I really hope this game gets updated and improved, this had such great potential. I love the monster designs and the idea of parasites, but I wish the story wasn’t as rushed. I feel bad for the people working on this rushing the game to get it out while grieving. I’d rather they take their time with their grief and the game.
Great concept. I was really excited for this game. Unfortunately the execution was poor and the game was way too short. It probably should have remained in development for at least another 6 months, or even another year.
A few things aren’t correct about your final thoughts. - penguins lost the ability to fly cause it was more beneficial to swim, meaning the evolution of flight would lead to lesser fitness. - the infected would be incapable of breeding for three reasons. One physical barriers due to mutations, two their caninalistic nature and three, as far as we’ve seen the parasite doesn’t actually change the animals genotype as they seem to return to normal, could be the parasite modifies the fenotype momentarily but IDK. At least these are issuesthat go against basic principles of biology off the top of my head.
yeah youre absolutely right. I see it as, "mad scientist", theyre trying to do anything that can to force a change. Theyre thought process is "maybe if it mutated, it will breed with another, and spawn a mutated version that will have different features" something like that. Like the scientist will do anything they can to make history, so theyre trying anything
The story is really good but the endings and the game it just feels unfinished and the endings are basically the same thing and you don’t even get a chance to fight the mother wouldn’t that be cool actually being able to fight the mother and the infection
Unfortunately it is unfinished. The dev unfortunately passed away before finishing this game so his family pitched in to try and at least get it out there.
It was the screenwriter, not the dev. Sad no matter what, the full intended story will never be finalized now. Hopefully dlc will improve what is already here. @nkyfong
The game is kind of a rush playthrough since most people have gotten through it at least once in a little over a half hour or so. I honestly figured it would be a three to four hour game in total
the idea that a flying penguin is somehow "better" than a normal one is really funny better at flying? sure, but penguins arent a worse animal for not being able to fly, they simply adapted to be better at things other than that, like swimming
I choose to believe the Mother is just related to the one in the Sims Strangerville just because it would be funny (and, hey, they both have tentacles.) Like maybe they're distantly related alien creatures, both brought to earth by some means. The Mother in Zoochosis seems to have been here a while whereas the Mother Plant (MP) from the Sims 4 was more likely accidentally picked up by astronauts. Maybe when it was picked up, it was in a different state and just formed as a solid on earth. The main difference would be that Mother is meaty whereas MP is plantlike. That might mean they came from one species before being separated to different environments where they evolved separately. This would also explain why one creates physical differences and the other only affects the mind. The MP relied more on quantity of its victims considering it infects with a mass quantity of spores whereas Mother wanted quality that could survive longer even though it meant fewer infected. The rest really depends on what they actually do with the victims. My guess is that the parasites of the Mother use the host's body so they can eventually get nutrients to fully mature and then be able to mate with her and create new "mothers." She clearly doesn't need a mate for regular parasites. I would assume the parasites also serve to bring her food since they're a hive mind. This would explain why the infected will sometimes kill without eating their prey. It's meant for the Mother but they can't reach her. MP, on the other hand, has a lot of unknowns. The spores from her and her child plants don't change the infected physically, but they do affect the mind. The infected are actually capable of speech as well. It seems the infected are meant to pose as regular beings and try convincing the others of their species to go to where they'll be infected. The only issue is that they clearly suck at it in the Sims. This can be explained with the idea that sims aren't the usual victims of the spores which furthers the idea the plant came from space. The hivemind infected are most likely what it eats, as it can easily lure them to its weird mouth. Dang, I've been yapping way too long. Anyways, I only have two more ideas. The Mother is theorized as being related to a venus flytrap which could explain where the genes are founded to tie it together to a common ancestor with the MP, and, lastly, they both act similar to fungi. It's cliché by now, but I'm going to reference the "zombie ants." Their entire mind is affected by the fungus and the fungus grows on them. The Mother is only able to work with features the animal already has and features it already has. The changes could be caused by the parasites pushing the animal's normal anatomy around to make room for the other features. The features could actually be a part of the parasite and not actually attached to the animal at all, the parasite just moves both in conjunction. That's why those added features die off as the parasite is dying and before it's even puked out. Let's just agree that no one has a clue why the animals are in perfectly normal condition afterwards. The MP is like a fungus for more obvious reasons: it explicitly produces spores. I think the MP is actually more similar to the common ancestor than the Mother would be. Anyways, now to mention Vita Carnis-
@aliciahuang6329 Nope no guilt. Actually still stand by the comment, I wish they'd been able to develop it further and it was a waste. Doesn't change just because knowing the reason behind it made me sad for a moment.
I have a theory the reason she was named Mother is she is really the mother of Sarah Watkins, who was a mutated host infected with the discovered parasite by her father, the CEO of the CMS Watkins Corporation.
There is a huge problem with whole parasyte thing. What's the goal parasyte irl have some really clear goals parasayting ie taking food from the host with no effort. What is the goal of Mother to spread parasytes? To make the parasitic animal getting more fat by consuming meat and then return to Mother maybe? But the game never says that nor does she explain it P.S.: Penguin having wholes in qings and still able to fly isn't really possible xd
So, out of curiosity, I counted all the little holes on the parasite's face. They have *28 eyes.* *Twenty-eight* What is their vison like? Are those even eyes? Or just holes?
I have not played it, but it seems a bit like john carpenters the thing, all be it not as cool in my opinion. Reminds me of brothers of the forest or some other game with that name.
i find it hard to believe that infected animals can revert to their normal forms because of congruent chemistry, it would still do irreversible damage to the host for they're not really fused together with the parasite.
If I was involved in the game, my suggestion would be that injecting a cure into a mutated animal will bring it down in one hit instead of the three needed with the lethal injection. However, rather than turning back, the animal instead flops over onto the ground, moaning in pain. The first time it happens, the character says "Oh my god, it's still alive" and every time a mutated animal gets "cured" the very next task is to give it a lethal injection to end its misery. However, if the player does give the right cure to the right animal before it mutates, the animal safely vomits out the parasite and will live, maybe injecting a cure into the wrong animal could also accidentally kill the animal to make sure that the player will go out of their way to make sure they get the right one.

Okay but that mutant elephant is one of the coolest things I’ve ever seen-
@@dragonslayersworkshop8598 I think it's adorable. Nice little Cthulhu-phant!
The mutant elephant, hippo, and giraffe all look metal as hell.🤘🤣

Yup.
@@IAmBuddythedecibwaveWell, they can fix it, if they want is other thing.
I love when the main character gets infected! Really want to see it's full model!
Yeah I don’t think how cannibalist mutant animal was Goldshmist idea when they thought up “hopefully monsters”😅
and people say the story sucks, bro this is the coolest thing I've ever seen.
Right?
The story felt rushed hence why it kinda sucked
Different things

😂😂😂😂😂 broo
What a shitty way to die
I wonder if this mother is tied to the mother in the ARG "Happy Meat Farm" and Alex Bale
Oh hey! Fellow happy Happy Meat Farms fan! I sadly doubt it, similar names but different stories
Thank you this has been fascinating!

Really cool concept. Wish they'd left a game a few extra months in the oven. Wasted potential.
The screen writer sadly died close to the end of production so…

The games story makes me think of the movie “The Thing” but if they brought the alien to a zoo immediately after finding it
This game gives a lot of vibs to the thing
I dont like the final game but damn this is so cool

I’ve been comparing it to the X parasites from Metroid Fusion since day one.

Mother reminds me of the mimic from vita carnis cause of the red human design
Kinda looks like the host and the meat snake if they had a baby
Hosts full name is the host of influence
Happy meat farms lore
Similar to necromorphs flood from halo the thing
And resident evil monsters
I can't believe that they thought a zebra mutating to have its face on its ass would be "beneficial" 😅
