    idk why this doesn't have any comments. This was beautifully expressed and helped me gain a deeper understanding and appreciating for the game. Thank you

    awesome video dude.... the original LiS story festers inside of my brain/heart just wayyy too much and makes me arguably way sadder than, like you said, stuff with objectively "worse" subject matter. I think I'll be stuck in Arcadia Bay forever

      I feel you. I've gone on a binge lately of videos where people road trip to the town and lighthouse used as inspiration for Arcadia Bay.

    This is one of the most beautiful and accurate commentary on Life is Strange that I have seen since LiS:BtS came out. I really don't have anything else to add except that I completely agree with you on every point.
    There are some films and music that trigger rather strong emotions in me, but no medium has overwhelmed me as much as Life is Strange and especially Before the Storm. It revealed an interesting side of me. I'm usually always selfish, but the game managed to show me that there is a possibility that I can actually subordinate myself to another person's needs without hesitation and make them my priority. Being able to act selflessly without wanting to derive any benefit from it. I have both Chloe and Rachel to thank for this, although Rachel Amber resonates with me on another level (possibly because we're not all that different).
    Knowing what happened to her still breaks my heart every time. And let's just assume for a moment that LiS were real, I would really do everything in my power to prevent the bad influences from corrupting her and ensure that Rachel can achieve her dreams and full potential. And man, i just teared up writing that ngl. This is astonishing because if you asked people that know me (real life and online) which LiS character they would associate me with, the answer would almost always be Nathan Prescott. Its difficult for me to feel compassion for people outside of my inner circle, but oh boy did LiS 1 and BtS do something to me that I had never felt before. I was able to put myself in the shoes of others, and that made me feel true charity for the first time.
    And yes, it's the little details that make so much difference. The music, the dialogues, even the tiniest gestures. Above all, the main focus on literature and Shakespeare in BtS was absolutely awesome! Entire works could be written about the stage scene from The Tempest alone!
    So yeah, just wanted to note how much the games influenced me. Again, thank you for sharing your opinion with us!

      Thanks you for sharing this! I love reading through comments like this :)
      I think of all the games I'm most excited to play back through some day is before the storm. And then true colors because I've been reading the books and ordered the newest comic xD
      I too wish there was something that could be done for Rachel. Seeing her in the first set of comics with max and chloe shows what things could have been like and I wish that for them so much.

      @@OffBrandSpen nothing beats a BtS playthrough now and then. Episode 1 is my weekend ritual! Firewalk RAWKS! :D
      and yes, the comics are very good! It was really a (good) surprise to see Rachel in them. But that's what makes the LiS community so great for me. The characters are brought to life by the fans.

    This is how a lot of us feel about the series that love it. There are plenty of people that dislike it too. But as a fan I can't get away from it. Even knowing that the series creators don't like Chloe or realizing how Max and Rachel are both toxic but in different ways. I can't not love these characters even with their flaws and even sympathize with characters I'd ordinarily hate like Drew North and Nathan Prescott. Fuck I even feel bad for Eliot Hampden and understand Damon Merrick. This series and it's characters does something different from other games.
    To quote Frank Bowers, nobody is just a type (Before the Storm, episode 2)

      Oh man, Drew and Nathan are great examples of that. Both characters that you hate at first but slowly see how broken/human they are that lead them to the decisions they made

      @OffBrandSpen and then Jefferson on the opposite end. You like him at first until the end of episode 4

    • @OffBrandSpen
      @OffBrandSpen  22 дні тому +3

      Ha ha yes very much so. Although, playing back through, some of ways he talked and acted that I thought was really cool from the first playthrough, now come across as creepy. It's crazy how they managed to Do it.
      I wonder if it helped that the voice actor for Jefferson didn't know he was playing a villain until a few episodes in.

      @OffBrandSpen that's what I love about the writing. Everything was there. But most of us put Nathan or David on the spot in the office after Kate.
      Oh, Victoria Chase. Somehow we can feel both hate and other less negative feelings for her. Yes, she's awful for mistreating Kate. But she is just as insecure as Max and even she deserves some sympathy when we "accidentally" bring her with us into the dark room.

    I couldn’t figure out why DeckNine’s Before the Storm was so good while True Colors and Double Exposure were so subpar. BTS had an entirely different development team 😞

    5:09 Even if you only care about Max & Chloe, how are you not sure that Chloe won't mention Max if you click any of these interactions? You could still learn more about their backstory from a random item.

    Life is strange and before the storm are the only two titles worth playing once they sold the ip every game after that was straight garbage 🗑️

    • @OffBrandSpen
      @OffBrandSpen  10 днів тому +1

      Before the storm was actually made after it was sold

      @OffBrandSpen you are wrong but right
      Before the storms story was already wrote
      They didn't work on graphics or engine cus the engine was the same as the one from the first game with the same assets
      They had even less work then obsidian did when making fallout new vegas using all Bethesdas work atleast they wrote their own story etc
      And they did that because the game was basically already made not because they sold the ip and the new studio made before the storm
      But because before the storm was basically already made and wanted them to do well

    • @OffBrandSpen
      @OffBrandSpen  10 днів тому

      Are you sure? I havnt seen anything about that. Closest I've seen to info about that is that don't nod was already working on life is strange 2 when before the storm stuff started

      @@OffBrandSpen considering they couldn't just write in Chloes dad dying or Rachel missing yes I'd say most of the games plot was written for them. Prologue games are not as hard to write when you literally have the entire main plot points for the story and the bad guy already figured out etc

    • @ThisiswhyWecanthavenicethings

      What I mean by this is if they had to write a game based on nothing from dontnod it would suck like every title they have released so far
      I'm excited for blood and rage to drop but nothing else
