Great video. I use the plastic side discharging attachment and would cut at a higher setting then the recommended height. It’s a big difference. Start at 4 then I guess 3.5 and should be fine.
Thats a double cut lawn. The mower would not have bogged and the finished product would have been nicer. I possibly would have thrown the grass differently as well. Thick, wet, 8" grass..... Bottom line is the mower did the job. Actually a good video. Thank you Sir
If you can, mow counter clockwise and throw grass outwards, less strain on mower in tough situations
That grass is wet and thick. Is that Bermuda grass? I believe it did a good job for that low setting. Probably if you had a higher setting, maybe it would have gone faster. Nice work. still may get
the mower
Yeah I believe it's Bermuda mixed with centipede grass. After using it for 2 years I do like the mower. Works great on most lawns. Pros would be that it can get the job done quick. Cons would be that it is heavy and difficult to use.
@@ikaikalawncare o wow, thanks for the cons. What do you mean, difficult to use?
I am seriously dissappointed with the Turfmaster's performance cutting this relatively short grass. I thought HDX would cut through this like a champ without a hitch. And this is the more powerful model with the Koehler engine.. It's more than obvious the mower was bogging down because of the lack of power and you definitely didn't have a pleasant mowing experience.
I've seen Toro Timemaster, which is a residential cheaper brother of your Turfmaster, mowing much taller wet grass without any problems. And lets not forget that this commercial Turfmaster HDX is 100% more expensive than the Timemaster. I was weighing in which one to buy and this video definitely made my mind. I'm going with the Timemaster. I know I'll have to take care of it more and probably see the inside of the service more than if I decided to go with the Turfmaster. But if I'll be forced to experience the kind of mowing you had on this yard, I'm willing to replace the fast and effective mowing with the few more visits to my local dealer's service garage. Or maybe I'll just stick to my true and tried Honda 22" and spend a bit more time cutting every lawn, but with a smile on my face..
Although you can't tell in the video, the grass is pretty thick and it's wet so the mower struggled really hard. I probably could have cut at 4 inches first then go again at 2 inches but I wanted to see how well it would perform under hard conditions. Definitely not a mower for initial clean up jobs, however, when the conditions are perfect this mower can perform extremely well and save a lot of time. I will post more videos as I find yards better suited for this mower.
Thanks for watching.
That has the Kawasaki engine on it not the kohler. The Kawasaki is definitely underpowered but the kohler is better.
I have the Turfmaster. It's not sold as a machine for overgrown areas,so,why be surprised if it struggles.I have other machines, including a finger bar,and flail mower.
Your trimmer sounds horrible.
A little voice explaining what YOUR expectations and goals with this video was, would help greatly. I can watch my neighbors mow, for example, but until I speak with them, I have no idea whether they like it or not. Which is why I spend my time watching these. JMO.
Great suggestion!
