What I love about LA LOM is just the huge catalog of songs they draw from. Playing old Latin classic songs and how they stay true to the styles and how the melody and rhthym is spot on. Great musicians. Almost academic in their performance, they demonstrate a masterclass on how to play music. They are absolutely one of my favorite newer bands.
Great band, taking retro to a whole new level. Got to meet all three of them and they’re all humble, great guys. Los Tranquilos are another young group of guys to check out!
El Sueno is my favorite tune so far. I first heard it as I was sitting in my car one night during a rain storm. Perfect dreamy vibe!!! I watched the street lights play on the rain rolling down my windshield. The guitarist reminds me of my grandpa!! RIP. He was a country/western picker. But they have the same style. The house I grew up in looked very much like this room!! And that was the 90s! Hahaha. On the subject of records, I once trimmed a house for an old guy and we turned his basement into a music space. He had the biggest collection of music I have ever seen. Floor to ceiling, wall to wall of vinyl and reel to reel tape. And it was all vintage. He had been collecting since he was a kid.
Was following them on Instagram, noticed all their shows were in LA, kept wishing they would tour, and now have seen them twice in NYC, amazing, thank you for this
Got the privilege to see them live at The Troubadour when they opened up for Gaby Moreno on 10/14/2023. That was a special concert, especially their jam session with Gaby Moreno.. which actually inclued La Negra Tomasa WOW!. Thank you for sharing your talents & representing Los Angeles's to its fullest, may God continue to bless you always in all your musical endeavors! Maybe a collab with Caifanes ? :) #LALOMFAN
On Zak's guitars, you still can find a bunch of them relatively cheaply. Maybe not all of them, but like said here, I agree; it's far easier and more affordable to go with Danelectro, Harmony, Kay, and Supro / Valco (and their many re-branded versions sold at department stores) than it is with Fender and Gibson.
Interesting interview. Checked them out and I dig it. The drummer looks annoyed to be there and the guitarist looks bashfully grateful to be on the couch. I'll take this ride with y'all. Well done sir.
Really interesting and engaging interview, so much better than asking them what their favorite foods are lol, (when the guys were like what?!😂) I really wanted to know what kinds of guitars Zac played, he really puts his own unique spin on his playing. No singer remotely needed. Nick playing a conga and cymbals with one hand, the snare drum with a maraca, just wow…Jake just SAYING it with the standup. So much sound from a trio! Mind blown at how great they are. I saw them in Silver City, New Mexico recently not ever having even heard of them before, but all I knew is that I was going to get to dance! I danced like I had not done in so many years I can’t tell you, had the time of my life. I’m hoping they include Boston in their next tour because that’s where home is for me and I am hooked! Thrilled for them that they’re gonna tour Europe. Can’t wait for next time, but I’ve been playing them a lot since I saw them. 👏👏👏
Mr Vinyl Rewind, I am currently too broke and dysfunctional to financially help your channel, and I would if I could. But I can offer promotional praise. The enjoyment and knowledge I have experienced just watching you talk about the Beatles (even with the extraordinary limitations placed by The Man on your ability to reference the actual music without fee or fine) is significant enough that even though I have never in my life heard of La Lom I'm going to watch you talk about (and to) them... however, now that you have revealed your pull and juice to land interviews with artists you love, I of course now except you to have on Sir Paul McCartney by Christmas 🤘 Kirk Hammett totally tours with Greenie, an extremely expensive and legendarily provenanced guitar named for former owner and Fleetwood Mac guitarist Peter Green. Though... Kirk kinda has money to spend on its maintenance.
I like they a lot. But I believe some takes of the album do not catch their real live sound, unlike the technicolor official videos of its performances. I think the album need more of their sweat and grit live thing. By the way, you should interview Hermanos Gutierrez too!
I just dont get it man, your content is so well produced and your such a cool dude. How do you have less than 1 thousand views in 6 days. Boggles the mind
Patiently waiting for La Negra Tomasa 😌

Great band. Their repertoire is fantastic. You can listen to them all day and never get tired of it.

These guys rock. I love their depth of knowledge in this genre.
It’s great to see you expanding into interviews on your channel, especially with a band that has put out one of the best albums this year!
The visuals on an instagram reel is what captured me! I was surprised to see that they were still around. So aesthetically pleasing!
Thank you for this interview, and for introducing me to LA LOM! Their music is fantastic!! Such good vibes. Love your channel too!
I've never heard of LA LOM, but I was happy to check out their music. Very nice!
Great insightful interview, been enjoying these guys for awhile and was always curious to hear more about their influences and background. Thanks!!
Great interview! Love that they brought in some records. Dig the vibe!

Instantly loved their album recently and bought their vinyl

Great interview, some good vintage psychedelic cumbia started also in Colombia, Listed to Abelardo Carbonó
My new favorite band
The best band since Morphine.
Saw these gentlemen in Toronto. They were phenomenal.
I feel the same way!

Patienly waitting for El Tema de William from Nicaragua.
Already bought the ticket to see you guys here in Portugal! Can't wait!

Maybe just tired? Notice the SQIRL cup he is holding. ☕
That drummer is cooler than a polar bear…. Just saying…
love the red national guitar. EPIC!
Great band ❤

I know nothing about the mechanics of music but this was great. Thank you so much for sharing!

That Hawaiian shirt is awesome!
I can't wait to see La Lom live at the Mayan in Los Angeles, I got their debut album plus they're 45s 😎👍
What band does the host mention at 19:25? Great band and really enjoyed the interview!
Khruangbin.
@@cattermolepp3746 Terrific! Thank you! I've heard the name but now will check them out.
La LOM are awesome
❤❤❤❤❤

shout out cody.
What band are they talking about at 19:25? I can't quite make out what he says.
Yeah but also all the great 50s/early 60s guitarists were playing the off brands and department store guitars.
Where’s Jake?
Is he the son of Fred Sokolow?
ZAC…se habla espanol? 🤷🏻♂️
What's the white solid body guitar Zak plays, the one that looks like an Airline?
Great insightful interview, been enjoying these guys for awhile and was always curious to hear more about their influences and background. Thanks!!
