I am planning a trip in near future, can I take alto to the top?
I'd been to Mandalpatti last year on 30th June on my Suzuki access. I'd stopped at Abbi falls before heading to Mandalpatti. Was told by the Jeep guys there that it's impossible to ascend by motorcycles let alone a scooter. I didn't really pay much head to the words and went ahead but was stopped at the deviation to Mandalpatti by the ticket collector. He said I'll have to take a jeep as it's the monsoon and no way can I do the ride to the top on a motorcycle. I still went away shrugging the warnings. And boy, oh, boy. What an experience it was. Was a celebrity at a certain view point where people had gathered and had photos being taken with me and all that. Memories. :')
Coorg is also place for touring that too on a bike, I visit regularly as I stay in Mysore n Coorg is my favourite biking location,Abbey falls, Raja seat n much more..
But, finally Mandallpatti is ultimate off road on bike,jeeps,not required, I always go on my bike, nobody fought with me, let assume it was just one bad experience that will not repeat

Abbe falls is best... One of my experiences when i went there with my friends and asked the officials that can we go down near the falls they said ok, as the flow was not too much but when we went down and started taking 2-3 pics a police official shouted from far and told us to come up, when we went up they fined us 200 rs per person and those officials who said us that you can go down were not visible at the scene....but never the less it was way too good view from down

10 years back there was no police ,no checkpoint there..that time we had a good bath in the falls.even today I am very happy while seeing that photos 😍

Dude, either you missed the actual Mandalpatti view point spot or may be purposefully you chose not to include it. Looks like you have not gone till the actual view point. There is checkpoint where you need to pay the entry fee for Mandalpatti and the actual off-road starts from there. Whatever you have covered is the best conditioned road on Mandalpatti stretch.

That 2000 is actually worth it... The roads to Mandalpatti view point is not good and it's almost 25-30km from Abbey falls.. If we go in normal car.. Then we should buy a new one... That's the situation.. Only SUV mainly jeeps can run on that road... And another thing is the driving experience u should have while driving in that high steep road

Bro.. me with my friends went to mandalpatti on rc390, duke390, nd dominar.. people there are really always ready to fight.. 1 drunkard stopped us and tried to fight with us i didn't know why.. bt now i got to know why they were trying to fight... They really get jealous when they see people on bikes there.. well we also went there from bangalore.. nd really few tourists helped us..
Same thing happened to us and that drunken guy came and hit one of our member and told it's our place and nobody can touch us. Really really hurting when our own people hit us in our state. Really saddened by the behaviour of them. I hope the government keep cops on every tourist place.
