This song is the one that sold me on them. It closes out the first album of theirs I'd ever sat down and listened to, and it established that they have more range than I was expecting. (also, I think what you're looking for about the vocals is that he's using a compressor microphone with a bunch of reverb on it, gives you a real sleazy basement rock and roll vibe)

Love Artic Monkeys, especially anything from.their first few albums. The sound is great, but the magic is all in the lyrics. He plays with words and common phrases so well to say something so visual and twist to something unexpected
When he says I always spoil the surprise he uses a metaphor of taking his hands off of her eyes too soon - as in when you are trying to cover someone's eyes until it's time to reveal a surprise for them

This is like the only Artic monkeys song I know and it’s a real good track I have to agree but I’ve been listening to faith in the future a lot recently and I’ve been really loving his vocal takes can’t wait for you to do another I highly recommend Angels fly , Face the music , Out of my system , The greatest , & Lucky again those are my personal favorites after written all over your face
