Crazy how I was listening to your tapes years ago before I ever made a beat or had a midi or a mic. Now I see you have drum kits, and that just adds to the story that I can use the drum kits of one of the guys that helped me appreciate remixes ‼️ much love man a youngin is paying homage ⚜️❤️
Your version of "the world is yours" makes you relove the song you already loved from a different angle, and it truly complements the voice of a legend. Words can't describe this mix tape. Cookinsoul, the world IS yours

Cookin’ Soul man...I’ve been a turntablist for almost 20 years, hip-hop fan for 35 years and Illmatic is in my top 3. Also a huge Avalanches fan...I’m sure you’re aware of them. You managed to create an amazing canvas painted with beats and vocal snippets, mastertrack manipulation and classy as FUKK production. Just discovered you today. Subbed immediately. Do your thing brother...I’ll be listening, and sharing my newfound treasure. Clothes, bank-rolls and hoes. So what man, what? This ish is straight up-and-down like 6 o’ clock!
Illmatic was the first hip hop album I ever bought (I was like 10 years old). It's the album that got me into hip hop music, which eventually led to me producing - my favorite thing in the world!! Needless to say I spinned Illmatic countless times and know all of it by heart. Now I'm listening to these remixes and I can truly say that your production doesn't do under for the original. Amazing job!
this started playing after some OF playlist and my jaw was on the floor after the first beat switch which turned into a smile and a nodding head for the rest of the soundtrack.
cookinsoul does some of the best remixes I've ever heard, mad love to the boss for bringing us back to the golden era of old school with a new school spin
I was so happy when you made this, I love nas and had hear about you from MC Melodee. I listened to this all throughout high school, had to come back to listen again 3 years after graduating
the it ain't hard to tell remix steals the fucking show....jeebus. the dilla drums, vocal sample and general beat selection. that alone might have to be my new ring tone.
Do yourself a flavor and dig around on my channel. Yoooou probably won't regret it. Lots of smooth and gritty underground tracks I've been stacking on there since 2007... Feast away.
Esta tape me llega directo al alma hermano, saludos desde Argentina, bendecido de haber conseguido el vinilo de Illmatic cuando pude. PD: Me encataría escuchar tu toque sobre algo de Big L.
amazing. i've been sending this to everyone i know. It's like a new art form and makes me rehear Illmatic for the first time again. The splice with Nas's comments on what hiphop should be gives his work an ars poetic, he's talking about what his art is about, he's here 'with or without the airplay.' I've probably listened to this and the Dilla Vol 4 a million times by now, they make me want to go play basketball again. The 90's love in Dilla Vol 4 -- Sean Kemp?? must be a seattle man -- makes a millenial like me happy. A long time ago in 2005 the first video I saw of basketball was Requiem for a Dream remixed over Larry Bird. It's this kind of mashup that makes a generation happy about its heroes. Those Jordan dunks looked so much better when they were set over Sweet luv. Can't you put up the nas remix on spotify??? Probably can't because of copyright. Keep doing your thing, man.

AZ is criminally underrated. Pieces of a Man is one of the best albums of the entire 90’s and that’s high praise.

It's crazy how these beats reinvent these songs. I feel like I'm listening to Illmatic all over again.
This is how you pay respect to the art of someone, without damaging its integrity and soul.
Congratulations, love it.
Can't believe that this has been in existence for over a year and slept on this .... Beautiful interpretation...
