It wasn't that he knew he was going to die. Clearly, the mask felt betrayed, took over Santo's body while Santo slept, poured over medical journals to learn how to fake a heart attack, but actually committed murder suicide so they could never be apart again.

  • @Avenging_Archer

I'm Mexican and this video isn't exactly accurate. He wasn't some crazy nut who absolutely NEVER took off his mask, he just was never unmasked in wrestling, in a movie or in public appearance, never showed his face to the public until he died.
BUT he had a normal life on the side, he didn't sit at home with his wife and kids wearing that mask, whenever he wanted to do normal people shit, which was most of the time, he just - ok, are you ready for this? - HE DIDN'T WEAR THE MASK! Right??
Because no one knew it was him, so it didn't matter if he went out in public without the mask! Mind blowing, innit??
His name was Rodolfo Guzmán Huerta and though he was very secretive about his double identity as El Santo (His own son never learned his father was the famous Santo for years), he wasn't a crazy dude who never took off his mask in real life. He even wrestled under other names before coming up with his Santo character.
Masked luchadores are a hallmark of Mexican wrestling or lucha. Every single masked wrestler NEVER unmasks in public unless the organization for which he or she works scripts that he's going to lose a 'Mask vs Hair' match, where the loser either shaves his head or loses his mask and abandons his masked identity forever. They agree to do that beforehand, of course, because as everyone knows, wrestling is scripted. Even the gossip press makes a lot of noise if an alleged photo of a currently performing Luchador without his mask leaks. Most just deny it's them though.
Great video though and I am very happy people talk about this man who is an absolute LEGEND in Mexico, many of the things on it are true, but people shouldn't think that he went 24/7 with that mask on. Like a superhero he took it off where he was sure no one was watching or had followed him and just made a normal life. He did do crazy stuff like switch cars after unmasking and leave through another door, etc.

Are you still 14? I think it's obvious that just as a Japanese person might know more than a foreigner about a Japanese subject, so would a Mexican know more than a foreigner about a Mexican subject. Many things get lost in translation. Do I really need to spell this out for you? Do you think many Irishmen know who is the founding father of México, for example?
And by Mexican I mean actually born, raised and living in Mexico, not chicano. I'd expect U.S Mexicans to know little about this subject.

I fucking loved Jackie Chan Adventures. Please do a video about it. Look at the lore / chinese mythology stuff that it uses or something. It was such a good show.
Also, I knew that Jackie Chan was a real person when I watched it, but I was super disappointed to learn that his niece Jade was not also a real person. She was everything I thought I was at that age.

Jackie Chan Adventures was the tits. There was a magazine that ran alongside it and if you subscribed to it you got a collector's tin which would contain the cards and animal talismans you'd get with each issue of the magazine. I nearly got them all but my parents chucked it. Proper livid over that.

I would watch you talk about Jackie Chan Adventures for 20 minutes; it was the shit! I started watching it as a kid simply because it was on after Pokemon, but it got to the point where I was usually looking forward more to Jackie Chan. It seemed kind of low budget, but you could tell the people involved really cared about what they were doing -- the characters were great, and some of the dialogue was hilarious. It had this random, off-beat sense of humor that I really didn't expect.

6:28 I think if Chris Pratt does that, he should go for accuracy and name himself _El Twat._
Also, I think the studio's response would be "if the character is gonna wear a mask, that's a good opportunity to get an actor who's cheaper than Chris Pratt"

I remember seeing that interview as a kid. It was a morning TV show like "Good Morning America". I was visiting my grandparents with my mom in Mexico and we were gathered around the table having breakfast. It's near the end of, I think, a ten minute interview that he flips of the mask and we all were just dumbfounded and slack jawed when he did it.
