the cooling problem from it that hasn't been solved twice in a row.

Me too. Please include dota 2 game benchmark. 🎉
Does it still have issues with performance and heat ?
Can't speak for the Minisforum, but I own a 7735HS Beelink and very impressed with its performance. A lot of PC in a very small case.
what about the noise under load?

Because of poor ventilation the case is a hot box allowing the RAM to overheat.

The iGPU of this device is better then the GTX1650 GDDR5 from laptops?
Maybe just remove the bottom and put some screws in the standoffs will help ventilate the bottom better.
i think the Beelink has vents on 2 sides and the minisforum has vents on 4 sides, should make a difference to cooling.
serviría dejarlo sin la tapa para que no se caliente tanto?
Has anyone actually disassembled the heatsink on these (UM690, etc) Mini PCs to see if they're using Liquid Metal or not?
Yes, UM690 has indeed liquid metal in it, so does the UM773.
I got my barebones.
All UM773 comes with RZ608 WiFi 6E cards (Supports 6Ghz bands)

I only noticed it when both CPU and GPU were stressed. Just CPU (like handbrake) was okay. Could be just the RAM overheating.
