I really like these big Dempster models, they just look like kings rear loaders. Something about that tailgate design grabs me as well, might be a mix of it's heavy duty size and the fact the hopper floor curves outward and downward from the end of the body. Love the packer assembly on these beasts, looks so durable with the ribbing and steel supports. Almost appears to drop down in the hopper under it's own weight compared to the steadier speed of the other cycle stages! Awesome engine sound when it's packing, really smooth and constant, then you get that brief whip of higher rev just before it returns to idle. Damn I love kick bar action - lifts the containers into the top of the latches and flicks them back down against the hopper edge, just a sweet operation. Love the side view of the whole truck from 6:30, also saw that little puff out of the exhaust when the engine got moving. Driver seemed like a cool guy and worked with enthusiasm, noticed he even stayed out of the way in the 2nd clip until the packer finished! haha Brilliant ending as well, driving off around the bend and out of view, all made twice as entertaining with the engine character pouring out of the exhaust. Well done, I really enjoyed this!
A+ work, definitely one for my favorites playlist. engine sounds amazing. speaking of engines i wonder if either of those 5000s powered by Detroits were ex-Dsny
Trashman242 thank you. And actually yes they were ex dsny. No more footage at the moment (however I have SSC dempsters) but I can eventually get more footage when it goes back to do dumpsters if you were interested?
West Coast Refuse Trucks yeah i sure would be. also have had a crazy thing for that lever shifter lately, a cab ride or some sort of view of it as he's getting back in and getting into gear to leave would be heaven on earth. but more full af dumpster action with up close packer views would be amazing if that's all I can get out of you :) still excited for more SSC though
Just out of curiosity, are they still running, or at least still in possession of this truck? If so, do you know what motor/transmission combination it might be? I'm thinking of building a custom crane truck with one of these old CCC's.
Dylan The Garbage Man yeah the trunion locking system is the industry standard. The “fork” style set up that Murreys uses is a Washington and Oregon exclusive system. Very few places use it
i rode on 25 yard models of the RK2 and reguarly on a mack and ford 8000 put on 12 tons and 19 to 20 tons on our 2 32 yaard units 1 a straight truck the other a semi with a GMC brigader cab while working at K&E solid waste but most waste companys here in Ontario ran the route king 2........ANYONE REMEMBER WHEN THE LAST ONES WERE MADE RK2 K&E(under Phillip environmental) bought 3 in 1992 all with Ford LST 9000 cabs

JEFF SKENE that's super cool. These trucks are beasts. Did the GMC brigadier have a Detroit in it?
