Navarasam is a masterpiece, proper blend of metal and regional song and there's no doubt Varaha Roopam is a song heavily inspired by the Navarasam.

    Few similarities I found -
0:25 and 5:54 (These may seem little different because two different instruments are used but still seems same.
0:37 and 6:21 ( Rock or metalic commences after the above part, One is in guitar, other I believe is drums)
3:56 or vocals at 4:15 and 6:24 (Instead of using the same guitar part in the beginning of navarasam, they changed to this one.)
0:50 and 6:32 (After the guitar part ( metallic or rock) at the beginning, both songs replays this part once again along with the previous metallic beat)
1:15 and 6:50 vocal starts after the above part
3:30 guitar part and 8:02 vocals ( I am not sure about this)
    3:31 and 9:21

I never knew raga came with preset instrumental music. As I already told I have completely omitted the vocal part of both songs. I have only pointed out that both songs progresses the same way. This has nothing to do with raga.

@@JeevanKumar-bs5cv As I said I could easily seperate the music before the vocal starts into 3 parts or intervals. Both starts with similar tune, moves to rock music, then replays the tune from the beginning along with the previous rock beat. Raga only comes to effect when the vocal starts.

You get tears because you’re happy your people have made something beautiful that everybody is appreciating. You also don’t want thaikkudam bridge to take credit and steal your thunder. That’s why people are hating the band. Divine divine just an overused word copy pasted everywhere. You can find divinity in everything. Bhoola kola theyyam etc are in fact angry forms of manifestation. Navarasam has all the 9 emotions.. it ends with sadness. How can you say navarasam doesn’t have divinity ?

Reviving old traditional songs with modern music touch is an ongoing trend. Saying Thaikudam or Raghu Dixit did it first will be stupidity. There will be always someone that we don't know. Even Brodha V is doing from a long time, his "Aatma raama" is getting it's due credit only now in UA-cam shorts.

I like both songs equally, both have slightly different vibes and i dont prioritize between those. Bhakti or not (music goes beyond that).
In terms of plagiarism, here's an anecdote that happened to me. Went to watch Kantara not knowing anything about movie, controversy or theme. When the song started, I shouted to my friends "this is probably Thaikkudam's Navarasam song, Happy they're doing music direction". After movie, msged friends that music was awesome, and Thaikkudam was probably the director. I was that sure of it then - and not just because of the similar ragam or rising beats. Not to mention, the similar folk art forms explored.
10 minutes later, I found that the music director was someone else, and Thaikkudam had to file against plagiarism. So - its clear where I stand.
Art is subjective and open to interpretation, and many biases can cloud our judgement. But when I judged the song to be too similar to Navarasam in the theater, I was not biased by any prior knowledge of the controversy.
Kantara is making waves and lots of money. Some fans claim the movie's soul was Varaaharoopam (even news reports). Dont want to take away anything from the movie, but we can agree the music was integral to the movie's success, and film-makers are making money and credit, why shouldnt they credit Thaikkudam for what they took from them, if even inspiration? What do they lose ? Now they opened up an unnecessary controversy marring the beauty of the movie too.
One step further - why hide behind the farce of 'inspiration' ? We all know what that word meant in Indian cinema, we have heard it too many times already. We Indians, more than anyone else, have normalized plagiarism in art. Time to get out of that and respect true creativity. Let's make art and cinema more creative, professional and original, its the only way it can grow.

Same thoughts here. Heard Kantara song first time without any knowledge of the controversy and I too thought that the music direction was done by Thaikudam bridge.

@@DonS-ff2yt so it is ur preference to remember sadness, may be some others like to live in hope than despair.
Each of the songs are creative works expressing in their own way, but religion or festivals are actually about bringing hope to a person which Kantara has done successfully.
Sadness can be forgotten by people if the wish to and find some other ways to live and in the same way some other people may forget Kantara after some days. That is their preference or choice.
But the way kantara trajectory has been in these 38 days I think it has done its job.
