  • Building upon the recent Ministry of Housing Online Series, this week's SFIC Online Briefing for Community and Faith Partners, supported by a generous grant from the San Francisco Foundation, will feature a presentation by the San Francisco Planning Department on the topic of Expanding Housing Choice (the Housing Element Rezoning Program), a state-mandated implementation action identified in the 2022 Housing Element, which charts a course for San Francisco’s plan to meet its housing needs for the next 8 years (2023-2031).
The presentation will share background on the project, our City’s housing needs, community engagement, and an overview of how the zoning proposal will enable additional housing production in state-designated “Housing Opportunity Areas” in the western and northern neighborhoods of San Francisco.
The team will also share how this rezoning intersects with strategies to support the development of affordable housing on institutional and religious sites.
