    Dang, that was quick. Wish I could work that fast but you’re a better carpenter than I am. That’s why I always preferred working with metal. You can hide a lot of sins with a welding rod and a rattle can.

    That's a really nice-looking barn. We're building several sheds out of pallets and reclaimed wood. Just finished the roof on our second building but it still needs a floor, some siding, and maybe some trim to make it look nice.

    I enjoyed watching your videos. I like the skylight the most as it gives you great lighting without needing power. I’m from the USA and kinda laughed a bit when you were pulling the trailer in the mud. My huge 2014 Ram 1500 would have made that light work.The cost of fuel is high for it but I just use it when it is needed. I would have put up a vapor barrier before I put on the exterior siding to insure that the wind couldn’t come in as the wood shrinks over time. That said, I really like the job you’ve done and wish I could do the same but local regulations won’t allow me. Anything larger than a 8’x10’ building needs inspected and be built to code.

      Hey, Thank you! I'm very happy with my Subaru and it's a very capable four-wheeler, can do better in some places than large SUVs. but then there were bad tires under the car. By the way, this building has a building permit and it is also in the building register. Size 5.2m x 7.2m. Thank you for watching!

    • @jasonlee5317
      @jasonlee5317 2 роки тому

      @@normalguydoesitall wow! It goes to show how differently things are done from place to place. There is no way that we could use pallets for construction here unless it is on a farm and doesn’t need to be inspected. I’ve owned a small suv in the past and loved it too but the pulling abilities of a large heavy machine are easily understood. Now if you want to laugh at me for something… my wife’s daily driver is a 2012 Cadillac Escalade ESV with the 6.2l engine. Fuel loving ego machine for sure. My preferred vehicle is my motorcycle. The good news for environmentalist is that we work from home and don’t put many miles on these vehicles. I would have liked to see the process of laying the floor you built. It really looked nice. How did you secure the walls to the ground? I couldn’t quite tell.

    • @normalguydoesitall
      @normalguydoesitall  2 роки тому

      @@jasonlee5317 Hey, since we live in the country, we also have simpler laws, we could not build such a building in the city of course. I'm not trying to laugh at anything, I just bought a larger SUV to haul a horse trailer it is Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland Limited 3.0 D (you can laugh now). I am also a motorcycle type man i try to ride as much as possible in the summer. The laying of the floor was not filmed unfortunately yes. Walls to the floor- Impregnated beams are on concrete, and the beams are anchored to the concrete with concrete anchor , and the pallets are screwed to the beams on the concrete. I hope this helped. Thank you!

    I think this is a great overall build. The only thing I would have done differently would have been to add insulation before the outer boards were put on. I’d also suggest some 4-5 inch heavy rubber weatherstripping at the bottom of the doors to help keep the chill off. Nice job though! 🍺🍺🍺

    • @normalguydoesitall
      @normalguydoesitall  2 роки тому +1

    Nice design and nice finsh. Looks like you bought all new pallets, I imagine it makes it easier to construct but is it a more financially viable option? Seems like a lot of wood 'wasted' by being hidden behind OSB, would it not have been cheaper to build it with timber?

    Just got to tell you , I build a complete garage out of pallets, Roof and all, All I bought was 2x4 s 12 feet , On the Roof ,I even cut the pitch angle and slid both sides up to the rig board,
    kept all pallets in row so it looked like 2x4 s, Once plywood was on looked just like it should , saved be a hole lot of money. plywood was biggest cost, good luck on your build

      @@normalguydoesitall Loved watching your build series! We built a woodshop building/garage with leftover lumber and siding from our housebuild. We had a window from salvage. On the side we built at covered porch using old fence boards for the wall and painted white, looks like shiplap! Then made a railing out of the fence boards to trim the porch. The only things we had to buy were the paint, a metal garage door, roofing materials, and some electrical materials for lighting. It's our favorite place to be as we made a campground next to it with a firepit, a pool and camper. We love that we did it ourselves.
