Mercury Optimax 200 Low Water Temperature

2004 Mercury Optimax 200 hp Water Temperature running 85-86 degrees. checking the thermostats to see if there is any blockage in the lines.
Thermostats cost $111.00 each from Mercury.

Been there done that on my 200 Optimax. The problem is, they are kinda $$$$ 100.00 ea! If your stats check good and you don't find any debris, pull your poppet valve on the starboard side on the bottom. Also make sure the stats COMPLETLEY CLOSE.

Thanks. I’m replacing the stats. $111 each. Ouch. Once those are in I’ll see if the temps get back to normal. The poppet is the next item to look at.

Forgot to mention this Steve. Always, always start your troubleshooting on water press, temp issues at the SOURCE! That is your water pump. Most likely not your issue presently, but you may have other issues at the same time.

Also when you order your annual maintenance parts, don't forget a compressor belt and trim rod striker plates.

Annual? What all needs to be replaced running say 50 hours a year or less?
I just bought a 13 225 proxs.

@davidsharp1533 Replace all spark plugs, replace fuel filter, replace air filter, replace water pump impeller and gaskets. Drain and refill lower unit gear oil, inspect and or replace compressor belt. That's a good start. Go to the BBC Mercury forum and look at the complete list.
